A warm beam of sunlight made him open his eyes, blinded by the light. The wind softly stroke his skin, air smelling like spring and cotton candy, perhaps mixed with a bit of love. His surroundings were rather unusual, an open field with a single cherry tree that he was standing under, although everything in the distance seemed to fade. Water was rushing somewhere, probably a lake or an ocean. He couldn't remember ever being there before and felt slightly uneasy, yet a comforting warmth was rising up in his chest as he saw a familiar figure walking towards him. He couldn't help but smile, genuinely happy after a long, long time of darkness and boredom. "I haven't seen you in years...",he spoke quietly, afraid his voice would betray him. The other man nodded slowly, keeping his head down, eyes not meeting once. "Why won't you speak to me?",the boy asked anxiously, afraid that he'd done something to upset his friend. The raven haired looked up at the pink decorated branches over them and raised his hand to pluck a single cherry blossom, carefully placing it in the boy's hazelnut colored hair, hand stroking along his cheek and finally looking into his golden eyes. "I miss you",the boy whispered, leaning into the beloved touch. Silence was his answer yet again. The man leaned forward until their lips were touching for a single, wonderful, and oh so dearly longing moment. But as beautiful as the moment of shared passion was, the more painful was the moment when they parted and let the distance between them only grow and grow. "We'll see us again, Light-kun",were the only words that left his lips when he walked back to where he came from. "No... no don't leave me!",Light screamed and ran after him, noticing how cold it suddenly got as the sun went away, the wind brutally whipping the tree whose blossoms died and were blown away. The ocean sounded more like a monster out to hunt him than a friend wanting to calm him. "Don't go away! Don't leave me alone!",he called out as the hard rain struck in his face. The faster he ran, the bigger the distance grew, and the more he wanted to be with him, the less the man was visible. Caught in the cold and painful darkness, chasing the loving and warm light that was getting more and more out of his reach, until it was gone. With tears in his eyes he cried out until his throat was sore:"No, I miss you! L, I want to be with you!"
Light's eyes snapped open to be greeted by the darkness of his bedroom, moon shining through the window onto his bed. Nothing had changed. It was still the same. There was someone sleeping peacefully next to him. But it wasn't him- and it would never be him again.
