Toothbrush

Soft rays of the sun rolled over the windowsills and spilled into the prison. Dust molecules floated through the air and shimmered as they brushed through the streams of light. Serene silence washed over the prison and caressed the empty cells, a single fly rushed over the empty surface of a metal table before fluttering it's wings and flying off.

Not a source of life seemed to be present, nor was a single can of food left laying around. The prison was swiped clean- the grey concrete walls bare and dull, and the stiff bunkbeds neatly made. Occasional growls and thuds came from the tunnels bellow the prison and echoed throughout the empty rooms.

But despite the calmness and stillness inside the prison, the outside was the opposite. A loud rumble split the silence apart, causing a nearby deer to lift its heads and scramble away. The few stray walkers, roaming the field of the prison, turned their heads into the direction of the loud rumble, only to see truck after truck, filled with armed people, speeding towards the prison.

A single grenade launcher was lifted and a finger pressed down on the trigger. A grenade shot out of the gun and soared through the air before slamming into one of the watchtowers. A loud explosion filled the air, followed by flames engulfing the watchtower, and large pieces of concrete falling and slamming into the ground. One of the walkers snarled, and dragged it's broken leg across the grass and into the direction of the trucks, only for a piece of concrete to fall from the destroyed watchtower and smash it's upper body into the ground.

Guns were raised and bullets were fired- filling the air with loud bangs and booms. The bullets flew through the air in all directions, some hitting the stray walkers and others digging into the ground or bouncing off of the metal fence. The trucks sped into the field of the prison, just as another grenade left the grenade launcher and hit another watchtower.

The roof of the tower caved in and the glass shattered, flames erupted from the tower and ate it from the inside. Debris and blocks of concrete fell to the ground, creating loud thuds that mixed together with the sounds coming from the guns.

The first truck rolled to a stop in the middle of the field, making the rest follow in suit. But the gunfire didn't cease, it only grew larger. Everyone sitting and standing in the trucks raised their guns and fired at the walkers stumbling towards them. Bullet after bullet was painted a scarlet red as they plunged into the rotten skulls of the walkers. And only when the body of the last walker fell to the ground and the growls turned into silence, did the gunfire cease.

The wheels of the trucks spun around to lead the them further towards the main prison. A dead body of a walker laid across the gravel path, leading up to the prison, only for a wheel to drive across the walker's head and squish it underneath the weight. Blood soaked the wheel and left behind a trail of scarlet red as the truck rammed into the metal gate and drove into the courtyard of the prison.

The doors to the trucks flew open and armed people jumped out. Their eyes bounced in all direction- taking in their surroundings and trying to spot any potential danger. Their hands gripped their raised guns and hearts pounded in their chests as they took wary steps forward to go deeper into the courtyard. Despite agreeing to join the war and coming with the governor, these people were nothing more than civilians who had never witnessed, or participated, in a war.

One of the doors of a truck pushed open and a body slipped through. The governor lifted his hand and readjusted his trench-coat as his eye carefully dragged over the grey, concrete walls of the prison and the metal fence surrounding it, before pausing at the rusty metal door leading into it. The governor laid his rifle loosely over his shoulder and eyed his group- only then noticing one of his men looking back at him and shaking his head.

The governor got the silent message- allowing a small smirk to tug at the edge of his lips as he lifted his hand and gestured towards the rusty metal door, that was guarded behind a fenced gate. Not even a second later, a hook, that was connected with a car, was secured around the metal fence. The car rumbled before the wheels screeched against the pavement as it drove backward- ripping the metal gate off of it's hinges and giving the group access to the prison.

With a hint of fear and thirst for blood painted across their faces, the Woodburians pulled the metal door open with a loud creak before entering the prison. Their lungs filled with dust and eyes hid behind their guns. The sound of their footsteps echoed throughout the eerily silent prison as they descended the metal steps and walked into the main room.

The governor lingered in the middle of the group- his face bare of emotion and posture relaxed. He didn't look like he was in the middle of a possible attack, more like he was eyeing a possible house he and his pregnant wife could buy. He carefully analysed the empty cardboard boxes resting in the shelves, and the dust coated metal tables before rotating his body in the direction of the cells and stepping into the C block.

The governor didn't say anything and merely stood with his legs glued to the ground as a few members of his group walked ahead of him and eyed the empty cells. As soon as one of them reached the last cell of the first floor, they twisted their head around and offered the governor a single shake of the head.

For a split second, the governor's face darkened as disappointment washed over him. A sour scowl pulled at the corner of his lips and the grip on his gun tightened before he whirled around with a huff falling from his lips. But just as he was about to leave the C block, a scratchy chuckle bounced off of the walls, followed by a voice,

"Hey, look at this."

A single brow rose and Governor's lean body turned in the direction of the voice. The man watched as Kolten stepped out of one of the empty cells with a bible grasped between his stubby fingers. A sharp knife of irritation stabbed into the pit of the governor's stomach, making his lip curl and eyes narrow. But not even a second later, the look washed away and was replaced by calmness and neutrality.

"What is it?" The governor questioned lowly, taking a step towards the grinning man. He reached out his hand and ripped the bible out of Kolten's fingers. Ignoring the small glare coming from Kolten, the governor gazed down at the bible, only to see a yellow marker painted across a paragraph in the open page,

'And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.'

