Chapter 10: There's a Silver Lining in Every Dark Day

Author's Note: Thank you all for waiting so long. Again, I'm really busy so thank you all for still reading this. I recognize the 128 people who are either still reading, or just dropped out midway to the story.

—---------------------Delaney's perspective-------------------

I think of Alohi as my best friend chatters about some guy that ditched her on a date. Honestly, my baby sister could be targeted, so I was told by Charmaine to make sure she's safe. It's still weird how they were so convincing. It's like they knew what to say to let Alohi go along with them.

"Alright, it's about your sister and how the guys took her on a cruise, right? It's fine, it would've been a dead giveaway if they were trying to con us," my best friend says with shiny gray eyes.

"Annalise, what if they knew how to fool us? I could be playing into the enemy's hands," I say.

Annalise tucks a dark red auburn strand of hair behind her ear. "It's fine, you should be more worried about Alessandro, your assistant."

I sigh at the thought of my annoying assistant. He is not FBI material and is a big wimp. Moreover, he called me Dela Devil in front of everyone!

"My 'assistant' can't even go without falling into the enemy hands," I say with air quotes on the word assistant.

Me and Annalise have been best friends since we came to the orphanage. My parents left me because of my dyslexia. They thought that my dyslexia made me dumb, so they decided to not deal with me. Just because I have dyslexia doesn't mean I can't be smart.

Annalise won't tell me why she came to the orphanage. She says that it's not something she likes talking about. I'm cool with it. I do wonder though how she ended up there. We both met and we're the same age. You never saw us separated after that fateful day. When the FBI came that day to me and Annalise (it was the day I got adopted), they thought we were good enough to help them. Ever since then, I was a part of the FBI.

My phone rang, interrupting my train of thoughts. "Hello, this is Delaney Solace," I say with confusion.

"Dela, Alessandro is kidnapped by the enemy! We haven't heard from him ever since he huffed out of HQ!" Charmaine said in her British accent, "We need you to get to the Keeper of Hearts."

"Wait, Keeper of Hearts?!" I say, confused.

Then reality hits me. The same cruise ship that Alohi is on is being controlled by Mad Einstein.

"Yes, apparently he's gathering up all the kids he could on a cruise. We don't know what he plans to do."

"I'll be right there, Maine."

I hang up, tell Annalise, and we both start calling all units. I hope Alohi and all those kids are ok. I'm not worried about that brainless Alessandro.

—------------------------------------------------------------

Alohi and Aanya snuck out of class again. This time Lou, Ox, and Nolan were brought along. They were trying not to be seen.

"Hey guys, what are you girls doing here?" a voice says.

Both teens were scared until Alohi realized that it was Larisa, Melissa, and Nyssa. The trio were 12 years old and loved to cause mischief. When the three girls got Pretty Dolls named Kitty, Lydia, and Tuesday, they had more tricks up their sleeves. They were as close as triplets.

"We're trying to get people to know that some evil guy is running the ship, and so we need to rebel against him," Alohi explained.

"That's illogical, there's no way that the father of Eloy Heart is a villain. He's donated to the poor, helped the homeless people, and has done everything he could to help everyone," Nyssa said, fidgeting with the end of her dark brown Dutch braid.

"It's all a show. Wherever we're going he's gonna ditch us there," Aanya said, pushing back her black horn rimmed glasses.

"They're right, Nyssa. We told you, they're just gonna ditch us at that secret location," Lydia said, hopping up on Larisa's shoulder.

"Lydia! Now those girls know we're not a non-living item," Kitty said, groaning as she sat on Nyssa's shoulder.

"Those girls aren't the enemy though," Tuesday said as she relaxed on Melissa's shoulder.

"You imbecile, we don't talk! We're things not people!"

"But we talk with our child all the time when no one's around," Nolan said cluelessly.

"Finally, my arms were hurting! I'd need a stretch right now," Lou said, stretching his right arm.

Lou, Ox, and Nolan were now getting up from their doll position.

"Other dolls talk?! So cool!" Melissa said, tucking her bubblegum pink hair behind her ear.

"They told us, remember?! Sometimes you move too slow, Melissa," Nyssa said, groaning at her capability at grasping facts.

"Girl, if the world was at your pace, then the world would move a lot slower," Larisa said, reapplying her lip gloss.

"Wait, is that my lip gloss?" Melissa said, blinking.

"Guys, we need as many people as possible. And anyways you guys share your makeup, lip glosses, and everything fashion related," Alohi said, groaning at where the conversation was going.

They looked sheepish as Alohi glared at them. "Let's go now," Lou said, breaking up the tension.

And so they got most of the people to help them. When they came to Maizy, she said in an excited voice, "Anything for the best babysitter ever! Aanya is better than my old babysitter. She just texted on her phone!"

The plan was set. Alohi and Aanya would confront Eloy's Dad and then Nyssa, Melissa, and Larisa would use their spy skills to upload a video of Eloy's Dad confessing the truth. Chances were that he'd be mad and try to harm both teens, so that's where all the younger kids come in.

Kids 5-10 years old would cause enough chaos until the Police come and rescue them. Maizy would help Alessandro because she could unlock a lock within ten seconds and that was faster than any of the older kids, who couldn't tell the difference between the sun and the moon.

Alohi felt proud that it was going smoothly, but she said that if she wasn't there then Aanya would have to confront him herself. Aanya understood because they couldn't take any risks. Little did the girls know Eloy was now getting suspicious.

Eloy knew that Alohi had the potential of being perfect, so why was she hanging out with that imperfection? He suspected something was up and it had something to do with his Dad. Even though he was seen as a narcissistic perfectionist, he had a kind heart of gold.

