'How can someone who looks like... that! - say such outlandish things??' Akutagawa questioned in his head, looking Y/n up and down slightly. 'And look so relaxed in a situation as this?!'
Y/n couldn't help but chuckle at Akutagawa's bewildered look that was displayed on his face. "I'm sorry let me rephrase that," he claimed. "What I'm trying to say is that our abilities aren't that different from one another." He outstretched a hand towards Akutagawa. "Both of our abilities are made from our bodies. Yours is outer..." He put a hand on his chest. "...mine is just inner."
The harsh waves of the ocean crashed against the ship the two were on as Akutagawa narrowed his eyes at the detective in front of him. "You don't know anything about me. We are nothing alike. In fact, we can be the polar opposite of each other, for all I care..."
Y/n shrugs. "Opposites attract, sweetheart."
"ACK-?! Shut up!! Rashomon!"
Akutagawa, with a blushing face, launched Rashomon towards Y/n at high speeds. However, even if Y/n's eyes widened slightly, he was still prepared. Stepping one foot back to steady himself, Y/n caught Rashomon in his hand and wrapped it around his forearm a few times. Surprised that Y/n caught his attack, Akutagawa's eyes widened.
"W-What...?" Akutagawa muttered out in shock especially since that attack was meant to cut Y/n, even if it was just a little bit. He tried to retreat his ability, but he only struggled as Y/n seemed to have a death grip on him.
Y/n let out a small hum as he examined Rashomon straining and trying to get out of his hold. A little dragon-like head was even trying to gnaw at Y/n's arm, but it was no use. Glancing up, Y/n noticed the shocked look on Akutagawa's face. However, his eyes trailed on Akutagawa's coat, more specifically the one that he was holding onto.
"Oh wow, I have to say, I was wrong," Y/n says making Akutagawa raise a brow. "I thought that your ability was similar to dark matter, but now that I see it in action, it's your coat that has been cutting everything. I guess that makes sense as to why I didn't sense anything from your attacks." He smiled softly at Akutagawa. "But nonetheless, I can tell that you trained very hard to make your ability as sharp as it is. That I can respect."
Akutagawa's stance faltered slightly. Of course, it did, it wasn't every day that someone, especially an enemy compliments you on your ability. In fact, Akutagawa couldn't help but blush at the sudden compliment. However, that moment was sort lived as he was suddenly pulled.
Y/n yanked Rashomon as hard as he could, making Akutagawa stubble. Akutagawa let out a small shout in shock as he was suddenly face to face, chests almost touching, close to Y/n. Before Akutagawa could even process or say anything, he was punched in the gut. Hard.
Akutagawa coughed up some saliva and a little bit of blood as his eyes turned white. He was punched to the ground, the deck slightly cracking under him. He twitched slightly, not used to close combat, especially so suddenly.
Y/n, with his hair covering his face like always, tilted his head slightly at Akutagawa. He flexed his arm as the hold Rashomon had on him was cut up, along with his long sleeve. Now that Akutagawa can see closely, even in his blurry vision, how a little bit of Y/n's veins were black before fading away when the sun hit his skin.
"I have to say..." Y/n started as he bent down slightly and picked up a piece of black cloth that was once Rashomon. "...being able to survive in a workplace as the Mafia, it takes guts." He chuckled as he stood up straight and slowly began to walk away. "And for someone like you to work in an environment like that, well, let's just say that you're definitely stronger than me."
Akutagawa panted as blood dripped down his mouth. He slowly began to stand up, staggering as he did so. He slightly glared at Y/n, but he couldn't be fully mad him because he was still thrown off with Y/n's compliments.
"Stop... toying with me... detective..."
Y/n paused for a moment; seemingly like he was thinking. When he turned back a part of his hair split, showing his eye and that he was raising a brow at Akutagawa in confusion. However, Y/n's confusion caused Akutagawa to be confused as well. Why the hell would the person that punched him into the ground be confused?
"Toying with you?" Y/n repeated. "Why in the world would I toy with someone who is in the Mafia? I think you got it wrong. I'm being cautious of you."
Akutagawa blinked for a moment, dots for eyes. "Huh?"
Y/n rubbed the back of his neck in a slightly sheepish manner. "Of course, I'm going to be cautious of you, sweetheart. I have a hint of what you can do and that in itself is already dangerous. I know you like long distance attacks better, so I brought you closer to me, so I have a better chance on hitting you. What in the world made you think that I was 'toying' with you?"
"Ah- But- Your posture?? The nickname?!"
"That's just how I am? I mean, I even gave a nickname to your boss, so..."
"YOU WHAT?!"
Y/n ruffled his hair, making it messier that it already is. "Ah, I guess that doesn't matter now. Look, sweetheart, we don't have much time left right now." The boat started to creak in a sickening way. "This boat won't hold up much longer. It's going to go down, and soon. You should probably get a raft or something, you have enough time." He let out a small hum and looked to the side. "With how long sweetie is taking, I can assume that there is already a way out for me, yay~"
Akutagawa 'tched' slightly as he held his stomach with one hand, catching Y/n's attention. "Have you forgotten that we are enemies, Y/n?" He cringed slightly using Y/n's first name. "God, I hate that. But you shouldn't be helping me, you know? The Armed Detective Agency and the Port Mafia are rivals, and we're in the middle of a battle."