The bible was thrown out of The governor's hand with a small scoff falling past his lips. Without even looking back at the fallen book, the Governor raised his chin, and sauntered past his people and into the main room.

The group parted like a sea as the governor walked through them in order to get to the front and address them all. Their eyes stayed glued on his back and feet shuffled a single step forward in his direction. Just as the governor spun around to face the group, a loud thud echoed throughout the tunnels beneath the prison- capturing everyone's attention, including the Governor's.

"Give me a flashlight." The governor extended his hand, while keeping his gaze locked onto the barred door leading into the tunnels.

A flashlight was placed in his palm and his fingers immediately curled around it. His eye left the barred door and focused back on the scared faces of his people, only to flicker to his right-hand man, Martinez, and the Male next to him, "Let's split up. You, lead the group in that direction." The governor pointed at the other Male before shoving his hand in the opposite direction, and then he turned to address Martinez, "And you...follow me." The Governor ordered without any room for debate. He didn't even bother looking back at his group as they split apart, instead, he switched on the flashlight and stepped towards the door.

The governor reached out his hand and pulled the door open with a small creak. His eyes met with the darkness of the tunnels as he listened to the sound of distant growls, only for him to raise the flashlight and crack the darkness with a beam of light.

"Follow me."

With a quick wave of the hand, the group split apart- one half following after the governor and the other after the other Male. The governor allowed two of his people to slip past him and walk ahead of him, in case something went wrong so that he wouldn't be the one absorbing the attack.

Droplets of water dripped down from a broken pipe and created a puddle next to the wall. The noise of the droplets hitting the surface of the water, mixed together with the sound of distant creaks and eerie silence. The silence was swatted away by the soft breaths escaping the mouths of the scared Woodburians, and the darkness evaporated with the help of the flashlights.

The Woodburians placed hesitant footsteps as they traveled through the empty tunnels. Their gazes hovered on the metal doors lined along the sides of the hallway before flickering away. Each footstep and breath coming from them, seemed louder than they originally were, and they bounced off of the walls and travelled through the empty tunnels .

"Hey," Everyone's eyes flickered into the direction of the barely audible whisper, only for their eyes to fall onto the governor. The young teenage boy in front of the governor, turned his head around, revealing a pair of crystal blue eyes, that looked back at the leader expectantly. The governor nodded at the hallway to their left and shone his flashlight in that direction, "Go there." He ordered firmly, receiving a nod from the younger boy.

The group followed after the blue eyed boy, only for a loud creak to fill the silent hallways. The Woodburians froze and looked around as if someone was looming in the hallway next to theirs and waiting to pounce on them any second.

"Stop." The governor quickly instructed, eyeing the hallway before tilting his head back and allowing the light from the flashlight to land on his face. His eyes dragged over metal pipes running along the ceiling before dropping back down to the blue eyed boy, who stared back at him with wide eyes, "Go on." With a small nudge against his shoulder, the blue eyed boy frowned and turned back around.

But before anyone could take even a step forward, a small whoosh, followed by a clink, brushed over the governor's ears. A metal can rolled across the concrete ground until it hit the edge of his boot and stopped rolling. The governor's eyes dropped down to the small can laying by his foot, only for his eye to widen and his feet to jump a step back, "Get ready-!" The Governor's voice boomed through the hallway, only to be cut off by pearly white clouds of smoke pushing out of the tiny can and washing over the room.

Another can was throw in the direction of the Woodburians- leaving behind a trail of whiteness and engulfing them in a cloud of confusion. Their eyes teared up and lungs burned with every breath they inhaled. Guns were raised and bullets were fired in the direction of the cans, the gunshots boomed throughout the hallways, attracting the walkers roaming the empty halls.

A flash of red crashed in the middle of the chaos- the redness mixed together with the whiteness of the smoke and attacked the terrified faces of the Woodburians. Loud sirens cut through the air and intertwined with the frantic screams of the civilians and the growls coming from the hallway next to theirs. Bullet after bullet left the guns grasped between shaking fingers, and hit the edge of the concrete walls- leaving behind small holes before bouncing off and falling to the ground with metallic clinks.

The shuffling of feet was barely hearable in the midsts of chaos, but as the rotten face of a walker broke through the mist coating the air, loud screeches echoed throughout the hallway. A bullet lodged into the walker's skull and it's dead body fell forward, knocking down the woman in front of the walker. Another walker pushed past the wall of whiteness- allowing the Woodburians to take a peak at its gaping mouth and yellow eyes before it was shot down by a stray bullet flying through the air.

Screams, growls, sirens.

The noises mixed together in a mush- none of them recognisable next to each other. Body after body fell to the ground, creating a path of dead walkers leading up to the terrified group. The governor raised his gun and shot down a walker, he stepped back as its body fell forward and slamming into the ground by his feet. His eyes stung from the smoke and head pounded from the noise around him, he raised his hand and pressed his sleeve against his nostrils to block the smoke from entering his lungs, only for a shoulder to ram into his and push him into a wall.

"Watch it!" The growl that fell from his lips, slipped past the ears of Woodburians. His head swung around and shoulders straightened as he watched them push and shove each other in order to rush out of the tunnels, "Get back here and fight! Get back here!" The governor ordered in a loud shout, raising his gun and placing the tip underneath the head of a walker. His finger pressed down on the trigger and bullet plunged into the skull of the snarling walker, while his eyes stayed glued on his group.

