John blinked a few times, his fingers relaxed unintentionally on the trigger. "W-What...?" The words tumbled out of his mouth. To say this is not what he had expected would be an understatement. He was beyond shocked. Comprehending as memories came back to him. The gun quivered in his hands.

"I love you..." Alexander repeated shakily. His eyes darted down before meeting John's again. He hardly seemed there. His eyes were glazed over, his breaths shakily and tears filling his eyes. Alex had never seen John so vulnerable. He winced at the sound of the gun hitting the floor. 

John seemed to be jolted back into the present. He looked back at Alex. He seemed to be lost for words. He opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. 

Alex cautiously and carefully took a slow step towards him, only to be met by John taking a small stumbling step back.

"I love you." He said again. John shook his head.

Alex nodded and took another step. He reached out a hand towards him. John flinched slightly.

"Please..." Alex whispered. He gently reached again and cupped John's cheek. 

He smiled softly up at the villain, eyes sparkling. Then their lips were pressed passionately together, unsure of who kissed who. 

John was fully aware of the situation, and certain this was probably a trap. The voiced kept screaming this at him, yet he pushed it away and kissed back.
