Part 30 | Imola

Part 30 | Imola

After the race in Miami I hadn't been able to get Lando in private. He ignored me and avoided me, I had tried to wait by his hotel room door, but he never came.

I had called and texted him. In the end I didn't know why I wanted to know so badly why he had called me that night of his birthday dinner.

But I wanted answers.

He knew I wanted to talk to him and he fled every time I tried to catch him alone.

In the end I had to get ready for the dinner with Kika, Pierre and Charles. We had gone out and had fun, but I was distracted as I still wasn't able to get an answer from Lando.

I had left two days after to the race In Italy, I wanted to set up and prepare earlier than the others.

Though I should never have done that. The entire track in Imola was flooded and the streets made it hard for anyone to get back and forth.

I was currently in a taxi trying to leave the track. "Go around" I told the driver in Italian.

I had my iPad in front of me, a teams call on the screen as I had told Zak and the drivers the news of the tracks condition.

"We might have to cancel the race" Zak said and thought for a while.

"What are they saying down there?" Zak asked and I glanced at Lando who looked down at the table for the entire call.

"They're saying it will not stop anytime soon, we should get the race called off. It is not safe, I can barely get out of the area right now, the streets are flooded, the cars are losing grip on the road" I tell him.

"Be safe, Jasmine. Don't be too impatient with getting out of there" Zak said and I nodded my head.

"I know, it's taking forever but rather that than crashing" I mumble.

"Alright, we're gonna talk to FIA. See what they say, get back to Monaco as soon as you can and we'll see you there" Zak said and I nodded my head to his words.

"Of course, update me when you have a definite answer. I'll talk to you later" I say and Zak nods before confirming.

"Bye, be safe" Oscar called out and I gave him a small smile before hanging up. Lando had only continued to look down.

He looked angry, all the time. I couldn't figure out why, or why he left every time I tried to talk to him.

It was tempting to text Lando after the meeting, but I didn't, I stopped myself as I typed another message or insult to get him to respond.

I sighed and deleted it before shutting my phone down, I looked back up at the roads only to see it completely flooded.

"We're not gonna be able to make it to the hotel are we?" I ask the driver in Italian. He looks back at me with a sad look and confirms my suspicions.

It takes thirty minutes before we're able to move. By then Zak had called me once again and the two drivers were there as well.

"It's official, the race in Imola is cancelled" Zak confirmed and I nodded understandably as he explained what they had said.

My eyes divert from the screen to look up as I hear more floods. My eyes widen and the driver starts shouting in Italian.

A car was floating towards us. "Shit" I cursed, my face drained of all its color and I grabbed the panic handle and put the iPad in my lap.

"What's going on?" Zak asked worried when he saw I braced myself for impact.

"Shit, shit shit!" I cursed in Italian as two cars crashed into the side of the car—a scream escaped my lips, but it quickly died down as my head smashed against the window, breaking the glass from the force of the cars and the flood.

I felt pain and something warm run down my head and I groaned in pain.

My ears were ringing and the car was deformed after the dent of the two cars crashing into us.

I glanced at the screen and saw all three men open their mouths, it looked like they were shouting, but I couldn't hear them.

The car floated into a wall and another forceful blow landed in the side of the car and this time my head hit the car door again, I blacked out fully.

Everything became quiet and black. Lots a black dots filled my vision.

Lando shouted so loudly at the screen and grabbed the screen harshly as he saw Jasmine's head smash against the window, cracking it, when she groggily lifted her head he saw blood on the crashed window.

"We have to help her! She's alone" Lando snapped at Zak who started dialing on his phone.

Oscar sat in shock as he watched Jasmine attempt to move. "Jas! Jasmine, can you hear me? Jas get out of the car!" Lando shouted into the screen.

But she didn't react. Lando knew there was a big chance she had injured her head.

"Jasmine, fuck! Get out of the car!!!" Lando screamed desperately.

Zak was pacing back and forth as he spoke rusty Italian and then English into the phone.

Lando and Oscar watched as another rumble in the car made her smack her head into the car door and knocked her unconscious.

Her iPad stumbled to the floor and he saw her head fall against the window and her eyes closed.

"Jasmine! Jas—" Lando shouted, he saw water covering the camera and within a second the iPad shut off. "Fuck!!!" Lando shouted and slammed his fist into the table.

Oscar was in too much shock to say or do anything. Lando turned to Zak immediately.

"Make someone get her, now! Right now!" Lando shouted at Zak. His eyes were red and his face was void of color, he was furious and worried.

"What do you think I'm trying to do, Lando? It's not easy, we have a major flood in Imola—there's nothing we can do from here—and no, you won't go there. You can't do anything for her" Zak said and glared at Lando as he tried to object.

"Go to your hotel and wait for more news" Zak ordered. Charlotte came in and escorted the two out. Lando called Charles immediately to tell him everything of what had just happened and what they saw.

Charles dropped everything in his hands and knocked on Lando's door within five minutes.

Charles had Carlos, Carla and Arthur with him. Lando explained everything that had happened and what he had seen and when he was finished he looked for ideas.

But none of them were able to think of ideas as worry filled their heads and clouded their judgement of the situation.

Lando teared up as he realized they had to get over the shock before being any kind of help to him.

"We have to do something, come on—think of something" Lando said, his voice broke and Charles looked up with narrowed eyes.

Charles knew something was going on, something that he didn't know about. Something that might've been deeper than he ever knew.