"Come back here!"

"Come back here."

A small snicker followed after the mocking words. A can of smoke twirled between long fingers only to slip out of the sweaty palm and nearly fall to the ground. Jungkook gasped and quickly reached out, trying to catch the falling can before it hit the ground. His fingers curled around the edge of the can and pulled it to his chest.

Jungkook stood still- his eyes wide and nose scrunched up. His lips parted to release a breath of relief and shoulder slumped, he pushed a strand of hair out of his face and continued to twirl the can between his fingers. A hint of smirk appeared on Jungkook's youthful face as he pressed his shoulder into the grey wall and watched the metal door next to him.

Distant cries of fear wrapped around the harsh screeches of the sirens, and got pulled in a hug by the shuffling of feet and snarls of the walkers. Smoke slid into the room from the small crack beneath the door and brushed against the soles of his boots. Jungkook stood still in the boiler room, keeping his eyes locked on the metal door.

The plan was quite simple- give off an impression that the group had left the prison in order to let down the Governor's guard and make him more cocky, and then strike when he least expects it. Jungkook and Taehyung were positioned in one of the rooms along the hall, that the governor had roamed. As soon as the two heard the multiple footsteps coming their way, they had carefully slid open the metal door and throw the cans of smoke in their direction.

And now, judging by the sound of screams and retreating footsteps, along with the lack of gunshots, Jungkook knew that the first step of their plan had been successful. Now all that was left to do was trap them as they fled the prison and bumped into Maggie and Glenn. They didn't want to kill these people, they wanted them to flee and then they would head to Woodbury to finish off The governor. Despite the Woodburians coming to kill them, Rick realised that these people were victims to The Governor's mind games, and needed to be helped, instead of killed.

The can of smoke slipped out of Jungkook's fingers as he threw it into the air before catching it as it fell. He threw it between his open palms and pursued his lips- releasing a small tune that intertwined with the terror filled screams of the Woodburians. Feet smacked against the concrete ground and a small bump against his metal door, made him look up. Jungkook squinted his eyes at the metal door as the Woodburians rushed past the door to leave the tunnels in a hurry.

"Pussies." The small insult was dripping with amusement and Korean. Jungkook huffed with a shake of his head, his grip tightened around the can before he slid it into the pocket of his leather jacket.

Jungkook took a step towards the door and pressed himself against it. His eyes fluttered shut and ear laid gently against the cold metal. He could barely hear the low growls and shuffling of feet, but then he heard something else...something that he wasn't able to distinguish. His brows knitted together and lips pursued into a straight line, Jungkook held his breath and listened more carefully. And this time, a low groan pinched his eardrums, followed by the sound of a walker falling to the ground.

Jungkook's eyes flew open and grew large, he ripped himself away from the metal door and blinked back at it. Now that Jungkook finally swallowed down the noises, he could hear the silent curses and heavy thuds of boots right next to his door. But before Jungkook could flick out his gun and arm himself, the handle to the door twisted and the door cracked open.

Jungkook jumped forward with a small gasp. He fell against the door and slammed it shut, eliciting a loud howl of pain from the person behind it. Jungkook pressed his palms flat against the metal and looked around the boiler room, his eyes fell on a wooden desk on the other side of the room and the door next to it. Before Jungkook could do anything else, a heavy body to rammed into the metal door.

The force of the shove caused Jungkook's smaller body to fly back and fall to the ground. The sound of the metal door slamming against the wall before being rammed shut, slipped past his ears as he landed on his ass and scraped his palms against the small pebbles on the ground.

Jungkook's head swung up, revealing two coffee coloured eyes and parted lips. Panic and a hint of fear ceased his heart in a tight grip and made it drop down to his stomach. Before Jungkook could finish scrambling up to his feet, his eyes connected with the tip of a gun. A small breath of shock was knocked out of Jungkook's lips, he could hear his heart beat against his chest and his nerves slide up his throat.

Jungkook's eyes slowly glided up the gun until they connected with familiar grey ones. The large weight of shock, grief and raw anger slammed into Jungkook and rocked through his body. The look on his face blanked out as the images of Kolten's grinning face looming over him as he cried down at Marley's dead body, flashed over his eyes.

Jungkook had been dreaming about the moment of facing Kolten since he had watched him leave him to his two companions to get beaten to death. He had dreamt of wrapping his hands around his throat and choking him to death, he had been dreaming and pondering over hundreds of ways to kill him in the most painful way. Yet none of them seemed to satisfy the hunger for revenge inside of him. Jungkook believed that once he did actually face Kolten, he would know what to do automatically and all his planning would be thrown out of the window.

But, now.

Now as he was crouching down in front of the burly man with a gun raised and shoved against his forehead, Jungkook's mind flushed empty and he was left blinking up at the older man with no emotion. He watched as the corner of Kolten's lips twitched into a taunting smile before they parted to release a rumbling chuckle.

"Well, well, well look what we have here...little Jungcock, was it?" Kolten's head tilted to the side and his tongue clicked against the roof of his mouth. The look in his eyes ranged from underlying anger and to glowing condescension, while his voice dripped with the venom of amusement.

