(n) a group of friends who gather together purely for the enjoyment of each other's company to share experiences in life, their philosophies, values and ideas and to celebrate the simple things in life

◇─◇──◇───◇──◇─◇

The buzzing of phone calls being made and printers working in the office was heard. Some of the detectives were crowding around Y/n's desk as he was making a phone call. Or, at least, trying to make a phone call. He lets out a sigh as he shook his head, ending the call that had went to voicemail.

"Looks like Dazai went missing," Y/n claimed as he spun in his chair to face Kunikida, Kenji, and Atsushi. "I tried calling him on my phone and the work phone. Looks like he's not coming back to work anytime soon since they all went to voicemail."

"What could've happened to him...?" Atsushi said, genuinely worried about Dazai's wellbeing and whereabouts.

However, others around Y/n could care less. "Dazai went missing, again?" Kunikida grumbled with an annoyed look on his face.

Atsushi raised a brow at his superior in confusion. "He's not answering his phone, and he's nowhere near his house, not even Y/n's."

Kunikida could only hum. "Probably the river again..."

"Did he bury himself again?" Kenji questioned.

"Back in prison no doubt," Ranpo added.

'WHAT TYPE OF REACTIONS ARE THOSE?!' Atsushi thought in his head. He turned to look at Y/n for help, but the taller male could only shrug.

"My guess is that he got himself a little lady to play with again," Y/n couldn't help but chuckle out. "Ah, such a heartbreaker like always. Haha~"

Atsushi couldn't help but deadpanned, he then frowned. "But... after the other day's events... could it be that the Mafia got to him, or...?" He trailed off.

"Please," Kunikida started with his eyes closed in a content, yet pissed off manner, as he was drinking his morning tea that Y/n helped him buy. "That man's survival instinct is out of this world. Let me remind you, he's attempted suicide dozens of times but survived none the worse for wear.

"If he can't even kill himself... how could the Mafia ever mange it?"

Y/n shifts in his seat as he looks down at some papers in his hands. He knows that he can kill anyone he wanted with the flick of his wrist, even Dazai. He only decides not to because he hates blood, and seeing his friends hurt. However, he did promise himself that he will never use his ability for killing ever again.

Atsushi furrowed his brows in concern. "But..."

"How about I have 'Ichiro look into it, yeah?" Y/n spoke up with a smile, wanting to leave his thoughts behind.

"I heard my name," Tanizaki walked into the room with a stack of papers in hand and a small smile on his lips. "If there something you need Y/n?"

"Ah, Tanizaki! You're back!" Atsushi spoke up, turning to his friend.

Tanizaki rubbed the back of his head as Y/n took the papers from his hands with a small thank you. "Yeah, Naomi and I have been out the past few days on an errand that Y/n gave us. It was a little sudden and we had to leave right away that's why we haven't been here often."

Y/n chuckled at his apprentice. He patted Tanizaki's head with a smile, his hair covering his eyes like usual. "Yes, and you did a wonderful job on that errand. However, I do have another assignment for you, but you get to stay at the office this time."

"Oh, thank god," Tanizaki sighed out in relief. "Less chances of getting hurt..."

"Speaking of getting hurt," Kunikida said as he turned to Tanizaki. "How many times did Yosano take you apart that day?"

Y/n couldn't help but chuckle when Tanizaki's face immediately went pale of color as he hung his head low. "Four times..." Tanizaki mumbled.

"There, there..." Y/n said with a small comforting smile as he patted Tanizaki's back.

Tanizaki looked up right at Atsushi's eyes making the tiger flinch a bit. "Atsushi, whatever you do in this agency, do not allow yourself to get hurt."

Y/n chuckled lightly. "At least she went lightly on you that time."

"It's your fault for not running the moment you knew it was you versus the Mafia," Kunikida claimed as he crossed his arms across his chest.

"Be nice, Kuni..."

Ranpo couldn't help but laugh as he hopped onto Y/n's desk and sitting on top of it. "That's called 'having a knack for avoiding trouble'," he claimed as he leaned against Y/n's figure, who was doing some paperwork. " A real survival instinct. So, like this... danger's coming in about ten seconds."

"Huh?" Atsushi muttered out.

"Great~ I overslept..." Yosano yawned out as she entered the office rubbing her eyes from the tiredness.

Atsushi tiled his head slightly. "Ms. Yosano?"

Yosano let out a small hum as she turned to Y/n, who was doing paperwork at his desk with a pleased smile, and to Atsushi, who was standing around confused. "Ah, Y/n and... the new recruit, Atsushi, right? Any injuries?"

"Ah, yes, and no I'm fine, thank you," Atsushi managed to peep out.

"...Darn..." Yosano muttered looking away before walking up to Y/n with a big smile on her face. "Well if it isn't my favorite office worker~"

Y/n couldn't help but chuckle at Yosano's sudden playfulness. "I'm the only office worker you interact with, beloved," he claimed. "Remember what you said about them? Something about them being 'unwashed rats'-?"

"Shut it and let me appreciate you. Anyways, I'm going to go shopping for a few things and I want to know if you want to come with me. With the way it looks, the new recruit can help us with our bags!"

