John's POV

I quietly slip into electrical, noticing James is in there. Perfect.

"Hey James!" I call out, heading over to where he was fiddling with wires. A glint of light reflects of his bright white suit. If he was imposter he'd never get away with it.

"Oh, hey John!" Hey replies cheerily. Always such a cinnamon roll. Almost makes this hard.

"Anyone else in here?" I ask cautiously. I pull out my tablet, watching the blank screen. 

He turns from the task and smiles at me. "No, that's why I'm so glad you're here."

"Ah James..." I whisper, hutting the button to lock the electrical doors, "Sorry 'bout that."

He looks at me confused for a second before I tuck the tablet back in my pocket and pull out the knife. I do it quickly, trying not to look into his eyes. A bit of blood splattered onto my suit. Gotta wash that off.

I quickly hop into the vent and pull out my tablet once more. 1 gone, 8 more to go. I work fast I suppose. I wonder if I could get someone else before it gets spotted.

I quickly crawl along the vents, and check security. No one is there or around. I jump out, and stroll out like nothing happened. 

I walk across the hallway quickly, spotting a flash of dark green. A smile spreads across my face. 

I run up to Alex and throw my arms over hum, hugging him from behiend. 

"Hey Alex," I whisper in his ear. 

"Jesus John you scared me," He whispers and I laugh. He pulls his hands away from the panel.  "Can you come watch me do scan?"

"'Course." I plant a small kiss on his cheek.

He drags me over to MedBay, passing Angelica in the Upper Engine. I patiently watch him do the scan.

He finally steps off the scanner and walks over to me. He cups my face in his hand and I lean into his touch. 

"Thank you," He murmurs, his eyes darting to my lips. 

"I'll never let anything happen to you," I whisper, our faces inching closer.

But then, all of a sudden, of course, the body alarm goes off.

"Damn," I mutter under my breath. 

"Let's go," Alex whispers, placing a brief kiss on my lips, then taking my hand and dragging me to Caf.

Everyone except James was gathered around the table. Thomas looked quite distraught, I'm taking it he found the body. It almost made me feel guilty.

Almost.

"Where did you find the body?" Burr asked, somehow remaining calm.

"Uh, Electrical." Thomas mumbles slowly. 

There was a few seconds of silence before Herc pipes up.

"Sorry to say this but I did see Peggy hanging around that area."

There was a stunned silence. 

"It wasn't me!" She shouts but people have already started sheep-ing and saying they saw her too.

I say nothing. I feel so bad, I can't let her take the fall for my actions. But I have to.

I end up skipping. I'm the only one who does. Everyone else voted for her.

Obviously she was not the imposter.

Everyone resumes their tasks. I take my revenge on Herc in the corner of O2. No way would he get away with that. 

I mull around for a but in Caf, faking a task, before walking down towards storage. But as I pass admin I hear voices. Very distinct voices that I recognise.

I quietly peep around the doorframe. It's Alex... and Eliza. Eliza has Alex pinned against the wall, both of them flushing bright red.

I feel my fists clench. No way.

I duck back, thinking of what to do.

Hearing footsteps coming towards me, I run back behiend those boxes in storage. Eliza walks out, seemingly happy. Well, not for long. 

I follow behiend her as she goes into Nav. I creep in and behind my back I lock the doors. 

"Hey Eliza..." I whisper and she turns towards me.

I walk closer to her, one hand behiend my back. As soon as I'm close I put a hand over her mouth and push her against the wall.

"Stay away from Alex." I hiss then whoops, in goes the knife. I have a good feeling about this. I run from Nav, quickly all the way over to MedBay.

I stop, panting. Maybe I could manage another before a body gets found. Oh this is really fun.

And just my luck it is that the alarm suddenly goes off. 

I sigh and walk over to the table, taking my place next to Alex. He slips a hand into mine, eying Eliza's empty spot.

Herc and Eliza were missing. 

In the end, none has any conclusive evidence. The worrying thing is Thomas blamed me, but had no proof so everyone skipped instead.

As everyone dispersed, Thomas came up to me. "You did it, " he hisses, "I just know you did."

I give him a pitying smile. "Lets go talk in admin, ok?"

He follows me in.

"You did it." He says.

I pause before changing the subject. "You must miss James, huh?"

He hesitates for a second.

"A lot." He whispers.

"Well, do me a favour." I lock the doors. "Say hi to him for me."

I treasure the look of surprise and horror on his face as I stab him. He tumbles backwards. 

I vent out to Comms and sabotage the lights quickly so we're in the dark. It makes things easier. I make my way along to the lights with everyone. As soon as they're back on the body alarm goes off.

I groan. Can they not take a day off?

I make my way to the table, honestly not caring at this point. Until someone says "I saw Alex walk by admin."

I whip my head towards Laf, and he looks down.

Alex immediately starts shouting his defence. "I was going from Caf to Electrical, I didn't go in admin!"

"I don't know, seems pretty sus to me." Angelica says. 

I panic as everyone agrees. I can't do this. Voting opens in 3 seconds, oh god, time to do something.

"Wait!" I cry. Everyone stops and turns towards me. I take a smalls shaky breath. "Alex isn't the imposter." 

Pause.

"I am. Don't vote him it was me. I'm the one who killed James, and Eliza, and Herc and Thomas. It was me, please." I beg. 

"How do we know you're not lying?" Washington asks.

I hesitate before pulling out my knife and slamming it on the table. It still has blood dried on it. 

Everyone gasps. 

I close my eyes  as everyone votes.

Alex turns towards me. I open them slowly. 

"John..." He whispers. He looks deep into my eyes, then reaches towards my cheek.

"I'll never let anything happen to you," I murmur and suddenly he desperately presses his lips to mine. Tears flow from his eyes. It only lasts a few seconds before I'm pulled off of him. 

Everyone voted for me.

But, I don't feel bad as I'm crammed in the air lock. I don't feel guilty still. I feel no remorse for anything. 

I smile softly through the window at Alex.

But then someone pulls the lever. 

And everything goes dark.