A flash of rage zipped across Jungkook's face before it left in a mere second, he pressed his bleeding palms against the ground and stood up. Jungkook's back was straight and narrowed eyes never left Kolten as the bearded man released another chuckle and took a step back, "Heard about what happened to the rest..." Kolten trailed off, dragging his eyes down the length of Jungkook's body and taking another step back, "Sad. Really." Despite Kolten's uttered words, they lacked any grief or sadness towards his deceased compassions. The smirk on his face only widened as he caught a glimpse of Jungkook's clenched hands and tense shoulders.

The edges of Jungkook's vision blurred together and eyes only focused on Kolten. He felt like a piece of his mind chipped away the second he made eye-contact with the older man, which made his thoughts spiral into a flurry of madness and bloodlust. The war and his group drifted further away from his mind, and with every second Jungkook spent staring back at Kolten, the more he wanted to kill him no matter what it takes or costs. The only thing keeping him away from pouncing towards Kolten, was the tip of the gun pinning him to the ground.

Jungkook's Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed a mouthful of saliva before dragging his tongue against his chapped lips, "Karma, I guess." Jungkook's voice was breezy and ice cold, it lacked any emotion and left Kolten to shiver as if he was standing butt-naked in a snow coated forest.

"Changed your name to Karma, Huh, kid?" Kolten huffed lowly, raising his gun higher and taking another step away from Jungkook. Their eyes never left each other and defensive stances never changed. Both of them felt the hostile atmosphere lounging in the room, and both knew what would happen if the gun was lowered.

After Kolten left the forest with Sean, he thought that Tia and Bryson would kill Jungkook in an hour and would join him back at their camp. But much to his surprise, they never returned, not even after 24 hours had passed. Kolten didn't care much about their lack of presence, but there was an undeniable hint of curiosity that prompted him to head back to look for them. And when he did, Kolten was pleasantly surprised to see that Tia and Bryson had been ruthlessly killed, and Jungkook's body was absent. Kolten had to give the younger some props, since he had been injured and in a vulnerable state of mind, yet still managed to take out two healthy people.

Kolten left the dead bodies of his companions in the forest and headed off with Bryson. The two of them never really got along, so when they joined Woodbury, both could put some distance between them. But after a while of living and roaming the streets of Woodbury, Kolten heard the news of Sean and a few others being viciously murdered during one of their missions.

Just as before, Kolten was curious yet this time he was even more suspicious of the coincidence of all of his group dying one by one. So instead of lounging behind the high walls of Woodbury, Kolten headed out and found Sean's decapitated body in the middle of the road. He quickly realised that this wasn't a coincidence and that Sean was murdered with pure rage and grief. In the back of his head, Kolten thought back to Jungkook, but after remembering the younger's terrified, teary bambi eyes, he brushed the thought off and headed back to Woodbury.

But maybe Kolten was too rash with pushing the possibility away. Because as he was gazing down at the younger boy, he could practically see the images of Jungkook's overwhelming desire to put his head on a spike. The fearless, dangerous gaze piercing right through Kolten's eyes, and the way Jungkook didn't seem to hesitate as he took a step forward, was what created a pinch of fear in the bottom of Kolten's stomach.

"You've changed."

A brow rose and pink lips tilted into an empty smile, a hum rumbled in the back of Jungkook throat as he broke eye-contact with Kolten in order to analyse him, "So have you." The words were heavy and taunting, they pushed against Kolten's shoulders and hit against the back of his knee, almost forcing him to beg for forgiveness and plead for mercy.

Jungkook carefully took in the sight of Kolten. The older male had grown even more chub- his stomach bulging out and pressing against his flannel shirt, and beard almost touched his chest. Jungkook could see a small braid tied in the middle of it, which prevented the food from catching onto the bushy strands. The tips of Kolten's fingers were coated with a dust of blackness, indicating that he had smoked a few cigarettes too much, and his breath still stunk as he huffed out a scratchy chuckle, which turned into a row of violent cough.

"You're less scary." Jungkook breathed out darkly, watching as the coughs rocked through Kolten's body and made him hunch over, "And more unimpressive." Jungkook hissed and jumped forward as the gun was lowered and Kolten's other hand pressed against his mouth.

Before Jungkook's outstretched hands could grab onto Kolten, he pulled his hand back and swung his gun towards Jungkook's face. The handle of the gun slammed into Jungkook's jaw, knocking his head to the side and making him stumble a few steps back. Jungkook's skin split apart and a droplet of blood rolled down his jaw. His hand flew up to his face, only for a chuckle to fill the air and capture his attention.

"Stupid child." Kolten spat harshly, lazily pointing his gun towards Jungkook. His lips parted to reveal his rotten teeth and the single missing tooth in the front, before his face closed off and voice lowered into a dangerous grumble, "Did you really think that would work?" Kolten released a mocking laugh, the loud noise boomed through the room until it pounded against Jungkook's eardrums. The younger watched with flared nostrils and thin lips as Kolten finished laughing and lazily swung the gun in his direction, "How low of you, attacking me when I'm vulnerable."

A wave of rage hit Jungkook at his comment. His mind flashed to Marley, who had been merely a vulnerable child with her back turned to Kolten, when he decided to shoot her, yet Kolten still had the audacity to say something about Jungkook's dirty move. The younger wanted to do nothing more than to grab him and smash his skull in against the concrete wall.

