Alice leaned forward and placed her arms on the desk. She looked into his wrinkled blue eyes, pausing as she thought about it. Was she ready to talk about it? All of it? Was she ready to let go of everything she had held inside for so long. It would be unnatural to open up to someone. To tell someone else the secrets that weren't hers alone. Could she do it? Should she do it?

She looked down at his neat and tidy desk. So organized. Everything was put in its proper place. Funny, she thought. Real life was never that clean. It was full of unorganized chaos. A landslide of actions and consequences. It was consumed by love, lies, truths, friendships, and heartbreaks. She took in the man before-- dressed in a white doctor's jacket. Not a wrinkle or crease to be seen. His balding hair was thinning out in the back. Was that his biggest concern? He sat calm and patient. His steady eyes never left hers.
