Murderer

|Jungkook|

Jungkook pressed a hand against his lips as a yawn tore out of his mouth. His hand traveled from his mouth up to his eyes before he rubbed the sleep out of them. Releasing a loud groan, Jungkook bent down and grabbed two backpacks, flinging them into the cart next to him.

Jungkook woke up before the sun did, choosing the cover of the darkness for gathering his and Marley's stuff and heading out of the store. He didn't want to risk their safety to sleep in, since you can never know when someone's watching you.

While Jungkook ordered for Marley to find another exit out of the store, he got a cart and filled it up with the backpacks that were stuffed full of supplies. Jungkook even found a coin to insert into the cart and get it detached from the rest of the carts.

Just as Jungkook placed the remaining backpacks into the cart, the sound of footsteps behind him, tore him out of his sleepy daze. Jungkook released another yawn before stretching and cracking his bones,"I got everything, did you find the second exit?"

The sound of a gun being cocked, caused Jungkook to tense and snap his eyes wide open,"Marley?" He gritted, his heart pumping in his chest as he slowly got squished under the tense silence.

"Don't...don't move."

Jungkook sucked in a sharp breath when he heard the voice of an unfamiliar female. Her voice was deep with a slight rasp to it, indicating that the female was trying to intimidate him, despite the shakiness attached to her words.

Jungkook bit the inside of his cheek, slowly raising his hands up in surrender as he continued to stand with his back turned to the girl,"Listen, you don't have to do this. Just lower the gun and we can talk." Jungkook spoke softly, trying to make himself appear more harmless.

"Shut up! Just shut up and slowly step away from the cart." The female hissed, Jungkook squeezing his eyes shut after hearing the hint of fear mixing in with the hostility.

There was something familiar about the female, something that didn't allow him to raise his gun and shoot her. Maybe it was the fear in her voice or maybe it was the situation they were in. Jungkook could only hope that his decision to not attack the girl wouldn't lead to him bleeding out on the floor.

"Okay," Jungkook nodded, his voice soft and quiet,"I'm gonna turn around, okay? Don't shoot."

"No, stop! Just step away from the cart!" The girl cried out, jumping a few steps away from Jungkook as he slowly turned around.

Jungkook's eyes landed on a female a few centimetres shorter than him. Her flaming red hair was braided into two french braids. A sprinkle of freckles covered her cheeks and purple bags rested under her eyes, making her brown eyes stand out. She wore baggy military jeans, and a large jacket that made her appear even smaller.

"It's okay, I don't have any weapons." Jungkook forced his lips to twitch up as he presented his empty hands to her.

Jungkook eyed her, noticing the way her hands shook as she gripped the gun until her fingers turned white. His gaze softened and he released a deep sigh, knowing that the girl was terrified of him. But he didn't know if a terrified person was better than a hostile one. At least someone hostile would attack him and Jungkook didn't have to be careful with every move he made just so he wouldn't get shot.

"Just...just step aside." She muttered, barely sparing a glance at Jungkook's hands before gesturing for him to move out of the way.

"Okay, okay. I'm Jungkook." He introduced himself as he slowly moved away from the cart without breaking eye contact with the girl,"And you are...?"

The redhead bit her lip, taking wary steps towards the cart,"Thea." She murmured quietly, her terrified gaze not straying from Jungkook.

"Hello, Thea. Do you need help?" Jungkook swallowed thickly, hesitant to ask the question. He didn't trust her, but maybe the question would buy him enough time to figure out what to do.

Thea shook her head, her braids swaying along. She released one of her hands from the gun and grabbed a backpack that was inside the cart. Jungkook pressed his lips together in a firm line as she zipped the bag open and began to rummage through it.

"Oh my god." She breathed out, the gun in her hand lowering as she saw all the supplies in the bags,"I'm...I don't want to hurt you." Thea breathed out, looking up at Jungkook as her free hand went back to grip the handle of the gun.

Jungkook released a deep breath through his nose and smiled,"You don't have to hurt anyone, this store is full of supplies and you can have them, okay?" Jungkook spoke gently, his lips parting to show off his bunny teeth. Thea's eyes travelled down to his mouth and her brows pinched together in distress,"But you have to lower your gun, Thea."

