Lawlight Headcanon: Death and Angels
It had been five years since Light died in the warehouse that day. Or maybe it hadn't. There was neither day nor night in the Shinigami realm, and time slowly lost its meaning. The only thing he knew was that it had been long, long ago. So long that his hands had formed into dark claws, his eyes turned red and that he grew wings. His skin turned into dragon like scales at some parts, his gaze was cold, hard and empty. It had been so long in fact that he forgot about what happened before. Forced himself to, and other things just vanished themselves. His mind was blank, expect for something- no, someone that he could never forget. Not fully at least. Light knew that there was someone more important to him than anyone else, but he couldn't remember who. And it tore him apart. He had tried so hard to remember, but it never worked in the slightest, and so he stopped trying. There was no use to. He would never get anything out of it. Never. He would be here until he faded to dust, alone forever. "You know",Ryuk told him once,"you can still get out of here." Yes, that old story. If an angel would fall in love with you, he'd have the chance to get you out of this world and into heaven with him. They took the young and pretty ones who still looked human, the old monsters had lost their chance. It sounded like a fairytale. But this was no fairytale, and would never be. Nobody really believed in that anymore, it had probably nothing to it anyway. A precious myth born from a pained call of desperation, nothing more. No one would come for him. He had lost his chance for a new life long ago. And even if, he could never love again. His heart belonged to someone that he didn't know anymore, and it didn't matter, but it tore him apart. "Light! You gotta come look at this!",the Shinigami called out for him, more excited than usually. Blank eyes continued to stare into grey nothingness, voice worn out from not talking in ages:"What is it now?" Laughing filled the silence:"It's your lucky day, kid" "Your jokes are getting old" "They aren't, you're just too dumb to laugh. But if you don't want to come then I'll tell him, what a shame" "Tell who?",Light asked, eyes turning to where Ryuk was standing. Something was off. Very off. The Shinigami laughed again, his answer making those blank and cold red eyes shine with an emotion that was beyond their comprehension:"The blue angel that has come only for you. Your very personal angel, if you know who I mean"
