Wild Love

Dedicated to WolfieGirl1997

Ashton and Luke have been dating for nearly a year now, and Luke still has no idea his boyfriend is a werewolf.

-------------------------------------------

A long time ago, humans and werewolves got together under the full moon to celebrate the anniversary of their peace.

The leader of the humans, who's name had long since been forgotten, and the pack leader had finally come to peace terms, ending a thousand years of war between the two species.

But then, the leaders maid had come home to find the leader dead, brutally murdered.

She ran out of the hut, accusing the wolves of treachery and murder.

The werewolves denied it, but no one believed them, and the fighting began again.

Now in modern times, werewolves existed in secrecy among humans, scared to reveal their true selves in fear of being hunted and accused all over again.

The werewolves forbade their kind to mix with the humans and vice versa. But one human and one wolf went against the rules.

It was nearly a year after Luke met Ashton, and he still had no idea his boyfriend was a werewolf.

And Ashton was determined to keep it that way, but unfortunately for him, fate had a different destiny in mind.

-

Luke sighed. "Calum, can you please get your feet off the table? I'm trying to clean the house before Ashton gets here and you and Mikey are such slobs."

Calum looked up. "What? Ashton's here. He's been here actually, for like half an hour."

Luke spluttered. "What?! Where is he?" Calum pointed out the door. "Outside, talking with Mikey."

"Why didn't anyone tell me?" Luke ran out the door.

Ashton was sitting on the porch steps with Michael, both were laughing at something and holding drinks. Luke hugged his boyfriend from behind. "Hey, I didn't know you were here." He buried his face into Ashton's neck and inhaled. Ashton always smelt like the woods for some reason.

Ashton smiled at him. "Hey babe, yeah, Mikey just invited me to have a drink." He grinned and pecked Luke's nose. "I heard you were trying to clean for me." Luke blushed and squeezed harder. "That's a lie."

"Lie." Michael said, making quotation marks with his fingers. "Didn't you ever go to church Luke? It's against the Bible to lie."

"Against the Bible." Luke snorted. "If that's true, then why do you call your mom every night and tell me and Calum it was your girlfriend?"

Michael glared at him and stomped back into the house, making Ashton laugh.

Luke took Michael's spot by Ashton, turning around and leaning against Ashton's chest. Ashton set his drink down and brought his hands up to Luke's hair, running his hands through it as they watched the sunset.

"Ashton?" Luke asked a moment later, breaking the silence.

"Hm?" Ashton hummed against Luke's pale neck, where he was trailing soft kisses. Luke closed his eyes. "What do you think of the future?"

Ashton stopped. "The future? I think it's going to be great."

Luke tilted his head up to look at him. "How do you know?" Ashton smiled down at him, bringing his face down to kiss Luke. "Because you'll be in it."

Luke grinned and blushed. "Really? Where do you see us ten years from now?"

"Oh I don't know. Maybe on a farm somewhere." Ashton said wistfully. "Settled down you know, with some pigs probably."

Luke burst out laughing. "Pigs? Neither of us know how to run a farm!"

Ashton smiled and tugged on Luke's hair playfully. "That's what you think. I'm pretty good with some animals."

"Like?" Luke teased, grinning up at him.

"Cats, dogs, the usual." Ashton looked over at the setting sun. "Wolves."

"Wolves?" Luke sat up. "That's far from the usual animals, don't you think?" Ashton looked back at him and forced a smile. "Yeah, I was just kidding."

Luke laughed and stood up, offering his hand down to Ashton. "I'm getting cold, come snuggle with me in my bed?"

Ashton accepted his hand and they went inside.

A few minutes later, Luke crawled into bed and cuddeled up against Ashton. The older boy wrapped his arms around him, holding him close. Luke sighed into him happily. He gave Ashton a kiss before he fell asleep.

Ashton stared out the window, absentmindedly playing with Luke's hair with a hand as he looked out to the bright half moon.

-

Luke sleepily woke the next morning. He felt beside him for Ashton and frowned when his hand ran through empty sheets.

He sat up and rubbed sleep out of his eye while he looked around for his boyfriend. He swung his feet out of bed. "Ashton?" He called.

He stood up and threw on a shirt as he walked down the stairs.

"Ashy?"

"In the kitchen Lukey!" Ashton called and Luke followed his voice.

Ashton was sitting at the table, reading the paper when Luke walked in. "Where's Calum and Mikey?" Luke asked, looking through the fridge.

"They went out shopping." Ashton said.

"Oh." He turned and faced Ashton. "Hey, why did you leave me alone in bed this morning? You made me write a story in my head."

"Oh?" Ashton smiled and set down the paper.

"Yeah, it was just a quick little thing about waking up alone after a one night stand." Luke shrugged and got out the milk, making a bowl of cereal.

