Chapter One

(A/N) Hey, so this'll be my first League of Legends Fanfiction. I made the chapters pretty long in my opinion, so new chapters will take a bit longer. Be sure to leave a vote/comment/suggestion for this story! Thanks..!

Piltover

"Hurry up! You'll be late for your first day!" the woman ushered, handing the young teen a rough leather bag. The teen looked down at her, his light blue eyes shining. "Bye Aunt Vin." he said, his tone a bit saddened. She looked into the boy's eyes and gave him a warm smile, "I'll miss you snooping around here, kiddo. But! You're the son of a prodigal explorer! Good luck!" she said with a smile and pushed the teen out the door. She pushed him out the door, before slamming it shut. She didn't want her nephew to see her shed tears on the beginning of his adventure.

Slowly, the boy raised his arms into the air and gave a huge grin. He observed the bright blue skies, the wind carrying the fluffy white clouds above him. Taking a deep breath, he yelled with all his might, "HERE I COME LEAGUE OF LEGENDS! YOU BETTER BE PREPARED!"

The teen had walked through his hometown, Piltover. He passed by Caitlyn's police station that was now being run by a close subordinate of hers. The crime rate was still surprisingly low. Jinx hadn't been wreaking havoc lately either, he had met her once. The boy was walking home from class and he had the rare encounter of catching a glimpse at the girls blue pigtails. She gave him a silly face, and kept running.

Before he knew it, he had reached the teleportation device. He purchased a ticket and stepped into the humming machine.

The metal vibrated and soon the scenery shifted. Now, he could see a gigantic building standing tall in front of him.

League of Legends Institute

The boy approached the steps to the huge institute; it was filled with perfectly polished glass windows and spotless looking grounds. The institute looked super prestigious and neat. Slowly, the boy walked up to the administration desk. A young worker came to greet him, "Hi there! Name?" she said cheerily, picking up a pen to scribble his name down.

"Astral... Astral Crownguard." he replied, the woman's eyes widening. "What is a demacian doing here?" she asked curiously. The boy laughed nervously, "Actually... I'm from Piltover." he laughed, rubbing the back of his neck shyly.

That's when he heard a scream of a joy from a woman, "Astral, dear! Finally, you're here!" the lady of luminosity chimed, carrying a huge staff in her hand. It had a warm, rainbow coloured glow. "Hi mom." the teen laughed, hugging the small lady. She hadn't aged a day since she joined the League of Legends.

"Taller than me, already..? How long has it been...?" Lux asked lightly, staring up at the teen. The boy thought for a bit, "8 years?" he said, as if it was no big deal. Lux almost began to sob, realizing how long it had been since she had seen her one and only son. She was about to apologize for how she abandoned the teenager in his early years, when a champion came from the hall behind her. It was another woman with a floating weapon and pink armor. "Oh! Astral, this is Irelia, she is very skilled. I hope you won't have to face her on the battlefield... Teehee!" Lux laughed.

Astral looked at the woman with a curious look. She had silver hair, which is most peculiar. Irelia was also inspecting the male; he had pitch black hair even though both his parents were blond. His eyes were the same blue and he had pretty fair-colored skin.

Just then, an announcement echoed throughout the hallway. "New match in progress! Champions selected; BLUE TEAM; Shen, Udyr, Talon, Astral & Lulu! RED TEAM; Yasuo, Rek'Sai, Zed, Caitlyn, Morgana! All names called will be summoned to the rift in approximately three minutes." a woman spoke in a booming tone, the vibration in her voice echoed off of the wide walls. The transmission then turned off.

Astral looked surprised, "I have to fight already?" he said, lazily. Lux smiled, "Newbies always get picked. Players want to see what you can do." Lux explained, lifting a finger while she talked. Astral paced around nervously, "I'm going to get destroyed out there. I don't know how any of them work." the boy murmured to himself, biting his thumb. "You don't need to know how they work. Just focus on murdering minions and you're all set." Irelia interrupted her tone plain and simple.