Y/n turned back to Akutagawa before tilting his hand slightly. "Enemies? Oh, no, sweetheart. You're not my enemy, the Agency's enemy, sure, but not mine. No one here is my enemy except for one person." He gave a careless shrug as he began to walk away. "And they're not even in Japan began with."
Akutagawa's eye twitches at Y/n's laidback attitude. Gritting his teeth, he raised Rashomon once more and aimed an attack on Y/n. Nothing that was meant to kill him, only a cut on his shoulder to gain his attention back on the fight.
However, when Rashomon hit Y/n's shoulder, it simply bounced off of Y/n. Wide eyes in shock, Akutagawa stared at Y/n's shoulder. That's when he noticed a hint of black, void-like substance in the cut before disappearing under his skin, in his veins, and fading away. All this time, Y/n had armor of his ability on him? Akutagawa began to think to himself about Y/n's ability.
Y/n waved a goodbye to Akutagawa, not even noticing that Akutagawa had tried to cut him. "Anyways, I'll see you some other time, sweetheart! I can't wait to see what improvements you've done the next time we meet!" He walked off, not sparing Akutagawa a glance as he disappeared from Akutagawa's sight.
Akutagawa stared where Y/n left in stunned silence. He suddenly coughed out some blood as he took a knee to the floor. His body trembled in fatigue of fighting Atsushi and the small beating Y/n caused. However, he couldn't help a small bit of blush dusting his cheeks.
'DAMN HIM!!'
───◇──◇─◇
'I wonder where Atsushi and Kyoka are...?' Y/n thought to himself as he wondered around the boat, confused on its maze-like layout. 'Did they leave already?' He peeked around a cart.
"Y/N!!" A sudden shout caused Y/n to turn around from the cart to see Atsushi running up to him. Even in his beaten-up state, limping, and blood rushing down his head, Atsushi was still determined to find Y/n. He was just lucky that he found him now than later.
"Oh, sweetie!" Y/n called out as he opened his arms and scooped Atsushi in them. Imminently, his hands went to Atsushi's face as he turned his face from side to side. "Your injuries! What in the world happened to you? Are you alright? Have you lost too much blood? Please don't tell me you're seeing double!"
"A-Ah... I-I'm fine!" Atsushi managed to squeak out with a blushing face because of Y/n's touch and how close he was to him. "This was all Akutagawa's doing but I'm alright! But we need to get off of this ship! Kunikida is already waiting for us! Wait, where is Akutagawa anyways?"
Y/n stares at Atsushi for a moment in thinking. "Akutagawa...? Oh! Him! He's already taken care of, no worries." He chuckled. "He was such a sweetheart too."
Atsushi deadpanned. "Right..."
The boat below them suddenly creaked and groaned as it began to tilt to one side, slowly throwing itself off balance. Crates slide around and both Y/n and Atsushi had to dodge them in order to not get hit.
"Looks like time's up, sweetie! We gotta get going!" Y/n shouted as he grabbed Atsushi's hand. "You said that Kuni is waiting for us right?!"
"Y-Yeah! B-But hold on slow-!" Atsushi yelled before he screeched as Y/n threw himself and Atsushi off of the edge of the boat. He snapped his eyes shut and wait for the pain of hitting the ocean water harshly.
"Y/N, YOU IDIOT!!"
As the boat behind Y/n and Atsushi exploded, Kunikida was rushing his way towards the two with a still passed out Kyoka in his motorboat. Kunikida was lucky enough to have reached Y/n and Atsushi in time to cushion their landing. However, it rocked the boat, making Y/n stumble on top of Kunikida and splash water on him.
"Y/n! You can't just jump off of a boat like that!!" Kunikida yelled but coughed as the ocean water only soaked him a little bit. "You're lucky that I gotten here on time! So reckless!!"
"I think I broke another bone..." Atsushi muttered, more to himself than to anyone else.
Y/n could only laugh as he pulled his hair out of his face. He was splashed with a hefty amount of sea water, soaking his hair and making him unable to see if it continued in his face. (E/c) eyes stared down at Kunikida as a large smile was displaced on Y/n's lips.
"Nice to see you again too, Kuni," Y/n claimed with a chuckle decorating the sentence.
Kunikida stared at Y/n's pretty face for a moment longer, savoring this moment before deadpanned and huffing. "You truly give me a headache sometimes, Y/n. Be more careful next time!"
Y/n couldn't help but pout slightly as he got off of Kunikida and sat next to him. "It wasn't even my fault this time..."
Atsushi watches as Kunikida was already heading back to shore while talking with Y/n a light conversation. He glanced beside him and noticed that Kyoka was sleeping peacefully throughout all the noise. He let out a sigh as he slumped in his seat, resting finally.
However, when Atsushi tried to turn to his side to get more comfortable, he couldn't. He looked down and noticed that Y/n was still holding his hand, rubbing his thumb over Atsushi's knuckles in a comforting manner. Atsushi couldn't help but blush. He looked down at his lap with a small smile, happy that everyone was okay now.
Y/n glanced at Atsushi, noticing his soft expression before smiling. He slightly shook his head as he turned back to Kunikida and continued with their conversation with a small smile of his own.
