chapter twenty:// first sigh
Ritika's POV.
Crawling toward you when dream comes, it seems so entrancing. Mending my heart, this actuality registered in my brain. He had put this effort for me.! The thought itself gave such beauteous intuition.
But everything contains scar, exactly like the moon also hold blemish with it. Because perfection wasn't something exist in this world.
"Stop staring at the food. It's getting cold, Ritika. Hurry up." I snapped out of my thought at Abeeg's voice. There was a rational chagrin in his recondite voice. But I was helpless. This food looked like some dirt. Tasteless, saltless, oil less, everything less. Any human who had a single appetite for food, I was sure it would be hard to see this, let alone eat. And here I was one of those who lived for food.
So tell me what can I do? "It's yuck, Abeeg."
"Your favourite Suhana Aunty said it to eat. Not me. It is good for you. Please."
In response I just pouted, pleading from eyes I mumbled, " it will burn my stomach. 100 and over 50 percent sure."
He narrowed his eyes. Then took a mouthful spoon and gulped without hesitation. "It's OK. Stop being drama Queen. And finish it quickly. "
When I still remained silent, he gave up. "OK you don't have to eat it. I had worked a lot to make this soup. Thought it would be good for you. But never mind." He was starting to take the plate, but I couldn't let that to happen, right? He had made it. Even heaven couldn't hold that gratitude, as much as I was. But Fenugreek, Peppermint, Bitter Gourd!. Are they even food? And moreover without any condiment, Allah knows how it would taste. But seems like I didn't have any other option.
Sighing I took the spoon and without my permission it entered in my mouth. Let me tell you. I just wanted to find the near washroom for puke. But here he was grinning like, he just won an Oscar.
"Stop smiling like a fool" Seriously? What a irrational lie it was! The only thing he was looking 'breathtaking'. Like I could lost in his deep eyes, which was showing so much emotion. Cheesy as it was. But I really felt so.
"You didn't notice." He amused. It was not question. Neither it was answer. I narrowed my eyes, confused.
"You are using the same spoon that I just used. " he whispered, closing the distance between us and my breath caught. "Not that I mind, you know?" This time his voice was low but enough to hear. He returned to his first place. Hammering some song, or tune. But I didn't hear. I couldn't. Because the only thing I was hearing my heartbeat. It was so loud, I afraid him to hear. That heart which hadn't respond this much in my whole history of life. Which could be dead by anytime, without even giving any explanation.
But it was hard to tell now.... Hearing the sound It didn't seem so.
I just blushed would be an understatement. From the head to toe I was on flame. The room was suddenly heated up and that was not related to any kind of weather thing. The way he said, it meant more thing. It was much more intense.
Breaking the silent of room, Abeeg was the first one, who spoke of. "Hey Mahi, what's that?"
Ok . I thought this was the time to close the bubble of love. I looked at the sight where his gaze was. Mahi was with a cooking gown. Exhausted but still looking beautiful. Wearing a shy smile she was standing there. The thing he was indicated before, was may be the tray she was holding. I finally got to know what it was, When she put the tray before us, she baked a cake.
"Oh my God. You made pineapple cake." A cheerful voice approach beside me.
"Yeah.... Just. Would you like to taste? You loved it, right?" I had heart problem. Not eye sight. So it was easy to recognize the slight blush reflecting from her cheeks."
Abeeg sweetly smiled. Then looked at me while I was just staring at the cake. So he loved pineapple. "What are you staring at? You won't get any share. " How mean! I looked away, being as shameless as he was, laughed. Laughed at me!. But when I glanced at him, my anger melt away. There was sparks in his eyes, like the smell of summer.
"Hey, what are you doing guys?.... What's it? Omg cake? Who made it?" Shan giggled like a baby. As usually, with loose fitted tee shirt and half pants, At first he waslooking as grumpy as a cat. But the cake really lighted up his mind.
"What cake?" This time another devil approached, Neil almost ran hearing about food, soon followed by Somu. This guys. Crazy about food. To be truth they were delirious for food.
Let me tell you, soon the whole dinning room filled up with loud screams, seeming some warfare. They were fighting like animals. There was a thing named courtesy. You know, right? But this guys, they didn't know.
"I think they are hungry. I should call the chef. " Abeeg said with a smile. Giving a sigh away, I replied, "yeah please. They just ran away from zoo. So obviously" In reply Abeeg broke a fist of laughter. With a musical sound.
But all the happiness took a vacancy as soon as my eyes hold on Mahi. She was standing there looking at those fightening boys, and obviously glancing at the boy beside me. It was as clear as sun light that she made that cake only for Abeeg, but seems like he didn't even notice that.
"Now, stop looking at them. Finish your soup. Quick." I looked at him, shocked. All this while he was noticing this! By the look on my face, I didn't know what he understood. But he sighed.
"OK. Fine. I will accompany you. Let's start." He took another mouthful spoon, after gulping he offered the rest toward me.
This was it. There have to be a solution for this. He deserved better. He deserved the softness of cake, not the bitterness of this tasteless soup. He deserted the winter song, the midnight fog, the morning breeze.
Not the darkness of life.