"Irelia's right! Astral, its okay! The summoner can grant you knowledge; you'll have his or her assistance." Lux assured, patting the boy on the back. Astral turned around to face his mom, but he noticed he had already been warped into the huge rift. A few champions came up to meet Astral, "Nice to meet you finally kiddo. Don't sweat it, it's your first time." Shen said with a smile. The one wearing a hood sneered at the teen and rushed off. Astral was surprised at the mid laner's act of rudeness, but ignored it. He bought a metal ring from the shopkeeper. "That's my ring, its magic." Doran said, taking all the gold the teen had to start with.

Astral rushed to lane, Lulu smirked at him. "A ring? You're a marksmen, you need a blade!" she shouted, raising her staff as he put a temporary shield over the boy. The teen felt embarrassed when he heard a voice from nowhere.

"Hello, hello. I'm Summoner Marcus. Pleased to meet you, Astral." the voice boomed inside his head.

Astral nodded, as he attacked the minions that were dropping wallets and wallets of gold. "I'm going to play you full ability power, so... You're not exactly a marksmen this match." the summoner laughed, sending a list of items Astral should buy. He felt dazed as the list was burned into his memory.

When he saw his enemies, he saw a familiar face. Caitlyn had some history with him, and Astral decided to pretend like he didn't know her. The enemy Caitlyn's gun began to glow; Astral wondered what it was, so he walked a bit closer. Lulu rushed to shove him back, "She has headshot up! Do you want to be smacked in the face with a full damage bullet!" she scolded, making the opponents snicker. "Ahh~ Lulu gets the newbie. How unfortunate." Morgana chuckled, her tone lacking pity. Her pearly teeth flashing a sinister grin, Lulu hated Morgana the most; she was never humble in victory, or graceful in defeat.

The yordle ignored the fallen angels' taunts and continued to cast shields on the boy. "So, Astral. What is your summoner building you like?" she asked curiously. The teen thought for a moment, then responded, "Mejai's... Rabadon's..." he read off of the list at the back of his mind.

Lulu looked disgusted, "Your summoner is retarded." she commented. Astral shook my head, "I don't know how my skill set is, so we'll see." he said, sending a spark of arcane energy at a minion. Unlike Ezreal, Astral didn't need a gauntlet to control his arcane power. It just shot out of his fingertips; the feeling of a spark passing through his veins is something he could never get used to. Like a mini heart attack.

Astral didn't wear explorer clothes, but what every Piltover teenager would wear. A shirt with built in tech. For example, a futuristic arcane shield was built in to protect him from any small projectiles, like dust and rocks. Piltover clothes rarely ever got dirty since they were built so well. He wore loose jeans and shoes that gravitated well with his hover board.

That's when Astral remembered, reaching deep into his pocket was a sleek cylinder. It was a thin scrap of metal, until Astral tapped the object in different places. It burst with energy into the newest edition hover board, it had the words "Piltover" in cursive written across it.

Caitlyn stared enviously at the boy's equipment, but shook her head as she adjusted her aim on the boy. Astral hopped on his board, titling the board up to avoid Caitlyn's shots. The sheriff looked annoyed, as Morgana threw a huge orb filled with dark energy. Lulu jumped in, shielding the raven-haired boy and then polymorphed Caitlyn into a harmless cupcake.

"How long does that-" Astral began, but Caitlyn had already morphed back into her true form. "Not long." Lulu replied, sending bolts of magic at the angry pair. Astral decided it was time to test his skills, "Let's go, Marcus." the boy murmured, receiving approval from his summoner. He whizzed towards them on his board, he didn't like the thought of marksmen. Close and personal was more his style, he charged up his arcane energy, making the board go faster.

Astral jumped up, as the hyper speed board collided with Caitlyn. Caitlyn fell back, knocking Morgana back as well. The hover board took no damage and Astral landed back on it, looking down at the helpless pair with a light smile.

"See ya." he said, kicking off the board and letting arcane energy flow in both his hands. He blasted the pair, and a woman announced their deaths throughout the whole arena.

Lulu walked up, with an amazed expression. She had watched in awe as Astral solo fought the pair. "Wow! That was like super cool!" she exclaimed cheerily, tugging on the teen's shirt. Astral laughed nervously, as they both channeled a spell that would teleport them back to the base.