Thea scowled, her expression growing cold before she frantically shook her head. After a few minutes of tense silence, Thea slowly looked away to glance around the store and take in the stocked shelves. Seeing that she wasn't looking at him, Jungkook carefully took a step closer to her, only for her head to snap towards him and have the gun get shoved into his face.

"Don't move! I don't want to hurt you, but it doesn't mean that I won't!" Thea screamed, small tears gathering in the corners of her eyes as she gripped the gun tightly and aimed it at Jungkook's forehead.

"Lower the gun, Thea." Jungkook's smile slipped from his face as his eyes got locked onto the deadly weapon. He tried not to panic, but the girl was so scared that she was dangerous to everyone around her. One wrong move from Jungkook and she would pull the trigger and kill him.

Thea shook her head, her lips parting as her breathing picked up,"You said there's supplies here, you can just....you can just take some more."

Jungkook clenched his jaw, not saying anything as he watched her grip the cart and begin to roll it away from him. Thea was still pointing the gun at him, struggling, as she tried to push the heavy cart with just one hand.

"Need help?" Jungkook grumbled, a hint of sarcasm dripping from his words. He slowly lowered his hands and crossed them over his chest, all while glaring at Thea as she continued to pull the cart away from him.

Thea suddenly paused and looked up at Jungkook, still pointing the gun at him. Jungkook could see her eyes gloss over with unshed tears and her lower lip begin to wobble. She shook her head, her eyes glistening with remorse and guilt,"I'm...I'm sor-"

The sound of a gunshot echoed throughout the store as a bullet pierced through the air and lodged into Thea's skull. Jungkook's eyes widened as he watched her face go slack before her lifeless body tumbled to the ground. Blood poured out of the hole in her forehead, soaking her orange hair and painting her pale skin blood red.

"Jungkook!"

Jungkook felt like he was pushed under water as he heard his name being called. His eyes were still staring into Thea's lifeless gaze as she laid limply on the ground. No fear. No anger. Nothing. Jungkook sucked in a deep breath, his lungs filling with air as two small hands wrapped around his waist, pulling him into a tight embrace.

"Are you okay?"

"Jungkook?"

"Kookie?"

Jungkook sucked in another sharp, tearing his eyes away from Thea's corpse to look down at Marley, who was clinging onto him for dear life. Her arms were tightly wrapped around his small waist and her face was pushed into his stomach. Jungkook could feel her trembling and breathing heavily as she tightened her hold on his waist.

"I'm...I'm okay." Jungkook breathed out, trying to blink away the shock as he raised a shaky hand and wrapped it around Marley,"I'm okay." He muttered, sparing another glance towards Thea's lifeless body before turning away and wrapping his arms tightly around Marley, who had began to cry.

The sun peaked through the grey clouds, momentarily showing itself until it hid behind another cloud. The sun's playful mood passed onto the people of Woodbury, causing them to walk around the streets of the town and act like the world never ended.

Taehyung sought refuge from the sun under the branches of a large willow tree. He leaned against the tree trunk- the sharp edges of the tree digging into his shoulder as he watched the governor give his people a speech about celebrating something.

Taehyung didn't care enough to find out what they were celebrating, instead, he watched the smile on the governor's face as he spoke. The grin was kind and inviting, yet Tae noticed a glint of egotism and condescension in his eyes as the people cheered and praised him for being such a good leader.

Taehyung could only scoff and roll his eyes, glaring at the governor as he finally finished talking. Tae shook his head, his dark locks moving with the shake of the head. He huffed, turning his gaze away from the man to look to his right,"What do you think?"

Michonne, who had showed up a minute or two ago, shrugged. Her face was expressionless as she eyed the governor from a safe distance, trying to see through his false facade. Taehyung nodded, sparing another glance in the governor's direction before pushing off of the tree and facing Michonne.

"You plan to stay?" He asked, crossing his arms over his chest. Taehyung didn't want Michonne to stay because he knew she wouldn't be safe here, but if she did choose to stay, he would respect her wishes and leave without her.

Michonne looked at him, giving him a look of disbelief before snorting,"I don't trust them. Their cars had bullet holes in them and I found a cage full of walkers." She murmured quietly, eyeing the people around them as they laughed among each other and drank lemonade.