Thin lips parted and a step was taken in Kolten's direction, only for the metal door to creak open and Taehyung to saunter inside with a small smirk. Jungkook's face immediately dropped as he made eye-contact with Taehyung. The older's footsteps faltered to a halt and his eyes slowly traveled over to Kolten.

"Another Chinese person?"

The words slipped past Jungkook's ears and didn't even register in his mind. He was too busy staring back at Taehyung, who carefully neutralised his face and pushed the door shut behind him. His eyes flirted over to Jungkook and the two made eye-contact. The corner of Taehyung's lips quirked into a small smile, that vanished as soon as Taehyung released a cocky laugh and turned to face Kolten.

"That's what I'm saying every time I see white people. Oh, look, there's another!" Taehyung teased back, yet his voice lacked any lightheartedness or amusement, rather it was laced with venom and snark, "Makes me wonder..." Taehyung trailed off with a lazy smirk in Kolten's direction. At the sight of Kolten's smile faltering and a look of annoyance washing over the forced expression of calmness, Taehyung's smirk widened and feet moved two steps in Jungkook's direction, "Do they ever stop reproducing?"

A vein popped in Kolten's neck and his eyes narrowed, the grip on his gun tightened as he eyed the duo with a clenched jaw, "Do you? China had the most people." Kolten grumbled lowly, allowing his eyes to jump between Taehyung and Jungkook. He quickly noticed Taehyung creeping over to Jungkook, who tried to keep his breathing steady and eyes locked in a glare on Kolten.

"Stay there."

The simple command and the cocking of the gun, was what made Taehyung's feet glue to the ground and body rotate in Kolten's direction. The arrogant rise of the brow and the tug on his lips, only flared the anger inside of Kolten. And when Taehyung opened his mouth and uttered the next words, the last thread of patience and false calmness in Kolten, snapped,

"Honey, your teeth look like someone rammed their fist repeatedly against them, then grabbed a handful of dog shit and smeared it over the cracks. The apocalypse introduced you to zombies, ask it to introduce you to a thing called toothbrush."

Jungkook's jaw was hanging open and eyes had grown in size, his head buzzed numbly as he gazed back at Taehyung with a hint of worry. Jungkook's mind flooded with the images of Kolten offering him false mercy before shooting Marley when they least expected it. Jungkook's fear increased as Marley was replaced by Taehyung. He imagined Kolten raising his gun and shooting Taehyung, while the older was mocking him.

Jungkook was terrified at the thought that Taehyung could end up in a grave next to Marley, "Tae-" Jungkook began with a barely audible mumble, all while reaching out a hand to grab him and pull him behind himself for protection, but Kolten wasn't having none of that.

The burly man stomped his feet over to the two, which made Taehyung's face turn stoic and feet lead him in front of Jungkook. He blocked the younger with his body and didn't flinch as Kolten stepped in front of him, "If you're so tough, go to the door." Kolten leaned down and made sure his rotten breath wafted in Taehyung's face, but the older didn't seem fazed and merely rose a brow.

"Is the door gonna spank me or something, Huh?" Taehyung taunted lowly- his defence mechanism acting up as fear grasped his heart and squeezed tightly. His eyes flickered away from Kolten's and paused at the gun pointed at his stomach.

Jungkook was on a verge of panic as he stood behind Taehyung. He could see the metal gun glinting in the low lighting and pressing against Taehyung's stomach, "Tae, please don't." Jungkook breathed out under his breath, lifting his hand and brushing the tips of his fingers against Taehyung's back. Despite his voice being thick with emotion and concern for his lover, Jungkook's face stayed covered with a mask of emptiness.

Taehyung ignored Jungkook's silent plea, yet his jaw clenched as Kolten's eyes peered around his shoulder over to Jungkook before settling back on him. Taehyung didn't dare utter a single word as they stared each other for a few seconds of tension and eerie silence. But the tense athmosphere was sliced in half by Kolten pointing the gun behind him and firing a single bullet.

A loud gunshot bounced throughout the room and rung in the ears of the Korean male. Taehyung's face cracked and worry slipped through his false confidence as he whirled around to see if Jungkook was alright. Jungkook blinked back at him with wide eyes and thin lips. The bullet had hit the concrete wall behind them before bouncing away and falling down on the wooden desk. Taehyung's and Jungkook's hands instinctively reached out, and fingers barely brushed before they both dropped their hands and straightened out.

"A waste of a bullet." Taehyung sneered, raising his hands and readjusting his black jacket. He tried to redirect his source of anger from him fearing that Kolten had shot Jungkook, and to Kolten wasting bullets. Yet judging by the look on Kolten's face, he hadn't fallen for it and he had seen the exchange between the two.

Kolten shoved the gun in the direction of the metal door and lowered his voice into a smug snicker, "Go on, walk." Kolten hissed through an arrogant smile.

Harsh pants fell past Jungkook's nostrils and his lips curled into a sneer. He dropped his hand to his sides and winced at the stinging sensation in his face. Taehyung didn't move or say anything, only continued to glare defiantly back at Kolten, all while portraying the desire to kill him through his eyes.

"Are you deaf?" Kolten inhaled a steady breath to suppress the urge to kill Taehyung with a single shot, instead, his finger cocked the gun, filling the air with a small click, "Walk to th-"

Palms smacked against the metal door, followed by the weight of multiple bodies hitting the door. Jungkook's eyes lifted towards the rattling door and his face paled as he made eye-contact with a smirking Kolten.