The rest of the battle was an easy win; everyone else had won their lanes except Talon and Katarina who were still battling their hearts out. No one disturbed them, because they knew they'd just get in their way. After the announcer yelled out the victory of Astral's team, Morgana approached the boy angrily.

[31:46] Morgana: wow, astral so damn broken

[31:57] Lulu: says the one that couldn't spell shield his ult. :^)

Astral's summoner stayed out of this fight, and all the champions were teleported back to the institute. The teen was surprised to come back to a huge auditorium decorated with welcome signs and balloons. In huge bubbly letters, a huge banner read, "Welcome to the League, Astral!"

A bunch of champions all popped out of nowhere, some were hiding behind tables and some were just completely invisible. A lady with blue skin and an outfit that looked like a bathing suit approached the teen, "Welcome... It takes a lot of effort to move like this in heels..." she whispered, disappearing into the darkness again. Astral was very confused, when a pair of people leaned on his shoulders. The boy looked up to see the jerk mid laner and his opponent, Katarina.

"Hey kid, you got some real skills there. I look forward to seeing you on the rift again." Katarina said with a smirk, her red hair flowing behind her back. The hooded man spoke up as well, "Not bad. I underestimated you." Talon said in a low tone, trying to make his voice as low as possible. Astral laughed, and pat the assassin on the shoulder, "There's so much more to see, I'll have you struck in awe." the teen joked. Talon took that as a challenge and sneered in response, "Oh, I highly doubt that." he smirked, his crimson eyes gleaming.

Astral waved goodbye to the two Noxians, and decided to walk around the auditorium. Many champions came to greet him and welcome him as the newest member. He passed by a man that was gazing at his jewels, puckering his lips at every man that passed by. The man covered in gems looked in Astral's direction, he flinched and put his hood up. He snuck by the creepy man, and decided he would not greet that guy.

After the party, the noise was settling down and people were heading to their rooms for the night. The lights shining through the cracks of the doors slowly flickered off, but the hallway lights were left on till about 2:00 AM. It was about 12:30 AM and Lux had already gone to the female section of the institute, so Astral couldn't go there. The teen had been wondering where the star of the show was. His own father, Ezreal.

The boy approached a white door, with the number 99 on a golden plate. He turned the knob; obviously it was locked so he took out a pair of silver keys the receptionist had given him. Inserting the keys, then twisting them opened the door. There, he saw an organized room with smooth hardwood floor. There were a few empty bookshelves, a desk that had been recently dusted and a rack for weapons. There was a single twin bed, with plain white sheets and two pillows. The bed's mattress looked fresh and new. This was his new home after all. There was another room with a shower and a toilet. The teen didn't bother changing into something more comfortable, instead he just crashed on the small bed and buried his nose in the soft pillow.

The teen was about to drift to sleep, when he heard low voices from the other room. He was surely curious of what they were taking about, so he slowly inched his way to the wall. Pressing his ear against the white drywall, he heard a familiar voice.

"They'll never see it coming. We'll take over this institute and make Noxus the most powerful faction. Tonight we kill the Demacian Prince, Xin Zhao."

Astral backed up, his heart rate had increased, and he thought the sound of his heart would give him away. The voice he was hearing... belonged to Katarina.

The boy heard the footsteps of many pass his door; he had to warn this Prince before it was too late. He weighed some options and all he could think of was bursting full speed on his hover board down the hall. He didn't even know where Xin Zhao's room was.

Astral decided to warn his uncle, Garen. He knew his room because of Lux's safety contacts; she gave him every Demacian's room number in case he was scared before bed or some other childish thing. "Who knew this would come in handy..." Astral thought, shaking his head in the process. His uncle, Garen didn't seem to like Ezreal very much. Every time he would visit, he would challenge Astral's father to a duel to the death. Though, Ezreal declined every time with a loud laugh.

He slowly pushed the door open, walking quietly, but quickly down the hall. He came to Garen's room and knocked on the door some too many.

"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 19... 24... 28 times?" he counted, before an angry man whipped open the door. He looked like he was ready to murder someone till he saw his nephew, "Astral, my boy! What brings you here, and so late?"

