Proposal

Day five! I'm very happy I got this prompt now, as some established LadyNoir is very welcome in this series, hope you all enjoy! -Colorado

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Four years. It had been four years since Ladybug had run up to Chat Noir and kissed him on the Eiffel Tower. Four years since she told him that she loved him and she was tired of pretending that she didn't. Four years since she made all of his dreams come true. The past four years have been the best of his entire life. Knowing that his lady was truly his and he was truly hers was a beautiful feeling. He loved her, all parts of her. Her beauty, strength, and kindness, but he also loved her stubbornness, was always there to calm her anxieties, and tried to talk her out of acting only on emotion. Being with Ladybug was a lot different than his 14-year-old self thought it would be. But now, at the ripe age of 22, Chat Noir knew he wouldn't have it any other way.

"What are you thinking about?" Ladybug drawled, her voice snapping him out of his thoughts.

"Just how much I love you, Bugaboo." He leaned down to place a kiss on her nose.

The two of them were out on a date night that turned into cuddling on the beams of the Eiffel Tower. Ladybug was laying on his lap, arms wrapping around his neck as she leaned her head against his chest.

"Flirt," she murmured lazily, closing her eyes.

"Your flirt, though." He grinned, he wasn't sure how someone could ever be this beautiful.

"Of course, mon chaton, I wouldn't have it any other way." One of her hands reached up to scratch him behind his ear, and a quick purr escaped him. He got Ladybug to laugh though, so perhaps the embarrassment from purring was worth it. "I love you, too." She whispered into the night, making his heart go catatonic.

One would think that after being with her for four years, Chat Noir would be used to hearing those words out of her mouth. But no, after four years his heart still skipped a beat whenever she admitted her love for him.

"I'm not sure how I got so lucky with you, My Lady. I thought you were supposed to be the lucky one," he teased.

Ladybug opened her eyes, giving a soft smile that made his heart leap. "I am the lucky one."

"Perhaps we're both lucky," he whispered, coming down to kiss her.

"I think we are," she whispered back, meeting his lips half way.

The two broke apart wearing matching grins. Ladybug gave him a small kiss to his forehead, making him swoon.

"I can't believe all I have to do is kiss you and you turn bright red," she laughed.

"Can you blame me? The most beautiful woman in the world is kissing me." He relished in the way her cheeks went warm. "See look, you fluster easily too, bugaboo."

"Oh you be quiet, or I won't kiss you anymore," she threatened, going back to leaning her head on his chest.

"You wouldn't!" Chat Noir gasped, placing a hand on his heart as if he were wounded.

"Don't test your luck, chaton." She winked at him, a large grin on her face.

Oh how he loved nights like this, Ladybug in his arms, the two of them in their own little worlds. What he wouldn't give to have every night like this. What he wouldn't give to be Ladybug's final goodnight and first good morning. He loved her so much it hurt, as if he was sick and she was the only medicine who could heal him. He wanted to... to spend the rest of his life with her.

He stiffened at the realization.

"Chat?" The near-sleeping beauty in his arms asked, "you alright?"

"Just fine, My Lady, everything's fantastic." He glanced down at her, her blue eyes twinkling as a smile spread across her lips. She nodded and closed her eyes again.

Everything was more than just fantastic! He just realized he wanted to marry her! Of course, he had always fantasized about their wedding as a teenager, but now it was actually in the realm of possibility. They were adults, they had been dating for years, had a permanent hotel room at Grand Paris thanks to Andre, it could work! But there was just one minor (major) issue.

They still didn't know each other's identities.

Once Ladybug had told him about Chat Blanc and what he told her, Chat Noir stopped asking to reveal their identities. It would come in time, even if that time wasn't now. . But he wanted to marry her! And as much as he adored what he and Ladybug had, he didn't think either of them would want to get married before they revealed their identities. Still, there was nothing saying that he couldn't propose before they revealed their identities.

But would she even say yes? He glanced down at Ladybug, her eyes closed and a content smile on her face.

"You know that I love you, right?" He whispered.

"Of course, you've only been telling me you do for the past eight years," Ladybug laughed.

"And you know that I can't live without you, right?"

"I can't live without you either. You're my favorite person in the entire world, Chat Noir."

"And that... when the time comes, what we have, I want it to last for the rest of our lives." He said carefully, watching as her eyes flew open in shock. He nearly panicked before she gave him a blinding grin, pulling his head down for a long kiss.

"Me too." She said pulling away. "I want this to last for the rest of our lives too."

"I swear as soon as we get the butterfly miraculous back...." He wasn't quite sure what the end of the sentence promised, but he knew that Ladybug understood.

"We'll get our happily ever after." She finished for him, letting all of the implications sink in.

"Yeah." He placed a small kiss on the top of her head. Little did she know that their happily ever after may begin sooner than she thought. A grin came over his face, making sure Ladybug had closed her eyes so he couldn't see his obvious excitement.

He was going to propose and he never did things half way. An idea had cemented in his mind, and oh, how he couldn't wait.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The past three weeks had been some of the most nerve-wracking weeks he'd ever experienced. Keeping things from Ladybug was always hard, but keeping this monumental secret from her was pur torture. He wanted to scream to the world that he was going to propose, but he couldn't! He couldn't even tell Nino! Or anyone in his civilian life, for that matter. The only one he could really freak out to was Plagg and Plagg was well, Plagg. He was a tea kettle nearly reaching its boiling point, and he was about to let out a screech.