"Oh, here they are."

The simple words made Jungkook's throat clog up and feet freeze to the ground. His breathing deepened and palms became sweaty as he glanced towards the door. The banging continued and the snarls grew louder, Jungkook could see the shadows of the walkers pooling into the room from underneath the door.

Jungkook barely managed to lift his eyes to look at Taehyung, only to see something he never expected from someone placed in a situation like this. Taehyung looked eerily calm, his lips were lifted into a breezy smile and eyes shone with amusement. His head slowly tilted to the side and shoulders relaxed as he huffed out a laugh right into Kolten's face.

"And why would I do that?"

If it wasn't for the harsh banging against the metal door, Jungkook would've been listening to the tense silence washing over the room. His heart pounded in his ears and tongue felt heavy in his mouth, his eyes kept flickering between the two glaring males and hand itched to grab onto Taehyung's.

Fear crawled up Jungkook's body with each slam of the fist against the metal and with each passing second. He didn't want Taehyung to take a step towards the rattling door, nor did he want him to be the one standing in the way of the loaded gun. But Taehyung didn't seem to care about it, so when the gun was raised and pointed at Jungkook's head and Kolten's lips twitched into a nasty grin. Kolten didn't have to utter a word- the raised gun and the quirked brow indicating what would happen if Taehyung opposed his orders. So instead of making it difficult, Taehyung took a step forward and lowered his voice into a deadly whisper,

"There's crumbs in your beard."

And with that, Taehyung brushed past Kolten with a rough bump against his shoulder and walked over to the door. With each step closer, the pounding and growls increased, and the door rattled even more. Taehyung stopped in front of it, and stared back at the door with a blank face- trying to suppress the fear dancing through him and wrapping around the pumps of adrenaline rushing through his veins. Taehyung couldn't deny that he was scared of going out there in the awaiting arms of a group of bloodthirsty walkers. He didn't want to die, he wasn't ready to die, but it wasn't like he had a choice.

"Wait!" Jungkook cried out after registering what was happening. He realised that the second Taehyung stepped out of that door, the walkers would latch onto him and rip him out of the room. They'd pounce on him and overpower him in mere seconds, and Taehyung wouldn't even be able to pull out his gun and kill one of them. They'd just rip into his skin and bite chunks out of any body-part they could access. Even if Taehyung wasn't ripped to shreds, they would still bite or scratch him, which would lead to Taehyung slowly dying in the prison.

"Don't." Jungkook breathed, turning his head around to look at Kolten. The smirk on Kolten's face almost made Jungkook sneer and spit on him, but another growl and a thud against the door made Jungkook falter. His pride and hatred refused to allow him to beg or plead to let Taehyung go, but all he had to do was look at a frowning Taehyung and he swallowed down his pride.

"I'm gonna go in his place....pl..please let him go." Jungkook whispered quietly after gulping down a mouthful of saliva. His eyes dropped down to the ground and he began to shuffle over to the door, only for a loud protest and a scratchy laugh to fill the air between them.

While Taehyung had jumped forward and quickly intertwined, Kolten watched the two with the utmost joy and excitement. His expression only brightened as he eyed the two Korean males and laughed in their faces. Jungkook's hands clenched by his sides and breathing deepened, the urge to jump forward and attack the hideous beast only increased with every passing second.

Taehyung clenched his jaw and ignored Kolten, instead he looked at Jungkook and sent a harsh glare in his direction, "You're staying here." Taehyung hissed lowly, leaving no room for debate.

Jungkook's head swung around and eyes narrowed, "It's not your choice to make." He spat back, steering his body around to fully face Taehyung and the metal door.

The duo kept staring at each other with harsh glares and clenched jaws. Neither of them backed down or uttered a word as they listened to Kolten's laugh turn into another coughing fit. Their gazes turned more deadly and bodies straightened out as they tried to portray, that the other needs to stand down, through their eyes.

"Boys, boys." Kolten wheezed through a small smirk, he spread his arms open and lazily pointing his gun between them, "It's not either of your choice to make. It's mine." Kolten breathed out smugly, enjoying the way Taehyung and Jungkook shared a look before turning to sneer at him, "This one." Kolten pointed his fat finger in Taehyung's direction, all while staring into Jungkook's narrowed eyes, "Will go through that door and say hello to our friends waiting to greet us."

Jungkook's face dropped and mind became blank. His eyes slowly drifted over to Taehyung who was already watching him with no emotion. The two merely stared back at each other, but their gazes conveyed so much more than words could ever express. Jungkook wanted to cry and scream, and stop time in order to think about what to do. But everything was happening so quickly, and Jungkook was too overwhelmed and terrified to think clearly.

But what Jungkook did know, was that he was terrified of losing Taehyung. He didn't want to see his dead body, he didn't want to see his black eyes lose their spark and mischief, he didn't want his lips seal shut forever and trap all his weird comments inside. Jungkook felt like their time was cut too short and he didn't even get to know Taehyung before he was ripped away from him.

"Plea..please don't."

Kolten ignored Jungkook's pitiful whisper and turned to peer at Taehyung. The edge of Taehyung's lips slowly twisted into a taunting smile, which only made the fire in Kolten's stomach burn brighter. He watched with a low growl as Taehyung glanced at a teary eyed Jungkook and reached out a shaky hand towards the door.