Taehyung hummed, lowering his voice before speaking,"When I went out with them, they told me to go off and hunt alone, while they checked something out. An hour didn't even pass before I heard gunshots and found out that they had killed a group of people."

Michonne's attention snapped towards him in alarm. The two shared a silent look before Taehyung's eyes travelled towards the governor, who was standing next to Merle and Kate. Tae saw that his mouth was moving, indicating that he was saying something, yet his eyes were glued to Michonne and Tae. The governor sent him a smile before raising his hand and offering him a friendly wave, causing Taehyung to grin and wave back.

"Asshole told me that they had fired first, but none of his men were injured and none of his cars had bullet holes." Taehyung whispered, the friendly smile still on his face as he slowly looked away from the governor and lowered his hand back to his side.

Michonne nodded, eyeing Kate, Merle and the governor before turning to fully face Taehyung,"He acts like this place is the safest thing on earth, yet most of these people don't even know what a walker looks like." Michonne hissed, shaking her head at a group of women, who were wearing dresses and collecting apples from apple trees,"Makes me wonder if he's a narcissist, who thinks this really is the safest place on Earth, or if he's aware that it's not and is willing to do anything to protect it."

Taehyung hummed, running his tongue over his teeth,"What if it's neither?" Michonne looked at him with a raised brow, making Taehyung grin and wink at her,"Or maybe both."

Michonne released a deep breath through her nose, eyeing the seemingly perfect town yet again,"I'm not staying."

"You think I am?" Taehyung snorted, offering a wide grin to two women as they walked past him, smiling and giggling to themselves, all while looking at Taehyung,"This place is just a fantasy, a momentary distraction from reality."

Michonne hummed in agreement before smacking him upside the head and grabbing him by the arm to pull him away from a Male, that he had just winked at. Taehyung released a fake whine while pouting and rubbing the back of his head.

"Stop it, we have to go." Michonne murmured, looking around to see if anyone's there to eavesdrop on their conversation.

"You really think it would be that easy?" Taehyung huffed out a chuckle, running a hand through his raven hair,"You really think they would let us go like that?"

Michonne bit the side of her cheek and shook her head,"No, but I'm not staying here." He grunted, her nose scrunching in distaste as she saw some females ogling Taehyung.

"Nice." Taehyung's pink lips twitched up into a devilish smirk. Strands of raven black hair fell into his face, causing his obsidian black eyes to stand out,"So are we gonna climb the walls? Assassinate the guards? Grab their guns and just massacre the entire town? Oh! Maybe place a bomb as a distraction and then march right through the ga-"

"We're not doing any of that." Michonne cut him off, pressing her lips into a thin line and sending him a disapproving look,"We'll try to walk out of here peacefully and if that doesn't work out, we'll climb the walls."

"So no killing?" Taehyung asked with a small pout, looking at Michonne with puppy eyes.

"No."

Occasional huffs and grunts escaped Jungkook's lips as he continued to push the cart through an abandoned road. If a car passed by them, Jungkook and Marley would be fucked since there was no way they would get to the forest quick enough.

Speaking of Marley, Jungkook was growing concerned. After shooting Thea, he barely convinced her to release him so that he could get the cart and they could leave the store. Marley's face remained stoic and her eyes were dazed as Jungkook softly lifted her into the cart. He tried to talk to her, but the girl seemed to be in a state of shock- not hearing him or moving at all.

Currently Marley was sitting in the cart surrounded by the backpacks. Her knees were pushed against her chest and her arms were wrapped around them. Marley's gaze remained focused on the backpack in front of her and Jungkook noticed an occasional tear slip out of her eye and roll down her cheek.

With a deep sigh, Jungkook stopped pushing the cart. He leaned against the handle, placing his elbows on top of it and pressing his face into the palms of his hands. Jungkook squeezed his eyes shut, rubbing his temples as he tried to think about what to do.

Daryl would probably wordlessly take her off to hunt- teach her how to track, in order to take her mind off of things, and praise her if she caught something in a trap.

Maggie would probably tease her a little bit to lighten the mood before sitting her down and talking to her. She would listen to every word that Marley said before expressing her opinion about the topic.

