Chapter 1

Laurens was sitting outside it was fall and the leaves were turning orange. The days were getting colder, and it was getting high winds. He had been shot in the arm during an argument with a enemy and George Washington made him sit out for now. He was hoping his friends came back unharmed and safe. Alexander Hamilton had tried so hard to get John Laurens back but George only shook his head. Laurens knew Alex had a strong passion into sticking what he believes in. That's what he liked about his friend Alex. John sat alone. His brown hair in a ponytail ruffling in the wind. His blue eyes looked around. He then heard a familiar voice. That had to be Alex's! He got up ignoring the sharp pain he felt as he moved him arm.

"Did you see how I shot that guy?" Alexander smugly smiled to Lafayette. Lafayette only hummed a response.

Mulligan nodded, "That was amazing!" He looked around but then stopped at  and John Laurens freckled face. "John! You should've been there..."

John ran and hugged Alexander. "Thank god you guys are safe." He squeezed tight then let go. Alexander felt a light blush on his cheeks.

"Why wouldn't we be safe? We're awesome at battle!" Alexander closed his eyes for a second and let a cheeky grin. John backed away.

"I almost got shot! If Lafayette hadn't pushed me out the way I would've..." mulligan shuddered.

Lafayette grinned slightly, "Bien sûr, je vous sauverais. tu es mon ami."

John looked away still smiling softly, "I wish I was there."

Alexander gave a sigh. "We all did! But George Washington didn't allow you. You have to recover. Now come on, let's get you to our tent. Could you walk?"

John gave a fusterated groan, "It wasn't my legs that got shot!"

"Fair point..I was only asking." Alexander crossed his arms.

John realized he had  just yelled at his friend. "I-I'm sorry Alex. It's just that there's a lot on my mind." He faked smile.

Lafayette and Mulligan were a little shock John had snapped at Alex. They knew John liked Alex. I mean, they're all only 22. Alex nodded, "We would all be grouchy if we missed our battle."

John muttered a thanks. He was honestly tired and all he could think about was getting rest. Once they arrived at the tent, he collapsed on a blanket almost hurting his arm.

"We'll be back." Mulligan and Lafayette told Alex and Laurens. "We're going to go get some bread to eat." Alex nodded.

John huddled on the blanket and felt a warm body press against him. It was Alexander.  "A-Alex?"

"Shhh." Alex shushed him. "It's a rather cold night. I'll keep you warm." John was to tired to argue therefore he couldn't argue with him so he shut his mouth. He rested his head on Alexander's shoulder. He was freezing. Alex wrapped his arms around John. "Is this better?"

John blushed and nodded. Alex was hugging him. He felt his breath stop but then began breathing. This was as close as he ever to been to Alex. John felt the urge to hug back so he did. "Is this better?" He smirked.

Alex blushed slightly and nodded. "Mm." And soon enough, they both fell asleep in each other's arms. Or did they?

John woke up to see Alex gone from his side. He frowned slightly. Had Alex ditched him? He glanced at his shoulder gingerly. It was bleeding! He was about to panic when Alex came back with bandages, water and a loaf of bread. "Im going to ..ah.. clean your cut, okay? I want to see you back in battles instead of feeling bad for yourself." John smiled. This was the Alex he knew. The one that never gives up. He sat up and crossed his legs letting Alex see his wounded shoulder.  He took out the bandage that had been bled through and replaced it with a clean one. He got a wet rag and cleaned the dirt off it so it won't cause infections.  He handed John water and the loaf. "You gotta eat." Alex said through a muffled voice as he had the bandage roll in his mouth.

John shook his head. "You got to eat. I'm not hungry..." he offered the bread to Alex. Alex pushed his hands back.

"No John. Eat!" He demanded. John felt his cheeks burn up. He nodded and took a hesitantly bite out of it. He chewed slowly. Finally  Alexander had finished wrapping the wound and stepped back. "Well. You're almost healing." Alexander sighed. He walked over to the exit of the tent and turned around to face John. "See you. We got to go..." he trailed off as he saw John got up weakly.

"Don't leave!" John pleaded reaching for his wrist to hold him back but failed.

Alexander bit his lip.  "I-I got to. We have to go fight for freedom. Remember? Im not throwing away my shot!" He said briskly leaving the tent.

John looked down at this wound. "I'm pathetic!" He growled. He looked around the tent. There was a gun. He reached for it but let a hiss of pain as he felt his wound burn. He ignored the pain and finally got the shot gun. "Hmm. This'll show em." His blue eyes darted to the exit. He got up and staggered towards the exit. And I'm not throwing away my shot either. He heard an explosion. John gasped. That scared the hell outta him. He thought of going back but he was determined to show Alex he's not worthless. Lafayette caught sight of him.

"Cover me!" He mouthed to Hamilton and Mulligan. They gave a curt nod and began firing their gun. Lafayette ran to John. "Are you insane? Go back!"

"No way! I'm not worthless! I'm not pathetic! I'm not stupid!" He screamed. He pushed Lafayette out of the way and continued staggering to the coverage where Hamilton and Mulligan were. Lafayette widened his eyes and ran in front of him.

"We don't think you're worthless? Who told you that?" Lafayette reached for the gun in Laurens hand but Laurens quickly moved it away from him.