"Wait." Kolten's voice pulled a breath of relief out of Jungkook's lungs and made Taehyung's hand drop to his side, but what he uttered next made chaos erupt in the small room, "Take off your weapons."

"No!" Jungkook shouted in raw fury and jumped towards Kolten. The older quickly spun around and swung his fist towards Jungkook. The meaty fist slammed into the side of Jungkook's face and knocked him down to the ground. The younger boy hit the ground with a loud thud and a gasp, only for a heavy boot to press against his chest and push him down.

A stinging sensation pulsed through the side of Jungkook's face and his vision blurred. He shook his aching head and blinked away the blurriness, only then noticing the leg pressing against his chest and pushing him flat against the ground. Jungkook winced with a small hiss and tried to push his leg away, but the weight on his chest only increased, making it hard for him to breathe.

"Fuck." Jungkook swallowed down a gulp of air and turned his head in Taehyung's direction.

The look on the older's face was absolutely livid and the glint in his eyes was murderous. Jungkook had never seen this side of Taehyung, and it made his insides churn with fear and anticipation. Taehyung's lips were sealed shut and eyes never left the ones of Kolten as he clenched his jaw and slowly pulled off his thigh harness, and gun. He dropped the weapons to the ground and curled his hands into fists.

"What now?" Taehyung snarked- his voice deep and husky. It shone with hidden anger and such coldness that even Jungkook frowned and flinched away, "You gonna ask me to kiss your boots or something?" Taehyung threw his head back and released a mocking laugh. The deep, baritone sound bounced off of the walls of the silent room and made the pounding against the door increase.

Jungkook's breaths left his lips in harsh pants, he turned to look up at Kolten as the latter clenched his jaw and gestured towards the door behind Taehyung with his free hand, "Now you go."

"Stop, no!" Jungkook screamed, while trashing around and trying to push Kolten away, "Taehyung, stop, you're gonna die!" Jungkook shouted at Taehyung's back as the older grabbed the door handle and gripped it tightly. His back momentarily tensed up as Jungkook's words dawned on him, but he still exhaled a shaky breath and pulled the door open.

The loud growls cleared up and the pounding monetarily paused. Jungkook watched with terror filled eyes and motionless limbs as the door pushed open and multiple bloody hands slipped through the crack. Bloody, bony fingers grabbed Taehyung by his clothes and ripped him out of the room and into the group of walkers.

A loud scream left Jungkook's lips as he watched Taehyung's raven locks disappear from sight, along with the growls of the walkers and their banging. The door slammed shut behind Taehyung, leaving Jungkook to stare at the metal door with a wobbling lip and tears in his eyes.

The realisation that Taehyung had just been pulled into a group of walkers, dawned on him. Jungkook could only imagine the sight of Taehyung currently being ripped apart and eaten alive by the monsters on the other side of the door.

Jungkook's chest felt heavy, he couldn't breathe or see anything. The overwhelming feeling of pain and grief pushed him to the ground and made it impossible for him to suck in a breath. Jungkook could only stare down at the grey concrete ground with no emotion as he listened to the sound of distant snarls and growls. He squeezed his eyes shut and pressed his hand against his sweaty forehead, trying to push away the images of Taehyung's crying out in pain and fighting for his life behind that door.

"Pathetic really. I haven't seen you for a few weeks and you still haven't changed, huh? You let that little girl die, now you let your Chinese friend die. You never change, do you, Jungcock?" The mocking voice of Kolten brought Jungkook out of his dazed state.

The grief and pain was washed away in a single second as soon as Kolten spoke, instead being replaced by pure, raw rage. Jungkook panted and sneered down at the ground, his limbs pulsed and head pounded, and as Kolten snickered and bent down next to him, Jungkook completely lost it.

With a loud growl, Jungkook pushed off of the ground and jumped on top of Kolten. The two toppled over and slammed into the ground. Before Kolten could say or do anything, Jungkook pulled his hand back and delivered a harsh punch to his cheekbone. Kolten's head swung to the side and a groan left his lips, another punch was delivered to the side of his face, making his features scrunch up in pain.

The skin on Jungkook's knuckles split, allowing blood to coat his fist in a layer of blood. His vision was red and eyes could only focus on the blood covering the side of Kolten's face. He pulled back his hand yet again to deliver another punch, only for Kolten to push him off with his entire weight. Jungkook fell to the ground with a small huff. His vision cleared a bit, but he was still seeing red as he pushed off of the ground and stalked towards Kolten.

The buffer Male scrambled back, his lips parted to reveal his bloody teeth as he released a chuckle. Jungkook's footsteps slowed down as Kolten pressed his hand against his face and coughed into his sleeve. His head turned up to reveal that one side of his face was completely covered in blood and that his eye was swollen. A deep feeling of satisfaction bloomed inside of Jungkook's chest, making his shoulders slouch a bit and body relax. He watched with narrowed eyes as Kolten coughed and pushed himself on the other side of the room- trying to get away from Jungkook.

"You...you think that killing me is gonna make you feel better?" Kolten pulled his hand away from his face and sent a sleazy grin towards Jungkook, "It won't." Kolten forced out another chuckle, but his smile dropped and he allowed the back of his head to touch the concrete wall. Jungkook stopped in front of him and peered down at him from over the tip of his nose.