The black haired teen didn't know how to break it to him, but he had to make it fast. "I overheard... Katarina and a group of people planning to kill Xin Zhao." Astral explained, being as direct as possible. Garen's eyes widened, he immediately grabbed his huge blade and lifted it over his shoulder.

The teen pointed to his armor that was resting against the foot of the weapon rack "What about-" I started. Garen walked past Astral in a tank top and jeans. "There's no time. Let's go." the demacian shouted while grabbing Astral arm, practically dragging the boy down the hallway.

The pair came to Xin Zhao's room, it was quiet and the lights were still running in the hallway. Astral looked around for the group of Noxians, but they were nowhere to be found. The teen had chosen a place out of a security cameras view, and mostly engulfed in the dark.

"Lights go off in 5 minutes..." Astral mumbled, checking his pocket watch. The boy then realized what their plan is. "Uncle, I think they are waiting for 2:00 AM, when no one can see anything. That way, the people won't be caught on camera." Astral said in a low whisper.

Garen didn't give that a second thought, and he went straight for the Prince's door. "Prince! Open up!" the demacian shouted, banging his fist on the wooden door. Astral watched Garen's straightforward attempt, until the teen noticed the true motive of their plan. "Garen, st-" the boy was cut off, a hand was clamped over his mouth. The teen squirmed around, trying to break free of the unknown person's grip. Astral couldn't breathe anymore and he could feel his vision become cloudier and cloudier.

The teen fell back, landing right into the assassin's grasp. "Well, it seems I won't get to see your skills this time... Astral." the assassin smirked, his red eyes glowing. Astral looked up to see a very cloudy figure, "...Talon... Don't you dare... d..o..." and Astral lost consciousness. The noxian smiled, lifting his hands in the air, "This would've gone so much better if you didn't show up..." Talon muttered, watching the time tick to 2AM.

5....4....3....2....1....

And the lights flickered out.

The boy awoke the next day in his bed. He was covered in a cold sweat and his door was left open. "Dammit!" Astral shouted, reaching into his pocket for his hoverboard. He had to rush to the auditorium, he didn't care what he looked like. He threw the board into the air and jumped on the floating platform. Kicking forwards, the board took him down towards the main hall. The corridors were tall and wide, so riding through these halls were efficient and fast.

Astral burst into the room to see a bunch of champions gathered. Demacian's were grouped around a single coffin. Astral's eyes widened, he was too late. Xin Zhao was dead. The raven-haired teen hopped off his board and walked next to his mom. She looked down at him with a teary smile, trying to look happiest for her soon.

"I-It's all right." she sniffled, gazing down at the golden coffin. "He was so kind... and now our prince is gone..." Lux murmured lightly. Astral looked at her with guilt, he could've saved him. If only he had realized their plan quicker. Speaking of the plan... The teen remembered, "Mom. Where is Garen?!" the teen asked frantically, looking all around the room.

Lux looked away, she refused to answer. "I know... You think he did it, but it wasn't! He didn't murder Xin Zhao!" the teen shouted. Lux's eye's widened, "But... it was on video..." the demacian mumbled. "No. I was there too, it was the Noxians! Now, tell me where he is!" Astral demanded, his calm composure becoming more impatient.

Lux sniffled then spoke up, "He's being executed... I couldn't bring myself to watch..." she finally said, her voice was hoarse and dry. "Where?!" the teen shouted angrily, the pairs conversation catching the attention of the people around them.

"...Arena 2." she answered, and Astral immediately left her. He hopped on his board and zoomed down the hall. Astral didn't have a moment to lose, he wasn't going to let the Noxians win. Lux looked away, her eyes were swollen and red. "Garen... I should've believed you..." she mumbled lightly, before beginning to weep again. She felt the guilt of not trusting her own brother and couldn't contain her sadness anymore. She ran off, after Astral. She had to see Garen.

Astral whizzed down the corridors, almost crashing into the walls a few times, but recovered well. "Damn! Is this as fast this hunk of metal can go?!" the teen shouted impatiently, the hover board zooming down the halls. The teen was determined to stop the execution, and explain who the real culprit was.