"Me! I want to help. You're not my father!" He glared at Lafayette. Tears started streaming down his cheeks. He raised his gun at Lafayette, his finger on the trigger.

Lafayette put his hands up flinching. He's bluffing. "Come on John. If you go out there it's a suicide." He whispered. "I don't want to lose you.  je t'aime . Vous êtes le meilleur ami que j'ai jamais eu.You're hurting... here. Give me the gun..." he put his hand out in front of John. John closed his eyes. He let go and let the gun fall to the floor. He wiped his tears.

"Come on! We need you out here Lafayette!" Hamilton called out.

"Coming.." he called back. He turned to John. John was sobbing. He hugged John softly. "Go back to the tent.. we'll win this fight. You'll have another shot. Nous nous soucions de vous." John nodded. He stumbled back to the tent. He carefully sat down sighing.  He really wanted to be with his friends in the fight. He'd die for them anytime. He didn't know if they'd do the same.

It had been sometime before the gang came back. He heard Alexander's soft voice, Lafayette's French accent, and Mulligan's tough voice. John felt foolish, He felt ashamed. Alexander entered first. Followed by Lafayette and Mulligan. John looked away at them, his eyebrows furrowed. Alex sat next to him. "Lafayette told me what happened. John! You could've been killed! You're.."

"Say it!" John snapped. "That I'm weak. That I deserve to go home." John glared at Alexander.

Lafayette whistled and then turned to Mulligan. Then to Alexander. "We're gonna go... outside." But John knew that they just wanted to leave this awkward situation.

"No... you're hurt and--"

John interrupted him. "Hurt? You're just like the rest of them. It's another way of saying I'm weak. Save it Alexander! Just leave." He gulped that last part. Alexander got up and dipped his head respectfully. He left. John felt warm tears run out of his eyes. His burryed his face into the pillow sobbing uncontrollably. What have I done? Soon, he fell asleep. He had just cried himself to sleep.

"Réveillez-vous sleepy head." John opened his eyes blinking them to adjust to the light. His vision focused on Lafayette.

"What're you doing here?" John sat up.

Lafayette smiled. "I came back. We came back." John just hummed a response. "How did last night go?"

John growled, "it's not like you care."

Lafayette continued smiling. "Ah, but I do." He sat closer to him. "So?" He prompted John.

John spoke at a low voice, "You want to know how I feel? Betrayed. How could you tell Alexander  I left the tent!" His voice grew louder.

"Shh." He hushed him. "Alex had to know! You know he cares about you."

"No he doesn't!" Laurens retorted. "He doesn't give a damn about me." He began sobbing.

Lafayette hugged him. "Calm..calm down. I know Alex like the back of my hand, he cares about you."

John felt like his words were being forced out. "If he does , he'd be here with me. Instead of going on a stupid war and leaving me here alone."

Alexander walked into the tent. "Great news! We won the war and they retrieved. We can go home now." Mulligan followed closely behind Alex.

John gasped. "You won the war without me!?"

Alexander huffed. "We had to. I'm sorry my dear John Laurens."

Lafayette felt bad for Laurens. John nodded fake smiling. "Congrats." He tried so hard not to let tears stream down.

Alexander looked at John's wound. The open wound was now a scar. It would never be the same. But it stopped bleeding and that's a good thing. "You should be fine." He removed the bandage.

John gasped. "Finally!" He got up and flailed his arm and it didn't hurt anymore. He hugged Alex. "Thank you..." he murmured.

Alexander blushed. "Its my pleasure." He said rubbing the back of his neck. John let go and ran outside. He felt free now. Alex, Mulligan, Lafayette followed behind. "We can go now!" Alex smiled.

It was time for the ball. Alexander decided to go and so did Lafayette and Mulligan. Lafayette insisted that John should go. John gave in and went. As he walked through he saw Alexander dancing with a women. He felt his heart break as he heard their conversation.

"You strike me, as a woman who has never been satisfied." He twirled the women. The women narrowed her eyes.

"I'm not sure what you mean. You forget yourself."

Alexander nervously grinned. "You're like me. I'm never satisfied."

John narrowed his eyes. He felt his heart breaking piece by piece. Then what the fuck am I!

"Is that right?" The woman flirted.

That woman is stupid! She's gonna get played. John let a growl.

"I have never been satisfied." Alexander continued.

"My name is Angelica Schuyler."

John gasped. A Schuyler sister?!

"Alexander Hamilton.." he kissed her hand kneeling.

John had enough. He pushed himself out of the crowd, tears forming in his eyes. Lafayette had noticed John. So he followed John. John was now crying. He sat outside on the steps. "J-john?"

"Leave me alone!" He yelled.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Lafayette stared at him.

"A-Alexander... h-he... is dancing with another person!" He cried out.

"There, there." He hugged John.

"And I'm so stupid! I let him take advantage of me and he stabs me in the back!" John wailed.

"What do you mean?" Lafayette asked confused.

"I let him ... I let him... I let him have my heart, feelings and he back stabs  me! I hate him! I hate myself! This hurts more than my wound." He screamed it all out. "I'm a fool!"

"Don't say that about yourself! You know it's not true."

"We had an affair the night before!" He admitted. "He told me he loved me. He lied. He's right. He'll never be satisfied."