"Did you think of a title?" Ashton asked from the table.

"Empty Sheets." Luke admitted. "But it doesn't matter, you're right here." Luke smiled and sat beside him. "Right by me, exactly where you should be."

"Forever and an eternity." Ashton giggled. "Sorry for not waking you up."

"It's fine. And we're alone today." Luke said micheviously. "You know what that means."

"Playing Michaels games while he's gone?"

Luke pushed his bowl out of the way and sat on Ashton's lap, making his drop the paper. "Not exactly."

"Hmm..." Ashton nipped Luke's neck, leaving tiny marks. "What could we possibly do then?"

"Guess." Luke laughed, throwing his head back.

Ashton grinned. "I'd rather have you tell me..." Luke shivered at the feel of Ashton's hot breath in his ear. "...all the things we could do."

Luke gasped suddenly. "Ouch! Did you bite me?"

"Did I?" Ashton frowned. " 'M, sorry, sharp canines I guess."

Luke smiled. "Doesn't matter, I kind of liked it."

Ashton laughed. "Luke Hemmings, you are the kinkiest guy on the planet."

"Hey, I said kinda!' Luke pouted. Then he grinned and wiggled around on Ashton's lap.

Ashton stiffened beneath him. "Luke, stop doing what you're doing."

"I'm not doing anything!" Luke batted his eyes innocently.

"Bull." Ashton's voice was lower and his hands gripped Luke's hips as the blonde grinded down. "You know damn well what you're doing."

Luke winked and clasped his hands behind Ashton's neck. "Yeah, I can feel it working."

Ashton groaned. "Seriously, your friends could walk through the door at any moment."

"Good, Mikey owes me from when I walked in on him and his girlfriend fucking on the couch."

Ashton's eyes widened. "I sat on that couch!"

Luke shrugged. "We cleaned it." He leaned in and pressed his lips against Ashton's.

"Mmm, what kind of cologne do you use? You always smell like the forest to me." Luke said, running his fingertips down Ashton's neck, making the older boy shudder at the touch.

"Do you like it?" Ashton asked as Luke's fingers ran down his side, stopping at his belt.

"Yeah, it smells like nature and camping." Luke said as he inhaled deeply.

Ashton smiled and grabbed Luke's hand. "Good to know."

The doorknob clicked as it turned and Ashton quickly pushed Luke off him as the door opened.

Luke climbed back onto his seat and pouted as Michael and Calum came in, carrying groceries.

"Morning fuckers." Mikey greeted. "How was last night?"

"Oh Ashton, oh my god, yes, yes! Faster baby!" Calum cried in a high voice and he and Michael laughed.

Luke glared. "We didn't have sex last night. Or this morning."

That shut them up as they looked over at the couple, wondering if Luke was lying or not.

"Oh, I gotta go or I'll be late for work." Ashton said as he checked the time. He slid off his seat and kissed Luke's cheek. "I'll see you tonight for the fireworks."

"Bye!" Luke called as Ashton headed out the door.

Michael sighed and slammed a can of soup on the counter. "Can you two just get married already and go be adorable somewhere else?"

"Yeah, propose to Ashton already." Calum whined. "Your love is so cute it's giving me diabetes."

"Oh whatever, Ashton's gunna propose to me." Luke rolled his eyes as he blushed at his friends comments.

"What? No way, he may be older but you're more mature." Calum argued. "You do it."

Michael sighed. "Calum don't be stupid. Who ever proposes is the one who tops in sex. Does Luke look the topper?"

Calum eyed Luke. "No...guess not. Guess we'll have to wait for Ashton to ask then."

"H-hey!" Luke exclaimed, blushing harder. "Excuse you guys! I top sometimes!"

Mikey laughed. "More like occasionally."

"Once." Calum snickered.

Luke huffed and stomped out of the room.

-

Later that night, Ashton pulled up to the house, where the others were all gathered in the backyard, sitting around a fire as they waited.

"Ashton's here!" Luke jumped off his seat and tackled Ashton into a hug. "Now we can start the fireworks!"

"You guys waited for me? I told you to start without me." Ashton said as he hugged Luke tightly.

"We could never!" Luke walked him back to the fire. "Light the big one up first Mikey!"

After nearly an hour of watching spectacular fireworks explode in the air, Ashton suddenly excused himself and ran into the woods.

Luke watched him go in confusion. "Where's he going?"

Calum shrugged and handed Michael a firework. "Probably to piss."

Luke frowned. "But the house is right there."

"Some guys like to do it in the wild." Michael said.

Luke got up. "That's gross. No, Ashton wouldn't do that. I'm gunna go check on him."

He used his phone for light as he walked through the dense woods.

"Ashton? Ash? Where are you?" Luke called into the green blackness. "Come back to the fire!"