"What...?" Atsushi muttered in shock. He looked behind him and everyone had already scattered away.

"We can go shopping for the new designer clothes that just came out," Yosano told Y/n excitedly. "Not to mention maybe some new straps, leather, and those stuff might be on sale again. I've been dying to dress you up again for the longest time!"

Y/n chuckles at Yosano's excitement. He stood up with a few folders in hand and gave Yosano an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, beloved, but I have an errand I need to run the next town over so I can't. But I'm sure that you can go shopping with Atsushi's help."

"What?!"

Yosano sighed with a playful pout. "Boo... but I get you next shopping run, right?"

"Of course," Y/n claimed. "I have to get going now. I'll see you all later. Oh, and sweetie?"

"Y-Yes?" Atsushi stuttered out.

Y/n smiled sweetly, his eyes holding a small glint in them as they peeked through his hair. "Good luck~" Then he left the office.

Atsushi and Yosano stood beside one another for a moment. They glanced at each other for a moment. Atsushi felt a shiver go down his spine when he noticed the glare with the pointed smile that Yosano gave him.

'WHAT?!' Atsushi thought to himself.

Y/n chuckled to himself as he walked down the stairs to the first floor. In all honesty, he felt sorry for Atsushi, but he would've felt even more sorry if Atsushi had to deal with Yosano and himself. Y/n knows that once he and Yosano goes shopping for clothes and food, it'll turn morning to night in a second.

───◇──◇─◇

Y/n stretched after a long two-hour train ride to Hamamatsu, the city that he was assigned to for the errand he was doing. He lets out a small yawn as he looks around the plaza that he had wondered into. He was holding onto a white binder that was littered with small doodles in the pocket in the front (curtesy to Naomi and Tanizaki when they were slightly younger).

Y/n walked around the city for a few minutes before finding himself in front of a cafe. From the amount of people that were in there, it must have a high rating and well in business. Shrugging to himself, Y/n walked into the cafe and waited his turn in line. He just really needed a (hot drink) to wake himself up from the long train ride, and for him to get energy to continue on with the errand.

As Y/n was waiting in line for his turn, he would peek at his paperwork and reorganize them to his liking. He skimmed through the contents of his paperwork and realized that the area that he was supposed to investigate and take notes on was close to the cafe that he found. He smiled, happy that he didn't have to work so much on his errand today.

"Next please!" The barista called out.

"Hi, can I get (hot drink) in a medium, please?" Y/n asked as he walked up to the counter.

The barista smiled with a nod, pushing some buttons on the cash register. "Of course, can I get your name?"

"L/n."

"Okay, your order will be out shortly. However, because of how crowded we are today, you'll either have to share a table with someone or wait outside," the barista said apologetically. "I'm really sorry but it's the policy around here."

Y/n waved his hand dismissively. "Oh, that's quite alright, I'm sure that someone would let me sit with them, if not, I don't mind standing. Thank you so much."

"Yes! And thank you for understanding!"

Y/n couldn't help but chuckle at the barista. He began to look around the cafe while straying away from the counter to find a table that had at least one empty chair. Wherever Y/n looked, it seemed like the strangers around him were making conversation with one another, despite not knowing each other. It makes Y/n smile seeing humans being humans every once in a while.

Whilst Y/n in searching for a place to sit, he noticed a red-haired male with a black and red hat on his head. He couldn't help but notice that the red head was one of the only people sitting alone. However, Y/n couldn't blame the other people, the short male was emitting a rather... menacing aura around him, making everyone stray away from him out of instinct. But not Y/n.

Y/n chuckles as he walks closer to where the red head sits. 'He reminds me of Dazai when I first saw him.' He then spoke up to the other male as he was closer to the table now. "Hi, is it okay if I sit here with you?" He questioned.

The other male seemed to be shocked that someone came up to him. However, that shock was washed away rather quickly as he couldn't help but glare up at Y/n unconsciously, he was having a shitty day to begin with. He honestly just wanted to get his drink and get out of the crowded place like this one.

"I could care less about what you do," the man with the hat said. "Make yourself comfortable, I guess."

Y/n gave a closed eyed smile at the other male, one of his eyes showing through his hair as he sat down across the other. "Thank you. You know, I've never seen someone's hair like that before, it looks really nice on you."

The man seemed to have flinched at the compliment, obviously not used to them. He looked to the side as he scowled slightly, rolling his eyes a bit. "You're just saying that... Thank you, I guess..."

Y/n chuckled, shaking his head slightly. "Not really, your hair really is pretty. The color and the style are something I wouldn't have thought of before for someone." He put his hand on his chest, smiling at the other. "I'm L/n Y/n, but please, just call me Y/n."

The redhead raised a brow at Y/n, he seemed to be thinking about something before letting out a sigh and fully turn to face Y/n. His scowl had calmed slightly, and the business of the cafe started to bother him less.

"Chuuya," the redhead introduced himself. "Nakahara Chuuya. And since I get to call you by your first name, just call me Chuuya."
