Quinn

Quinn walked into the Rogers Arena where he would be playing the Boston Bruins in a few short hours, full of nerves. Though, he didn't let it show, as he put on a smile for the photographer taking photos of them all arriving.

"Hey Callie." Quinn speaks, as he gets closer to her. She snaps a couple photos then puts her camera down.

"Hey Quinn. How are you feeling about the game?" Callie asks, looking at the photos she had taken.

"Ready to win." Quinn says, and the two chuckle. "Have a good one Callie." Quinn says agin as he passes by her and down the hall.

"Good luck tonight Quinn." She shouts back as Quinn walked further away.

Quinn took out his phone, seeing a new message from Lauren. He smiled and unlocked his phone, opening Instagram. He chuckles as he read her message.

Lauren Everette

Good luck. I'm looking forward to that goal tonight :)

Quinn walked into the locker room, a smile spread across his face. He hearted the message and quickly texted back.

Lauren Everette

Good luck. I'm looking forward to that goal tonight :)

Thanks, and you better not miss it :)

He put his phone back in his pocket and walked towards his locker. He looked over to see Brock looking at him with a silly look.

"What?" Quinn asked, setting his mug down on his shelf, eyes still focused on Brock.

"Who's got you smiling that?" Brock teases, making sure to keep his voice lower so only him and Quinn can hear. Quinn rolled his eyes and scoffed. Did he really want to say anything about Lauren? They had only been texting back and forth for a day. But at the same time, he really needed to talk to somebody about it who weren't his brothers.

"Come on spill." Brock said, noticing the conflicted facial expression that Quinn wore.

"I started texting this girl." Quinn unlocked his phone, clicking on Lauren's instagram and handed it to Brock. Brock looked down and scrolled, then looked back up and smirked at Quinn.

"Does Captain Quinnie got a crush?" Brock teased and they both laughed. Quinn takes his phone back and puts it in the bag that was hung in his locker.

"I don't know. She DMed me last night and we've been talking like all day today." Quinn spills, sitting down in front of his locker.

"So what have you been talking to her about?" Brock took a seat next to Quinn, so they could whisper and hear each other better as some more people started coming into the room.

"Pretty much anything. We talked about our careers and then sports. She texted saying that if I score a goal for her tonight that it would make up for our loss last night. That's basically how all of this started, was she DMed me after our loss last night." Quinn rambled, and Brock sat there, listening but internally laughing at how Quinn was rambling on about her.

When Quinn finished rambling, which was for like a solid four minutes, he looked over to Brock. Brock was straight faced, but his lips curled upwards into a smirk.

"Well, you better score that goal tonight." Brock teased, and Quinn shoved him playfully. Brock stood up, about to walk away, but instead he looked back down at Quinn.

"In those four minutes that you just rambled, it was pretty obvious that a certain feeling is mutual." Brock whispered, patting Quinn on the shoulder before walking over to talk to his line mate JT Miller.

Quinn sat there, thinking about what Brock said. Quinn knew that Lauren DMed him for a reason, but was it really because she liked him or was it because she had watched him lose and get frustrated and felt bad?

Quinn was brought out of his thoughts when his coach walked into the locker room and began speaking.

As warmups began, Quinn couldn't shake the feeling that Lauren was watching. As he thought of her, his lips curled upward into a smile, so he put his head down and grabbed a puck with his stick. He then picked his head back up and looked around, reading signs that fans had made and brought to the game.

He spotted one, obviously made by 2 friends, asking him for a picture and puck. He bent down and grabbed a puck, then scooped up another one and balanced it on his stick, and skated his way over to the glass where the girls were. He watched as the girls freaked as they realized he was heading towards them.

He threw the first puck over the glass, one of the girls catching it. Once the girl was ready again, he flipped the next puck up off his stick and over the glass too. The girls were smiling so wide that it made Quinn smile too. He stood up by the glass, "beside" the girls and let what he assumed was one of their moms, take a picture of them.

Once the picture was taken, they turned around and said 'Thank you'. Even though he couldn't hear it, he read their lips well enough to know what they were saying. He smiled, then skated back and over to where his line mate Hronek stood waiting for Demko to get in net.

