*NOTE* This character is not a member of the League. He plays an important part in Kara's backstory, and I thought it would be best if I shared what I had come up with for him with the rest of the League. There's some stuff in here that could potentially end up affecting the overall narrative of the comic, so if you're one of the people involved in planning and think it needs to be changed, please let me know. 

Name: Matthias Culver

Alias: Codec

Age: 28

Moral Alignment: Neutral evil

Powers: He sees the world as if it were made of code. His power gives him the ability to modify and add to that code on a small scale. However, he is unable to delete code or modify very large pieces at one time. 

Appearance: Tall and lean with pale skin and spiked-back white-blonde hair. 

Outfit: He wears a black leather vest with green highlights, high-tech black and green armbands, simple black pants, and boots. 

Personality: He is very eccentric, which makes him come across as insane to anyone trying to hold a conversation with him. On the contrary, he knows exactly what he's doing. He is known to be very sadistic and will easily manipulate people to use them in his secret plans. 

Backstory: When he first discovered his power, he didn't know how to use it to its full extent and only used it to pull off petty heists. However, Isit heard of his unique skill set and contacted him, volunteering to train him to use his power in unimaginable ways in exchange for his unwavering loyalty. Hungry for more power, he agreed to Isit's offer. 

However, as he spent more time in Isit's presence, he began to piece together Isit's plan to control/destroy all supers (we still need to decide on this, by the way). He doesn't like this plan (the reason why will depend on what we choose) and comes up with a plan to stop Isit from succeeding. His plan: use his power to create an artificial intelligence program advanced enough to stop Isit's plan--the power of a human mind placed inside an inhuman vessel. 

He slowly began to work against Isit's will, performing more and more public crimes and putting himself on the League's radar. He wanted to use a member of the League for his plan because of their training; most of them are already skilled in defeating villains. He targeted Kara specifically because of her devotion to her family. All he had to do to get her to come to him was threaten to go after them. Once he got Kara on her own, he subdued her, destroyed her body, and transferred her mind into a computer program. After this, he allowed himself to be captured, essentially giving the League the drive that contained Kara's mind. 

At the start of the comic, he is being held in a high-security prison in a special cell that neutralizes his powers. At some point, the League will figure out that he used to work with Isit and KARA will go to interrogate him. Their conversation will be the first hint to readers of the comic that KARA was created by him and is more than just an AI. He will also reveal to them some sort of key information about Isit's plan that will make their search easier (but not too easy).