The Noxian's had originally planned to kill Xin Zhao when the lights were out and no evidence could be caught on tape. When Garen appeared out of nowhere, they panicked. Until they thought of framing him, the demacian was restless and even busted down the door. As he walked inside the lights went out. It was perfect, the Noxians would kill Xin Zhao and leave the loyal demacian covered in his blood. If Astral came on video though, it might've been harder to explain. Talon stopped him in time, though.

The gym was quiet, and the audience were mostly every faction but the Demacian's. A man in a black robe came out, pulling Garen towards the weapon. It was meant for hanging people by their necks. The crowd was angry and people threw anything they had at the demacian. "You killed your own Prince! How could you!"

Garen bit his lip, as he tried to justify himself. He glared at the Noxians, as they all smirked back at him. Katarina looked entertained as she waved at Garen, "See you, lowlife." she mouthed, for only Garen to see. The demacian wrestled at the chains as they pulled him closer to the guillotine. "It wasn't me! I swear it wasn't!" he shouted angrily.

They tied the rope around the man's large neck, and was about to drop the blade when the doors flung open. Smoke was fuming all around, revealing a teen with black hair and blue eyes. Katarina's smirk disappeared. Talon flinched as Katarina glared at him, "You didn't kill him?!" she whispered angrily. The hooded assassin shrugged, "I... didn't feel like it." Talon muttered, glancing away from the fuming Katarina.

The executioner looked confused at the teen standing among the smoke, below the stand. The boy cleared his throat, "It wasn't Garen! I was there! He didn't do it!" Astral shouted out loud in a panicked tone. He then pointed to the group of Noxians, "It was them!" he yelled, everyone turning their heads to the group of Noxians. Someone then shouted from the crowd, "You have no proof! We saw Garen bust the door down and rush in there!" the voice shouted, echoing throughout the large arena. Astral walked towards the crowd, his blue eye's gleaming, "True, but did you see him kill Xin Zhao? There is no official evidence that Garen was the killer. It was a framed incidence."

Talon and Katarina were ready to assassinate the young teenager, but they were stopped by Darius. "If you do that, we'll be blamed. Don't make any moves in public." the buff man ordered, his eyes locked on the pair. The two glared at their leader, but obeyed. "Sir." they said, then sat back down.

Astral was then cut off by the man doing the execution. "I know you're related to this man, but you cannot excuse him for his actions!" The young prodigy paused, he didn't know how he could explain to them that Garen wasn't guilty. "Sir--" Astral began, but a female with long blonde hair stood beside him, she looked confident and brave.

Garen's eye's widened as he saw his sister approach the stage, "Lux..." he muttered lightly. He was almost heartbroken when Lux wouldn't face him. When he was being dragged to the arena, he begged for her to believe him. But, she said nothing and left Garen to be executed. Now that Lux was standing proudly beside Astral, the demacian couldn't help but feel tears of joy flowing down his cheeks.

"Sir, I believe my brother isn't guilty. As I checked the corpse of Xin Zhao, I saw the wounds inflicted were not of a heavy blade. It was several cuts all over his arms, chest and legs. Garen couldn't have made those small cuts in such a short time with his heavy blade. I demand this case by reassessed." Lux said, in a perfect tone and attitude. The crowd was now dead silent, and no one said a thing. They had all been proved wrong and they knew it.

The executioner paused, and then began untying the rope around Garen's neck. Astral smiled as Garen hopped down and embraced Astral and Lux in a giant bear hug. "Thank you so much...!" he shouted, the pair were laughing as they hugged him back. Talon grit his teeth together as he tapped his finger impatiently against the wood. "Tch. This is all his fault." he spat, glaring daggers at the overjoyed teen. Darius also turned his gaze to the boy, "He is indeed smart. We'll have to deal with him."

Katarina smiled, "With pleasure." she said, her eyes locked on the new prey. The noxians sat back, glaring at their newest target. "Enjoy your happiness for now, kid." Darius said, as the group got up, their armor clanging against the wooden benches as they exited the building.