After the first period, the score was 0-0. Quinn took his spot on the ice, waiting for the faceoff. As soon as the puck dropped, the Canucks got it in their possession. It floated around a few players, and the Canucks made their way into the Bruins zone.

The players got to their place, and the puck glided over the ice, until finally, it made it to Quinn. Quinn cradled it for a moment before taking a shot and scoring the first goal of the game.

The crowd erupted in cheers, and Quinn was surrounded by his teammates in a matter of seconds. He skated off toward the bench, high fiving down the line before stepping off the ice and sitting on the bench.

As the third period neared its end, the Canucks were up 2-0, with both goals being scored by Quinn. The Bruins had pulled their goalie for an extra man, and the puck stayed in the Canucks zone.

Finally, when Marchand shoots and it gets deflected out. Quinn is the first to get to it, with 2 Bruins players skating hard trying to catch up but it was no use. Quinn slides the puck into the empty net, scoring the 3rd goal of the game, aka a Hat Trick.

Hats flew from the stands, and landed all over the ice. Quinn was met by his line mates for another group celebration, and they headed towards the bench.

Quinn hurried when getting undressed after the game. He was eager to talk with Lauren again. He sat through the post-game speech by his coach and then they were allowed to leave.

Quinn grabbed his phone from his locker, quickly looking through the notifications, seeing Lauren's name. He smiles and he walks out of the locker room and back down the hall.

Quinn waits till he's in his car to respond, not wanting to get caught blushing in front of any the photographers on the way out. He opens Instagram and goes straight for their DM.

Lauren Everette

Okay wow, one goal would've sufficed lol, but I'm glad I got to watch you get a hat trick

Quinn chuckled and typed out a message back.

Lauren Everette

Okay wow, one goal would've sufficed lol, but I'm glad I got to watch you get a hat trick

Well I wanted to make sure we'd be on good terms from now on, so do you accept my hat trick as an apology?

Quinn hit send and had just started the car when he heard his phone ding again. He grabbed it, looking at the preview of the notification and seeing Lauren had replied already.

Lauren Everette

Mmm, I suppose so

Quinn smiled, setting his phone back down into the cup holder and started his journey back to his apartment.

Quinn had finally worked up the nerve to ask Lauren for her number, so they could text instead of just DMing each other on Instagram. And that's when an almost two hour long phone call happened.

"So I can't tell you the reason why until I get there, but I'll be in Vancouver in two weeks for a few months." Lauren told Quinn, as he had her on speaker and he was brushing his teeth. All of a sudden, his heart picked up pace.

"Oh really?" Quinn mumbled out and then spit into the sink. "Well I guess that means I'll have to show you around, whenever you're not busy with whatever you are coming for."

"How do you know that I'm not coming to Vancouver for you?" Lauren spoke and Quinn choked a little on the mouthwash that was in his mouth. Lauren started laughing, and Quinn knew she was being sarcastic. Yet, his heart felt a little heavy knowing she was being sarcastic.

"Oh you are so funny." Quinn chuckled lightly but the tone in his was meant to be more intimidating. Lauren only laughed more and Quinn sat there, listening to it.

"I'll be filming for a show, but if you want to show me around on my off time, I will not pass on that offer." Lauren's voice rang out over the phones speaker and it echoed lightly in the silence that filled his bathroom.

"Well you'll just have to tell me your schedule. Should I call your secretary and book an appointment?" Quinn sarcastically asked, and Lauren laughed again. Quinn smiled even wider hearing her laugh again. It was intoxicating. It was gentle and made you laugh along with her.

"Mhm okay smartass. I better get to sleep, I have a Pilates class to be at early tomorrow morning." Lauren said, yawning afterwards. Quinn's smile dropped a little. He didn't want to stop talking.

"Oh okay. Text tomorrow?" Quinn picked up his phone, taking it off speaker and putting it up against his ear.

"Of course. Goodnight Quinnie." Lauren spoke softly, and the line went dead. Quinn took his phone away from his ear, shutting the light off in the bathroom and walking out into his bedroom.

He laid down on his bed, opening his phone again and headed straight to the notes app.
