Green

Colour blindness, that's what I have. All it means is that my world is a little less green and yellow than everyone else's, whatever those colours look like. My friends who have googled it and seen the difference said it looks cool, but it's just normal to me.

It is sad though, that while everyone says they're the most beautiful they've seen, to me they're just a medium shade of grey. Mine are too. Ironic, I think, that I see both of our eyes as grey when in truth only mine are.

That's what leads us up to this point, standing in the bedroom with me facing away from the window and towards her as she slowly puts the glasses on my face.

"Ready?" She asks gently and I take a shaky breath before nodding. Her hands drop to my shoulder and I slowly peel my eyes open.

"Jesus motherfucking Christ." I breathe, bringing my hands up to her face as she smiles and those stunning (yes, absolutely stunning) eyes flick down before back into mine.

"Do they work?" She asks cautiously and with a nervous laugh, and let out a just as breathy one.

"I think green might be my new favourite colour." I smile in lieu of a response and lean forwards to see them a little closer. Yep, if all the other greens look anything like this green that it is indeed my favourite.

"Always a charmer." She winks and I just sigh in awe.

"Turn around." She suggests but I don't. Instead, I lean in and plant a quick kiss on her nose before closing my eyes and holding my arms out to my sides.

"Spin me." I smile and she laughs as she grips my waist and turns me around.

"There." She announces and I reopen my eyes to see the second most beautiful green in my life, and the third, and what I'm sure must be every shade of green and yellow outside of the window. The sunflowers that we placed on the windowsill aren't white anymore, but I bright colour fills their petals. The grass and the trees have been brought to life too. It's marvellous.

"Wait." I mutter, and I sense her frown beside me so I reach around for her shoulders and move her to stand between me and the window and then look into her eyes again, "That's better."

She giggles softly and it's my favourite sound, and her eyes squint and they're my favourite colour, and her nose scrunches and I know for sure that she is my favourite person.

A short one but I hope you enjoyed.