Rick would probably leave her alone until she was ready to talk and came to him herself. And when she did come to talk, Rick would listen before telling her what he would do if he was in her place.

But Jungkook....Jungkook had no idea how to comfort someone. He never had a younger sibling and none of his friends, or group members, came to him to cry on his shoulder. Jungkook didn't know if he should pry until she spoke, if he should leave her alone and wait until she came to him, or if he should just hug her and say nothing.

Another groan of frustration left Jungkook's lips before he straightened out and walked towards the side of the cart. Jungkook chewed on his raw lip, placing his hands on the edge of the cart and bending down to look at Marley.

"Marley? Is everything okay? Can you talk to me?" Jungkook spoke softly, his brows raising in concern. He stared at the dry tears resting on her chubby cheeks as he waiting for a reply that he never received.

Jungkook sighed, shutting his eyes for a second before pealing them open and grinning at her,"Have you ever seen someone, who looks like a bunny? I look like a bunny!"

Marley continued to stare down at the backpacks with no expression, her red rimmed eyes still glistening with unshed tears. Jungkook sighed, his smile crumbling as he stood up. He eyed his surroundings, trying to think of something, but there was nothing expect an empty road, that was surrounded by a forest and a hill up ahead.

Jungkook placed his hands on his hips before pacing around the abandoned road and murmuring to himself, "Come on, Jungkook! Daryl takes you to hunt, Maggie talks to you, Rick leaves you alone to think and Eomm-" Jungkook froze and looked up from his dirt covered boots. He snapped his gaze towards Marley before grinning widely,"Eomma helps you forget about it by bringing you to amusement parks!"

Jungkook chewed on his lip, trying to suppress a grin from appearing on his face as he eyed the cart before looking at the hill ahead of them. Jungkook quickly ran over to the cart and began to push it towards the hill.

"You said I needed to get that stick out of my ass? I'm sure that this will rip it right out." Jungkook huffed to himself, struggling to push the heavy cart up the steep hill.

Jungkook's legs ached and his body created a thin layer of sweat over his skin as he pushed the cart. Small huffs and groans left his chapped lips, and his wounds stung at the strain placed on them.

Jungkook's mind was filled with pleas for him to stop and get some rest before continuing on, but Jungkook ignored them all and continued to push forward. His hands trembled as he gripped the handle of the cart, struggling to push it to the top. A deep groan ripped through Jungkook's throat before he pushed his legs to move faster until he finally reached the top of the hill.

Jungkook sucked in a sharp breath of relief, his body slouching against the cart and his grip on it loosening. He ignored the shakiness in his legs and the ache in his stomach, instead, walking over to the side of the cart.

Jungkook sighed as he stared down at a motionless Marley. Her eyes were red and filled with tears, causing the grey colour to stand out. Her raven hair was a tangled mess, and her chubby cheeks were covered with dry tear streaks. Jungkook's heart ached as he heard an occasional sniffle leave her.

Releasing a soft sigh, Jungkook climbed into the cart behind her and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer to him. Jungkook tried to push the cart forward by moving and jumping in his spot.

The cart slowly rolled towards the edge of the hill, the closeness to it showing off how steep the hill really was. Jungkook slowly began to regret his choice, wondering if the cart would even endure the speed or if it would shatter to tiny peaces.

"Kookie?"

Jungkook's head jerked down to look at Marley, who was staring down at the hill with wide eyes. A wide grin spread across Jungkook's face before he squished Marley into a tight embrace,

"Yes! I was so worried! I thought you wouldn't speak to me ever again so you left me n-"

Jungkook's rambling was cut off by the cart rolling over the edge of the hill. Two loud screeches echoed throughout the empty road as the cart began to roll down the hill at incredible speed.

The air pushed Jungkook's hair out of his face and caused his eyes to tear up. His breathing began to pick up and his heart slammed against his rib cage as he felt a weird feeling settle in his lower stomach.

Jungkook's hands turned white from how hard he was gripping the edges of the cart. He could feel the cart shaking under his hands as it rolled down the asphalt. Marley, who was clinging onto him, squeezed her eyes shut and began to curse under her breath.

