*The Interruptions
A one shot where Louis wants to leave, but Harry tries his best to prevent it.

I wanted to leave. Not this city or my small apartment, life. I wanted to leave my life for good and go on. Most people would say that I wanted to die, but that wasn't true. Dying meant ending things and really it meant dying. I didn't want to die. I wanted to live, but the only way that I could stop my life and start truly fresh was to die.
That's why I stood on the table in the middle of my living room with a noose around my neck. All of my things were neatly stacked along the wall of the room. I had labeled boxes with what would go to whom after I left so nobody had to fight over it. I also laid out a will and some money for my body to be cremated. I didn't want a funeral. Funerals were for the dead and I wasn't dying, simply blowing out a candle or ending this chapter.
My favorite song played in the background as I stood on the table thinking about the last things that I would do. I go to take a step off, but stop.
The phone rings.
I groan and take my head out of the noose to go answer it. I didn't want to leave messages behind for my family to sort through. I pick up the phone and place it to my ear. The familiar sound of a computer fills my ears as I'm reminded that Hot Topic as a sale going on. I place the phone done and go back to the table.
I place my head back in the noose and let my mind settle for a moment before I go to step off. What would my last words be? I open my mouth to say my last words, but stop again.
The song comes to an end.
I groan louder this time. I refused to do this without my favorite song playing. I take my head out again and go and replay the song. I look around, making sure that there was nothing else to interrupt me. When I find nothing I go back to the table and place my head in the rope for the third time. I take a step off of the table before anything else can interrupt me.
Only to land on the floor.
I look up and see that the rope had snapped. Great. I had to be hung. There was no other way that I wanted to go out. I stand and grab my keys. I had to go the store and buy stronger rope.
When I get there I go straight to one of the workers not wanting to waste any time in searching. It had to be done today. There was no way around it. I had my calendar marked for this day, I had all my bills paid so that it wouldn't stress out my family. It had to be done today.
I tap the man's shoulder and he turns around. I notice his name tag first.
Harry.
Simple.
"Where can I find the rope?" I ask. He raises an eyebrow and looks me up and down before taking me to the right aisle.
"What kind of rope are you looking for exactly?" He questions.
"Just...uh...something to go in a tool box and something strong." I answer. He nods and hands me a bundle of rope. It was bright purple. That wouldn't do. I refuse to end my life with bright purple rope. "Do you have a different color?" He sucks in a breath and takes another look at me before answering.
"Sorry this is the only kind we have."
"Do you have any plain rope colors that could...uh...hold someone up?" I ask. I didn't want him to think I wanted to kill myself. He would try to stop me and I would have to explain that I didn't want to die. I had listened to it all before. Move somewhere else and start a new life. It wasn't that easy. He wouldn't understand.
"Oh...you're one of them. That's not going to work at all then. Here." He hands me a different kind of rope. This kind was brown. Good. He places the purple back on the rack and heads back to the cash register. I follow him.
I pay for my things and head out. I'm about to open the car door when I hear someone shout at me. I turn around and see Harry.
"I know what you're doing." He says. He couldn't.
"Okay." He pushes his lips together and stuffs his hands in the pockets of his apron. I had no clue what he was on about.
"Do you know that you shit when you die? Something about your body relaxing. I don't know I read it somewhere. Tarps are on sale if you want to...get one." He suggests. I nod. I didn't want my parents to have to clean up...something like that. I head inside.

When the man went back in the store I pulled out my pocket knife. I couldn't let the man go back home and continue with his plans. I was once in a place like that and I was thankful I found a way out.
I head to one of his tires and push the knife into it. It took a few times, but finally I was able to slash the tire. I fold the knife back up and push it into my jeans just as the guy exits the store again.

I head back to my car after buying the tarp. I see Harry standing by my car. I didn't think about it. I wanted to go home and finish this already. When I get to my car I see Harry's worried expression.
"I was heading back in when I heard a noise. I came back out and saw that someone had slashed your tire. I can fix it for you here, but it'll take at least a day. If you want I can drive you home." Harry suggests. I didn't care about the tire at this point.
"Sure," I mutter. I didn't care if he was a murderer in disguise at this point or if he was going to kidnap me. None of that mattered.
"My car's over here." He starts towards a small truck. I slide into the passenger seat and we head off in silence. Neither of us attempted small talk. I only whispered the directions to my apartment until we got there.
"Well this is you."
"Yup."
"Do you want me to come in a install it for you? I don't want you to waste a trip if you know what I mean." I nod. He smiles at me as he climbs out of the car.
I let him in and show him to the spot that I had planned on doing it. He takes the rope and after a few minute it was hanging from the ceiling, good as new. He climbs off of the table and places his hands on his hips clearly out of breath.
"Do you want some water?" I ask. He nods and I head into the kitchen and pour some water for him. When I come back I find him in the exact same place.
"Thanks. I've been on my feet all day." He starts, I give him a small nod, "I don't think I ever caught your name?"
"Louis." Harry nods at me and sets the water glass on the table. He smiles at me.
"Louis, nice name," He pauses for a moment before continuing, "Are you really planning on leaving right before Christmas?" He asks. It was right before Christmas wasn't it? He had a point. Did I want to leave my family right before the holidays? No, I couldn't let him talk me out of this. I had planned it to today and it will happen today.
"I didn't mean to. It just worked out that way."
"My family doesn't invite me to Christmas anymore. After they found out I was gay the cards stopped coming and so did the invitations. It's fine though, me and my dog have a wonderful time watching Christmas movies...alone." I felt bad for the man. When I came out I had nothing but kindness from my family. I couldn't imagine what being shunned for it was like.
"That's...terrible."
"Yeah, but I make it work. What I would give for someone to hang with, but I have no friends. Just me and my dog."
"Yep."
"If you don't mind postponing your plans you could come to dinner with me tomorrow night. I mean I have nobody to hang out with anyway. I'll even pay for you. A free meal. How does that sound?" He smiled at me, encouraging me to say yes. I hated letting people down. He was all alone. I hesitate not wanting to answer.
"It's fine, it was a silly question. You're really busy. I'll just go home. To my dog. Who's lonely too. But he won't be for long because I'll be there. Then it'll be the two of us. All alone." He tries, heading towards the door. I felt my morals bubble to the surface.
"Fine. One night." He smiles at me and brings me into his arms.
"You won't regret it!"

Hey guys! So what did you think? This was actually based off of a Buzzfeed video I watched a while back and thought it would be cool to do. The video is in the media if you want to watch it! This one is a little longer. Breaking 1500 I think. Other then that thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed! ~B