Something rustled and Luke whipped around to the source of the noise, shining his light onto; nothing.

He turned back around slowly, his heart beat quickening.

"Ashton? Why are you out here? Where are you?" He tripped over a fallen log and huffed.

"Seriously, let's head back now. I probably got like twelve ticks on me right now."

There was no answer.

Luke dialed Ashton's number but it rang to voicemail and he hung up.

He started to get worried.

He scanned his surroundings. "A-Ash? Please come out now."

He turned around and saw two pin points of light, glaring at him from a few feet away. A pair of eyes.

He stopped and stared, his phone falling out of his hand in surprise and fear.

The eyes continued to glare at him and the sound of Luke's heart hammering filled the air, until, "Luke!"

The eyes whipped around to a figure crashing through the woods. Luke turned too and sighed in relief when he saw Ashton running up to him.

"There you are!" Luke grabbed him up in a hug. "Why did you run out here? You got me worried."

"Sorry, I had to call my mom and I was looking for reception." Ashton said, picking up Luke's phone. "C'mon, let's head back to the fire."

Something wasn't adding up in Luke's head but before he could voice it, he heard a growl.

Ashton froze. He growled back, and hugged Luke close as he looked around the dark woods.

"Ashton? W-what was that?" Luke asked fearfully.

"Nothing. Probably just an animal. Let's get back now." He grabbed Luke's hand and led them back to the fire in a fast pace.

"There you guys are!" Calum exclaimed. "It's getting late, we were getting worried."

"It is pretty late." Ashton agreed. "Let's go inside now." He tugged Luke's hand and they walked inside.

"I smell like you now." Luke teased.

Ashton smiled down at him. "Speaking of, can I use your shower?"

"Yeah, towels are under the sink. You can use my washcloth, it's the white one."

Ashton nodded and went into the bathroom while Luke got ready for bed.

He laid in bed, wondering what had happened in the woods. He was still thinking it over when he heard the water shut off and Ashton came into the room, in just a towel.

"Don't bother." Luke said when Ashton went to the closet. "Just come to bed as you are." He smirked and Ashton smiled, dropping the towel.

"Let's finish what we started in the kitchen." Luke said as Ashton got into bed with him.

-

Ashton woke up the next morning to see Luke smiling up at him.

"Morning babe. You didn't leave this time."

Ashton smiled and kissed him softly. "I would never treat you like a one night stand."

"Oh yeah." Luke giggled. "We had sex last night." Then he frowned. "And I bottomed."

Ashton laughed. "You can top next time then baby. Let's go make some breakfast!"

They got dressed and went downstairs, where Calum and Michael were already eating.

"So Ashton, are you just gunna move in now or do we gotta wait for you to propose to Luke?" Mikey asked as they entered.

"I'll do whatever Luke wants." Ashton replied, getting down pancake mix.

"And I want him to stay with me for forever and an eternity!" Luke declared.

Calum slammed his spoon onto the table. "Thats it! I can't eat with all this damn cuteness flying around in here!"

He got up and left, making Michael laugh and follow him.

"Was that a compliment or an insult?" Ashton asked. Luke walked up to him. "I think it was an insulting compliment. "

"Oh. How rudely nice."

They made pancakes and danced around to the radio, but Luke couldn't get into it. His mind was still on last night at the woods.

"Hey Ash?" Luke asked. Ashton stopped dancing and looked at him. "Yeah?"

"Last night, in the woods, you said you were calling your mom..."

"Yeah...?"

"Well, this is really stupid, but its just bugging me. I called your phone, but it went to voicemail. Wouldn't it have beeped if you were using your phone to call your mom?"

Ashton froze.

"I mean, wouldn't it have given me a busy signal or something?" Luke mixed the batter. "And why were you out in the woods anyways? Wouldn't there be less signals in there?"

He stopped stirring and turned around when Ashton didn't respond.

"Ash?"

Ashton blinked and smiled. "I turned my phone off after I called. That might be why. And there's better signals if you get to higher ground. I was looking for some hills."

"Oh." Luke went back to stirring. "Sorry, I don't know why I was thinking about that."

"It's fine. Do you have any chocolate chips? Let's make the pancakes sweet."

"Yeah, I'll get them." Luke went to the pantry and pulled out the bag of chocolate.

Ashton was staring out the window.

"There's a full moon tonight." Luke said, dumping the whole bag into the batter. "We should camp out to enjoy it!"

"Oh...I can't. Not tonight." Ashton said, pulling the curtain closed.

"Aw, why not?" Luke pouted.

"I got to fill in for a co worker at work." Ashton shrugged. "Next time though, maybe."

"You've always had something planned on full moon nights, we never get to enjoy them together!" Luke poured the batter over the grill.

