that was easily flirting ⋆·˚ ༘ *
ADDISON WAS SITTING ON THE bed of her hospital room with her legs criss crossed. her nurse, olivia, was supposed to come in soon to check up on her.
hopefully she would be able to leave later that day or tomorrow. the hospital wanted to keep her overnight incase if a concussion.
after a few minutes of just scrolling through her phone a knock came to her door. it was cracked open the slightest.
a man who seemed maybe a few years older than her stood in the entryway. he had sandy blonde hair and electric blue eyes. she knew she recognized him from somewhere but she couldn't put her finger on it.
"you can come in." she spoke softly, she was never one to talk sternly or loudly. "hi" she smiled to towards the man.
he quickly returned it as he pushed the door open enough to get in. "hello, olivia told me to come in here. she's running a little late and said it be easier to have both of us in the same room."
his tone was light and kind and his eyes shone as he spoke. addison quickly nodded "yeah, yeah come sit."
he mumbled a quick 'thanks' before sitting in the chair next to her. "i'm chris by the way." he held his hand out as if they were at a business meeting.
"we're in a hospital, not a cubicle. you really want a handshake?"
"what would you prefer? a high five?"
addi let out a quick laugh before pretending to think hard about it. she came to her conclusion before saying, "yes."
the man, chris, shook his head at her, but the smile on his lips showed he found it more amusing then anything.
quickly, he moved his hand from the form of a handshake to that of a high five.
"let me try again; i'm chris."
addi quickly high fived chris and said "i'm addison, but if you don't call me addi i will have a problem."
she quickly fell into acting mode and made sure to keep a straight face. she could tell chris thought she was joking until he saw her face. his eyes widened as he quickly rushed out "of course!"
when she saw how concerned he looked she quickly moved her hands in front of him and said "no! no! i wasn't serious! it's okay, i'd just prefer you call me addi instead of addison."
he laughed at her anxious behavior before nodding, "okay addi." he put emphasis on her name.
she slapped him lightly on the arm. "oh by the way" she started. chris looked at her urging her to continue "you're my high five buddy now!"
all he did was put his arm back up waiting for another one. as she was going to high five him she saw the cast that was engulfing the majority of his forearm.
her hand quickly changed paths and moved to grab the arm. making sure to use a gentle so she didn't accidentally make anything hurt, she pulled his arm closer.
her brows knit together in worry, worry for the male next to her all consuming. "is this why you're here? what happened?"
chris winced at the memory but addi took it as her causing him pain. she quickly pulled back and began to profoundly apologize.
chris grabbed the girls failing hands and tugged them in front of him. her gaze soon fell upon him and their eyes locked.
something fell in to place that was quickly left for another day as chris began to sooth the girl. "addi! ADDI! it wasn't you ok? you didn't hurt me, the memory is just very vivid."
she nodded as she took deep breaths. "i'm sorry, it's just that i don't do well when i think i've hurt someone."
he put on a humorous smile and said "aww addi, do you care about me already?"
addi just laughed as she slapped chris on the arm playfully.
the two spent an hour just getting to know each other. talking about things ranging from why they were at the hospital to childhood memories.
when olivia finally walked in she had a whole speech on how sorry for being late she was. she cut herself short when she saw the two laughing like there was no tomorrow.
"so i see you two have been getting along." olivia smirked as the two jumped. addison, being so close to the edge of her bed, almost fell onto chris.
chris quickly put his arms up to stable her and said "careful addi, you don't need to be in here any longer then you already have been."
olivia was going to comment on the way chris said addi's name, and the way they looked at each other, but stopped when she realized they were too wrapped up in each other anyway.
"alright, well chris let me get you checked out one final time so you can finally leave."
addi looked up at chris, and olivia could swear she saw what seemed like sadness in her eyes. "you're leaving."
he nodded, not noticing the hurt in her eyes. "once they check once again this is all good i'm okay to leave."
olivia ran through a basic enough inspection with the cast still on his arm. she saw that it was only growing better.
"alright, take this prescription and give it to the nurse at the front desk and you're good to go."
chris smiled at her as he grabbed the note and stood to stand. "thanks."
once at the door he turned around and smiled at addi, "bye gorgeous."
addison visibly blushed and mumbled a farewell to the man as he left.
olivia turned to look at the girl on the bed. the two had become fast friends over addi's stay at the hospital. she pretended to fan herself with her clipboard. "well damn! i know i told him to come in here but i didn't think it would mean i came back to a bunch of tension!"
addi mock glared at her "he's just really sweet and kind, easy to get along with."
olivia gasped "that!", she pointed at the door that chris just exited "is not easy to get along with! that was easily flirting!"
addison looked at her newly found friend and gave an innocent smile.
"so what if it was?"
"addi! you were flirting with CAPTAIN AMERICA!"
"i- WHAT?"
