This is an entry for W13: Facing Fears, a contest hosted by @CommunityInteractive. This is a mini speech by a Year 1 kid prompted by his/her teacher about their greatest fear. Palm cards are separated by fancy hyphens (you know, the squiggly ones).

Palm Card 1

Good morning everybody. Today I want to talk about my fear of chickens. It is called a-lec-tor-o-pho-be-a. It is a very long word I found on Google on my ipad. Chickens can be very scary. Especilly Betty, my grandmama's chicken. Betty is very very very fat, but she has a very pointy beak and very pointy toes. She is short and brown and white and round and fluffy with a red thing on her head.

I know Betty is fluffy because I petted her once. I went to hospital because I petted her. I have a pinkish-white scar on my hand from Betty's beak and toes. Chickens always look at me evily. Like I stole their favurite food or their yummy recess. I think it is because I am scared of Betty, and all chickens look like Betty. But maybe Betty is a good chicken and feels sorry that she made me go to hospital.

My mama told me that I might be a e-ty-mol-o-gist, meaning someone who looks and thinks about words. I think it was because I asked Goggle about alec and toro and phobea means. Alec means idiot. I think it is a awesome thing to be called because that is what my big sister Callie always calls me and my mama always tells us to be nice to others. Callie also calls me chicken. Even though I want to run away from

them when ever I see them. I think Callie means I am very scary. Toro means garden company. Google rote it in a dark red box. Phobea means COVID-19 safety info. Google put a red spicky ball next the words. And because Mrs Smith wants us to rite a conclusoin. Chickens are very scary and I am scared of them. Betty might be a good chicken. I might be a e-ty-mol-o-gist. Thank you for listening. Bye bye.