"Killing me won't help you because...even if you kill me in the most brutal way, it won't bring back that little girl and it sure as hell..." Kolten lifted a meaty arm and pointed a single finger at the metal door behind them, "..won't bring back him."

Another wave of grief and anger surged through Jungkook. The look on his face darkened and his breathing deepened, "It will make me feel better." He hissed lowly, reaching his hand behind his back and pulling out a sharp dagger.

Kolten's expression dropped and throat bobbed as he swallowed, his eyes flickered down to the sharp knife and he pushed himself further into the wall, "Of course, it will. You may not realise it, but you're just like me, kid." Kolten mused through a dark smile, he seemed to almost lean forward and try to speak more smoothly as he lowered his voice and uttered, "I see the look in your eyes, you're just like me. And by killing that little girl and that guy, I helped you transform into the person you're supposed to be. They made you weak, they held you back, I did what anyone would do when they see potential."

"Shut the fuck up." Jungkook growled harshly, his voice cut through the room and made Kolten flinch back. He straightened out and towered over the quivering figure of Kolten, "We are nothing alike! I would never kill a child! But you would, and you are monster. That's why you deserve to die, and I'll be glad to do what so many others already should've." Jungkook finished speaking with a calm smile on his face and a steady voice. His grip on his dagger tightened as he stalked a few steps forward and reached down towards Kolten.

Before Jungkook could register what's happening, Kolten pulled his hand out from behind his back and revealed a screwdriver. Kolten jumped forward and swung the screwdriver towards Jungkook to try and stab it in his thigh. The younger jumped back, but not before swishing the knife through the air and slicing it across Kolten's chest.

A loud shout of pain followed after the attack, before Kolten pushed off of the ground. Jungkook pounced towards him and swung his knife at him, only for Kolten to grab him by his wrist and flung him into a wall. Jungkook slammed into the concrete wall with a low grunt, while the dagger fell to the ground with a rattle. Jungkook turned around and watched as Kolten rushed towards the other door in the room and scrambled through it.

Jungkook quickly bent down and grabbed his fallen knife, and just as he was about to run after Kolten and get the revenge he had been dreaming about for months, a low snarl filled his ears. Jungkook froze in his steps. His eyes were still locked on the open door leading into a dark hallway, yet his ears were strained and filled with the growls of walkers behind him.

The steady rhythm of his heart beat in Jungkook's ears, while decision after decision flashed through his mind. Jungkook's feet stayed glued on the ground and eyes slowly flickered down to the knife grasped between his fingers. With a sharp inhale and a shake of the head, Jungkook made a decision that he hoped was for the best.

Boots squeaked and the soles smacked against the ground, harsh pants fell from Jungkook's lips and the grip on his knife tightened. Jungkook reached out his hand and pulled the metal door open, revealing a dark, empty hallway. His eyes immediately dropped down to the dead corpses of the walkers littering the ground in front of him. He could see that some of them had been killed recently- the blood still warm as it dripped down from the wounds in their heads.

Jungkook carefully placed each step in between the dead bodies and entered the hallway. He eyed both ways until he finally noticed something at the end of the hallway. As Jungkook squinted his eyes, he realised that it was Taehyung and two other walkers. The two walkers were laying on top of each other and pressing against Taehyung- pushing the older against a wall, while trying to take a bite out of him.

Jungkook quickly jumped forward and dashed towards Taehyung with his dagger grasped tightly in his hand. As soon as he reached the older, he grabbed the scruff of the first walker and ripped him off before plunging his knife into its skull. The second walker twisted around to face Jungkook at the sound of a thud, only for Taehyung to grab it and smash its skull against the corner of the wall. The body of the walker dropped to the ground, revealing a large splatter of blood on the concrete wall.

"Fuck." Taehyung panted, hunching over and pressing his shaking hands against his knees. His hands and body was covered in blood, some droplets had landed on his face and soaked into his hair. Taehyung's eyes were wide and face shone with exhaustion, but before he could utter anything else, Jungkook grabbed him and began to analyse him.

"Have you been bit? Were you scratched? Did any blood get in your wounds?" Jungkook rambled with wide eyes and furrowed brows. His hands traveled across Taehyung's body to try and see if there were any bites and scratches, and only when his hands traveled underneath Taehyung's shirt and touched his bare stomach, did Taehyung finally stop him by grabbing his wrists.

"I'm fine, bun. I didn't get bit or scratched or whatever. I tried to stay alive just for you." Taehyung huffed out a small chuckle as he pulled Jungkook's hands from underneath his shirt. He tilted his head to the side and observed Jungkook's facial expression with a growing smirk, "We're you worried about me?"

"Yes."

The lack of hesitation from Jungkook made Taehyung's cocky smirk drop into a more genuine expression. He watched the younger with a soft smile before shaking his head and grabbing his hand, "Come on, we have to kill that asshole."

"Wait, Tae, I think...he's already gone. He ran and I..." Jungkook stuttered nervously, pulling Taehyung back to stop him from taking a step in that direction.

A brow rose from underneath Taehyung's sweaty fringe and the grip on Jungkook's wrist tightened. Taehyung tugged Jungkook forward, but not before sending a smirk his way, "Shut the fuck up, we're going to kill that asshole."