One of the wheels of the cart hit a small hole, causing the cart to swerve and roll off the road. Marley and Jungkook released another screech as the cart hit the dirt and toppled over, causing them to fall out and land on the grass. Their bags fell around them and the cart laid on its side- the wheels still rolling.

Jungkook laid on his back, breathing heavily as he gazed up at the cloudy sky. "What the fuck." He murmured under his breath, pressing his hand against his eyes as he wondered why in the world would he do that.

"Were you....were you trying to kill us?"

Right, that's why he did that.

Jungkook grinned widely, a loud laugh bubbling up in his throat as he sat up and looked at Marley. The girl frowned as she laid on the ground, glaring at him with a cute pout.

"Welcome back!" Jungkook exclaimed, his lips parted to reveal his bunny teeth.

Marley's nose scrunched up before she snorted and smiled at the sight of his bunny smile. Jungkook's smile slipped from his face when Marley's eyes became unfocused and filled up with tears.

"Marley?" Jungkook whispered softly, crawling across the grass to sit in front of her. He gently cradled her small face between his hands and wiped away her tears,"Come on, talk to me and tell me what's wrong." Jungkook pleaded, his voice cracking as he saw the pain and guilt in her eyes.

Marley's lower lip began to wobble and a choked sob escaped her throat,"I kill...killed her."

Jungkook immediately pulled her into his chest, wrapping his arms around her and swaying them from side to side. Marley's tears soaked into his shirt and her choked sobs were muffled by his jacket as she fisted his shirt between her small hands.

"Shhh, it's okay." Jungkook whispered in her ear, his own eyes tearing up as he listening to her cries. He continued to sway her from side to side- one of his hands cradling the back of her head while the other was placed in between her shoulder blades,"You're okay."

"No." Marley whimpered in between small hiccups,"I'm a murd...murderer. I kill...killed her."

Jungkook's face hardened as he heard her words, he immediately pulled her back so that he would be able to cradle her face between his hands. Marley tried to push herself closer to him, but Jungkook shook his head and leaned down so that they would be face to face.

"Marley." Jungkook spoke firmly, his lips pressed into a thin line and his brows knitted together in distress,"Marley, look at me." Jungkook ordered, waiting a few seconds for her to calm down and look into his eyes.

Once Jungkook's brown eyes met her grey ones, he licked his lips and spoke up,"You are not a murdered, nor are you a bad perso-"

"I ki-"

"No, let me speak," Jungkook stopped her from interrupting him, his eyes squinting into a dangerous glare. Marley's eyes widened and she nodded, listening to him carefully,"Murderers kill people without any remorse and guilt, they don't care about the consequences of their actions and who gets hurt because of them. The fact that you're in so much pain over this shows that you are not a murderer."

"The girl in the store was unstable and she was pointing a gun at me. Neither of us knew if she would shoot, and what if she did?" Jungkook asked, raising a brow at her as his thumbs kept wiping away her tears.

Marley shook her head, another tear slipping out of her eye,"What if..what if she didn't?" She whispered, her lower lip wobbling.

"And what if she did? She was scared, Marley, and people who are scared think that everyone's out to get them. She wouldn't have left me alive because she would've thought that I would come after her. She didn't want to live in constant paranoia of me popping out of nowhere and killing her." Strands of brown hair fell into his face as Jungkook spoke, his head moving around and his expression constantly changing as he got riled up.

"That's why she turned back, that's why she pointed the gun at me and that's why she said she was sorry. That girl was never planning on keeping me alive, she needed the supplies but she didn't need another source of fear."

Marley released a shaky breath, her sobs turning into small hiccups and occasional sniffles. She pushed Jungkook's hands away from her face before wrapping her arms around his neck and hugging him tightly.

"What if you're wrong?" Marley whispered into his neck, leaning into Jungkook as he continued to rub his hand up and down her back.

"It doesn't matter if I'm wrong or not. What's done is done and you can't change what happened, no matter how much you cry and wish you could." Jungkook murmured softly, placing a delicate kiss against her raven hair,"But we can learn from this and react differently in the future, okay? And maybe next time I'll save you instead of you saving me."

If I write by my plan, Taekook will meet in three chapters, starting from this one. And since I have a small school break, I'll try to update everyday until Monday.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on Marley's and Jungkook's relationship?
