SUMMARY

Beatrice Haldane knew she wasn't cut out to be a nurse. It wasn't that she wasn't smart enough, or couldn't handle the pressure, but her empathy got the best of her. Bottling it up, Beatrice pushes on, trying to save every soldier she can. The lines of the lost that she kept in her diary blurred together. "Your heart is too big," her brother had always told her.