"Half moons are just as pretty!" Ashton smiled, and hugged Luke from behind. "We enjoy those."

Luke set the cup down and eyed Ashton. "Yeah but, it's like your a werewolf or something. You never come out on full moon night."

Ashton stepped away from Luke and laughed loudly. "Luke don't be stupid, were wolves don't exist. Just a series of coincidences."

Luke shrugged and went back to the pancakes.

After breakfast, they cuddled on the couch and watched TV.

"But they could." Luke argued suddenly. "I mean, no ones got any proof that they dont exist."

Ashton sighed. "But no one has solid proof that they do either."

They drove to the store to get some ingredients for dinner.

"They could have proof! Like pictures or whatever, but people could say that's not real when it really is." Luke said as he paid for the items.

Ashton pushed the cart. "How would we know if it's authentic or not?"

Luke shrugged. "What if it really is though?"

Ashton stopped and grabbed Luke's hands, staring down at him with dark eyes.

"Luke, listen to me. Stop talking about it, okay? No more debating. They don't exist. Period. Conversation over." He let go and started pushing the cart again.

Luke walked beside him. "Why are you such a non believer? Usually I'm the one telling you stuff like vampires and unicorns and Santa don't exist."

They reached the car and Ashton sighed. "I grew up. Now help me unload these groceries."

Luke sighed but obliged and let the conversation drop.

-

Ashton drove home alone later that night. He checked the time.

11:48

He was running late. He had stayed at Luke's longer than he should have.

He tapped the steering wheel impatiently. He had to get home before twelve. He checked the clock again.

11:50

"Shit." He cursed and sped a little over the speed limit, hoping there wasn't a cop nearby.

He thought about what Luke said. He wasn't hiding himself as good as normal, Luke was catching on.

"You always smell like the forest to me."

"Ouch! Did you bite me?....Sharp canines I guess."

"It's like you're a werewolf, you never come out on full moon nights."

"Wolves? Those are far from the normal animals, don't you think?"

"Why did you run into the woods?"

Ashton shook his head and looked at the clock.

11:53

He went a little faster, blaming himself for leaving Luke's so late. He should of been paying attention, now Luke was suspicious. So were his other friends, the wolf ones.

The leader of his pack was in the woods that night, and Ashton knew he was in trouble. They knew about his relationship with Luke.

That also meant Luke was in danger.

Humans and werewolves weren't allowed to get along, and his pack had been getting suspicious of him.

Thats why the leader was sent to spy on him. Now he knows. Which meant Luke was no longer safe.

But Ashton couldn't protect him tonight. There was a full moon, which meant a meeting between all the werewolves in the area.

Ashton finally pulled into his driveway and saw it was 11:59.

He was just in time to get in trouble.

-

"We were wondering if you were gunna show up." A white wolf snickered, shouldering past Ashton.

Ashton glared but stayed silent.

"Ignore Seth, we all do." A gray wolf smiled at him. "Want to sit by me?"

Ashton smiled back. "I would if I could, but Im the subject of tonights meeting, so I have a special seat."

The gray wolf smiled sympathetically. "Oh, sorry. Good luck."

Ashton thanked her and sat down in the middle of the ring of his pack, uncomfortably shifting under the stares of all the eyes on him.

Just then a large black wolf stood up. "Ashton Irwin, you have broken our law and dated a human. What do you have to say in your defence?"

"I love him." Ashton glared defiantly. "And anyone who messes with him, messes with me."

"You understand the punishment for breaking the law I presume?"

"He doesnt know what I am." Ashton said. "You can't put me on trial for that."

"Im not. Im punishing you for breaking our ancient laws. Now, you know what the punishment is, correct?" The black wolf glared.

"Yes, the taking away of the wolf half." Ashton whispered.

-

Luke yawned as he walked down the stairs. He opened the front door and blinked down at Ashton.

"Hey, what are you doing here so early?" Luke asked as he let him in.

"Just wanted to say hi." Ashton smiled.

Luke squinted at him. "Hey, are you okay? You look pale, and smaller. Did you lose like, twenty pounds last night?"

"Do I really look that bad?" Ashton laughed.

Luke smiled and made two cups of coffee. They took their drinks and sat outside in the bleak morning.

"No, you always look good to me." Luke grinned.

Ashton smiled and leaned back onto his boyfriend.

"Hey Luke?" He asked a moment later.

"Yeah?"

"I'll stay with you for the next full moon night, if you want."

Luke looked down at him in surprise. "Really? Thanks! What changed your mind?"

Ashton smiled. "You did. I realized you were the most important thing in my life, and I was being stupid to be away from you when you wanted to be together. "

Luke beamed and hugged him tightly. "I love you."

"I love you too. For forever and an eternity."
