Chapter 3
(WARNING : Beware Of Grammatical Errors!)
APOLLO
I don't know how many times I would run away from my bloody past. But wherever I go, they just keep following me and after so many years they have managed to catch up with me. The bad guys had found us. Again.
Me and my auntie didn't lose another precious second as we began to run. Even I felt the severe pain in my entire body. I tried my best to run fast as I could.
What if there's a spooky music in the background, maybe we were in the horror movie.
Why? Because we being chase by death. Death of my bloody past and I don't want the two of us to be part of the tragedy, another traumatic incident that might put our lives into history.
Talk about life and death situation.
The street was damn too quiet. Only our footsteps made a light noise. I saw broken lampshades. Their brightness goes on and off like christmas lights. The cold air gave us waves of adrenaline that made our heart beats accelerate fast.
I wouldn't want to end our lives in this road and I don't wish to let go the hand of my aunt either.
She was my last beacon of light. I needed her by my side until the end of time, somebody who could see the hope inside of my heart and somebody who truly believes that I could conquer the fear of the dark. If she hadn't been with me, my life wouldn't have had a bright destination and maybe I would have just been another broken soul lost in the paths of nowhere.
Lastly, I don't wouldn't let anyone take away my happiness.
My thoughts melted like a butter instantly, when we heard a gunshot behind us. We didn't stop running and I didn't dare look behind on my shoulder since danger was still lurking and threatened to take hold of us.
Tears trickled down from our eyes, all the way we sobbed nonstop.
Aunt Jonah gently tapped my shoulder and she pointed her forefinger towards on the other side of the street. I followed her gaze as my curious eyes landed to a black car. A sign of relief plastered on my face.
We finally found our temporary sanctuary.
I felt the slight touch of my auntie's hand on mine, and then, she quickly dragged me towards the black car. We both hide and leaned our backs behind it and took cover.
My auntie place a finger on her lips silencing me from making any further noise as the bad guys who had been pursuing us, were slowly gaining and getting nearer to our hideout.
Deep voices filled the quiet streets. I could also hear the sound of quick footsteps farther away from me and, I slowly stood up and did a double take on the scene before me through the windshield of the black car.
In the middle of the street, I saw a groups of men, who were all muscular and wore black regalia. I couldn't see their faces in particular because of the fogginess of the car's hind view mirror.
I was startled in surprise when they mentioned my freaking name.
"Any sign of that young man named Apollo?" The man who held a scythe said.
"No sir, also no trace of his aunt too, they hid cleverly," The one who wore glasses replied.
"Maybe they found a way back to the light kingdom!" The other one gasped.
"That's absurd. I saw them minutes ago. We almost had a trace that leads to them. But they are to slippery to deal with," the black guy who held the gun had chimed in the conversation.
"What if they are hiding just around corner? Maybe they are eavesdropping to our conversation? And what if that young man knew who he really is." The blond guy questioned them doubtfully.
"No I will not let that happen," the guy who held the scythe snapped angrily in front of them. "We must find them at once. There's something suspicious on that Apollo and his beloved aunt. I have a bad feeling that they have the object that leads to the light kingdom," he said thoughtfully into the cold air.
"You mean sir they had the key to the light kingdom?" the one who wore eye glasses clarified him.
"Precisely. We must find them first before they can enter the light kingdom!" he declared.
"And where we can find them?" the blond guy asked.
"That's not for me to know. You brainless moron. Go find them. Maybe I would slap a big medal of stupidity on your pathetic face!" the guy who held the scythe shouted at him.
They paused in silence when a certain sound made a noise in the other of the street. I glanced back at my auntie. She mouthed something at me that she was the one who created the noise. Then she pressed her finger on her lips.
"Shh." Aunt Jonah hissed quietly.
"Ok." I nodded back at her.
She gave me thumbs up, telling me that her plan did work effectively. We watched the group of men glanced to the direction on where the noise come from. Their attention was diverted to the other street.
With that, I mentally laughed because of their idiocy.
"Sir! I think they went that way!" The guy who wore eye glasses exclaimed.
"Are you sure four eyes?" the blond guy said hysterically, "what if they are misleading us to a wrong direction!"
"Enough with the chit chat! Let's get going!" The one who held the scythe said angrily at them.
They walked to the other the street and began to search any trace of us.
With that, I sighed in pure relief. That was close!
Their conversation left a haunted scenario inside my mind. It kept repeating numerous times like a recorded tape. Also their words was enough to send waves of electric shivers down into my back spine. It shocked me with the depths of wonders.
Who exactly are they?
What is their ulterior motive?
Why they want to catch me and my auntie?
Lastly, why did they mentioned the light kingdom and the key?
I don't know on what's going since I was utterly clueless. My thoughts had crumbled into dusts instantly when I heard my auntie speak up behind me.
"Apollo dear. Are you alright?" she asked me in a worried tone.
I faced in front of her. I saw her tears spilled out from her eyelids. She held my hand then she kissed it with her sweet lips softly.
"I'm so sorry. Apollo. I brought you into this mess. I didn't mean too. I swear." Aunt Jonah stammered while shaking her head slowly in disappointment.
"Auntie what are you talking about?" I frowned at her. Confusion was written all over my face.
"I didn't expect this would go far too dangerous. I'm sorry if I didn't tell you this early and dear you don't deserve this kind of pain," she answered, like every words came out of her mouth was mostly true and genuine.
I just stared at my auntie dumbfounded. I don't know what to react and I was completely speechless on what's she was talking about. I heard my heart beats extremely fast along with the emotions that swirled around into my system like a vicious storm. I felt anxiety crept inside of me. It shook my entire world into pure chaos.
I couldn't breathe because of it, something bad is about to happen and I desperately wanted to know. Lately I was getting confuse in the sudden turn of events.
One of them was my Aunt Jonah. she was hiding something important from me and I could feel she was about to tell me at this very right moment.
"Apollo promise me you wouldn't freak out," Aunt Jonah began slowly. She took a long breath before her eyes stared at me directly.
"Ok? What is it auntie?" I asked her while my eyebrows knitted together in curiosity.
I don't know if its me or it's just that someone stopped the time and everything around us had froze in a sudden. That moment I felt my heart beats nervously fast and every tick of the clock was also the beat of my heart. Then I waited for her next words.
"The bad guys we had encountered earlier was more dangerous than you think. They wanted to capture you for some logical reason and about the light kingdom they had mentioned was true." Aunt Jonah said. I saw her tears continue to stream down in her cheeks.
"What do you mean Auntie? I clearly don't understand what you're talking about." I stammered after I heard those words came from her mouth.
Aunt Jonah held my hand tightly while her teary eyes still looking at my confuse face.
"Apollo. The key. They began searching for the key." She stuttered and every words she said was hard for her to pronounce.
"The key? What for? And where is it by the way?" I questioned her back in surprise.
I saw my auntie slid her hand inside her
jean pocket and the next scene made my world crumbled into dusts.
She held a small thing. It was glimmering with gold. I saw the object is freaking glowing and that was enough for me to be silent in one place.
"Apollo. I am the guardian of this key. It can unlock the entrance door from the light palace."
....