He would help anyone and do anything to make people happy. Not many people saw this side of him. Not even in college. It was something only a few people could defend him for.

Eloy followed Alohi as she went to her room holding Lou. Before he could see her do anything, a mysterious cloaked figure had grabbed Alohi, and put a hand on her mouth to prevent her from shouting. The figure then knocked her unconscious and carried her off.

Shocked by the random guy that kidnapped her, Eloy decided to follow the figure. After a while of walking, the figure placed Alohi down on a chair and tied up her wrists and legs. The figure pushed down his hood to reveal that it was Eloy's Dad. Eloy had no words to this. His Dad was doing something really wrong. Something that was definitely taught in kindergarten to not do.

He didn't say anything as he watched his Dad gently remove Lou from her grasp. The doll was trying to fight him but he had a good grip on Lou.

"Let go of me and leave Alohi alone, you annoying ignorant human! Let go now!" the blonde shouted.

"Oh Louis, you should know better. After all, you shouldn't have stopped teaching those dolls. You should've left your feelings behind, and teach the dolls so that we can profit," Eloy's Dad said emotionlessly.

Lou then realized who he was and narrowed his eyes with anger in his bright blue eyes. "You worked alongside the person that made me. You told me that emotions were meaningless and that I should be perfect, Dexter."

"Such a shame, Lou. I taught you to respect me as the person who shaped you into the person you are now."

He laughed bitterly before saying, "Please, the only thing you shaped me into was a lonely doll that could never be loved. Until, I found Alohi."

"Oh yes, since that girl knows and owns you, we need to make sure this is done in such a way that it doesn't wreck my reputation."

"You leave her out of this. I'm actually happy because of her," Lou growled at him.

"So cute, you love your human. Don't you remember Rule #127?" Eloy's Dad said, grinning evilly.

Lou blinked in confusion and said, "There are like 1020 rules in that fat book."

"Well anyways, Rule #127 is that prototypes can't feel emotion. They are to not feel and instead keep it to yourself. No one cares about you, Louis. Not even the dolls respect you."

"I respect him," a voice says.

Lou was near tears but he turned his head to see that Alohi had woken up.

"He is the greatest doll ever, and no one has a heart like him. He is a great friend and he's funny. You don't talk trash about him when I'm here. You're being a big bully and I'll put an end to it somehow," Alohi said with a fierce look in her eyes.

Eloy's heart ached as Alohi's last sentence reminded him of his former girlfriend.

—------------------------Flashback---------------------------

Eloy and a beautiful girl with flaming red hair and gorgeous light brown eyes that sparkled in the sun. Her freckles lit up in a way that made her seem happier somehow.

"Loy Loy, you're a nice guy you know?" she said, smiling warmly.

"Please, you're better than me, Letitia," Eloy says, smiling just as warmly as the girl.

Letitia slapped him lightly on the shoulder and said, "Eloy Heart, that's their problem if they don't like you as you are. You are the kindest person I know, and even if you seem cold and like picking out flaws then people should look more deeper into you. If that big bully, Jake, is saying rude things about you, then I'll put an end to it somehow."

"That's just not-"

Eloy was cut off by a kiss. Letitia pulled him in and kissed him with all her joy and bravery. He kissed back, not bothering what he was going to say. He had the girl of his dreams anyways, so it didn't matter.

"C'mon Loy Loy, let's get some ice cream. Race ya there."

"No fair, you had a head start."

Both the teens were laughing as they went to the nearby ice cream place.

—------------------------------------------------------------

Eloy tried controlling his breaths. That girl, Alohi was her name, had so much of Letitia in her. He couldn't bear to see her trapped by his own Dad. Now, he needed to speak up and have Letitia's bravery.

"Stop it, Dad! Let her go!" Eloy said with all the bravery he could bring.

His Dad was taken aback by his son. "What are you doing here, son?"

"Doing something that someone would've wanted me to do."

"You still care about that silly girl? There are more girls out there! Letitia wasn't the only girl on Earth."

"Mr. Heart, you do know you're busted, right?" a voice said.

When Eloy's Dad turned around, he saw every child near the door. Nyssa had recorded the whole thing live. Now, there were sirens of the police. Alessandro stepped forward and put him in cuffs.

"Alright, that'll cost you a lifetime in prison. You're going to answer to all the trouble you've caused," Alessandro said, walking him out to the police and FBI.

Eloy brought out a locket that had a picture of himself and Letitia, his former girlfriend. He held it close to his heart.

"That locket must mean something to you. Who gave it?" Alohi asked, curious of the sudden emotion.

"This was given to me by my former girlfriend. Her name was Letitia Brown. She was the greatest person I knew, but she died in a car crash. I loved her with all my heart. I'm sorry I'm a perfectionist, but all I wanted to do was help you guys. If you had listened in my classes, they gave hints on the secret location," Eloy said, his sky blue eyes shining with remorse and emotion.

Alohi then gave a silver moon charm. She put it in his hands and said, "This is for extra bravery. This was given by my Dad, but he would've wanted me to give it to you."

Eloy thanked Alohi and soon the FBI flooded the ship. She saw Delaney and a platinum blonde haired girl with amber eyes rebuking Alessandro. Alohi walked over there and said, "Please don't blame Alessandro for being the problem. He was really helpful with helping everybody."

The girl was surprised and she said in a British accent, "Oh, you're Delaney's little sister. Nice to meet you, but Alessandro has broken many rules."

"Who does great things just by following the rules? He has shown bravery today, and he was also part of the reason I came up with a plan."

That surprised the girl but she shook it off and said, "Well, I suppose you're right. The name's Charmaine, so if you ever see me again then that's my name."