But, thankfully, the day had arrived.

He knew that Ladybug had probably caught on that he was planning something, but, with any luck, she wouldn't have figured him out completely. Ladybug had seemed more distracted lately, too. He caught her staring at him sometimes, a wishful look on her face. Other times she looked at him as if he were a lucky charm she had just figured out. He wasn't quite sure what was going on, but he knew he trusted his Lady with everything.

So, when on a very innocent Friday they showed up to their joint patrol with matching bouquets, Chat Noir only laughed. They really were soulmates, even planning their surprises on the very same night.

"Fancy meeting you here, My Lady." He placed a kiss on her hands, giving her the bouquet of red roses.

"I could say the same to you, mon chaton. It looks like great minds think alike." She gave him an identical bouquet.

"Just another sign that we're made for each other." He winked and she laughed, giving his bell a playful ring.

"I suppose so. Shall we patrol?" She smiled at him, but there was something about her smile that seemed off. Nervous.

"We shall." He hoped he was hiding his nerves well, it was time for his planning to come to fruition.

He knew they finished up each and every patrol by stopping at the Eiffel Tower. Normally they sat on one of the beams as they cuddled, but tonight Ladybug would find a different scene. Chat Noir had grabbed pillows, pastries, and candles to create the perfect spot for a proposal. The fact it would be where she first confessed her love for him made it all the sweeter. At least, that was the idea.

He watched as Ladybug leapt over rooftops, a smile playing on his lips. She looked so beautiful in the moonlight, Chat Noir couldn't believe he got to see the sight every night. Hopefully he'd continue to see her bathed in the moonlight for the rest of his life. That all started tonight.

Making sure Ladybug wasn't paying attention, he patted his suit pocket where the ring was. He had picked out a pink diamond (pink was her favorite color after all), surrounded by smaller diamonds. He hoped she loved it. It had cost a pretty penny, but he didn't care. He'd much rather spend his wealth on making others happy than on his own wants.

"You okay, Chat?" Ladybug called to him, noticing he had stopped.

"Just fine, My Love, I thought I saw a stray cat, but it must've been a trick of the light." He gave her two thumbs up, plastering a smile on his face that he hoped said "I'm okay" more than it said "I'm nervous because I'm about to propose."

It must have looked more like the former, because Ladybug simply nodded and continued to take off. He let out a sigh of relief, thank God she hadn't noticed his pockets. There would be time to worry about the proposal later, right now, he had to join his lady.

He took out his staff and quickly caught up to her. She was moving much slower tonight than usual, and she was biting on her lip. She was distracted about something, Chat realized. If only he knew what. Hopefully it wasn't anything disastrous, he needed this proposal to go perfectly!

"Are you doing okay, My Lady?" He asked, running beside her.

"I'm doing fine, kitty-cat." She gave him a grin that didn't quite convince him, but oh well. "I'm just a little tired, that's all."

Chat Noir nodded in understanding. She had been picking up more shifts at her day job, for whatever reason, so it makes sense that she was tired.

"Not too tired for patrol, I hope?"

'Or too tired for a proposal?'

"I'm never too tired to spend time with you, chaton." Her smile was so sweet that Chat could've died right there and died happy. God how he loved her.

He had been so caught up in Ladybug, he hadn't noticed the part of town they were in. Not until he heard the bells of Notre Dame go off. He blinked, they were right by Marinette's. That's odd, they didn't normally patrol in this part of town. He looked back over at Ladybug to clarify, but the words died in his throat as he met her eyes. A steely determination was on her face as she walked over to him, grabbing his hand.

"Come on, I have a surprise for you," she murmured, leading him over to a light glow. Chat Noir followed her lead, just like he always did.

A gasp escaped him as he realized where they were going. A rooftop he hadn't been to in many years, candles sitting on the railings, petals decorating the floor, a table with pastries from the Dupain-Cheng's sitting on a table with two chairs on either side.

"Ladybug..." he looked around the roof as the two landed, taking everything in, "I don't even know where to begin."

"I hope it's okay," she fidgeted with her hands, "I wanted to recreate the night you first confessed your love to me. The first time you brought me here."

He nodded, not trusting himself to speak as Ladybug led him to one of the chairs.

"This is amazing, Ladybug," he saw her shoulders sag in relief, although she hadn't stopped fidgeting, "but why?"

"Why?"

"Yeah, I mean, I didn't think it was a special occasion." Except for the fact he was planning on proposing, but she wasn't supposed to know that! It was good he had the foresight to buy pastries that could be left out, because it seemed like they may be here for a while.

"Well um, there's just something that I wanted to do for a long time now. And I wanted to make it special for you, and I decided there was no time like the present, so..." Ladybug took a deep breath, grasping Chat Noir's hands in her own.

He was so confused, what was going on? Why had Ladybug been acting so weird? Why did she set this up? Not that he was complaining, but he had plans for tonight! Plans that were incredibly important because more than anything he wanted to marry Ladybug and-.

She was down on one knee.

Her hands shook as she pulled out her yo-yo, and grabbed a small velvet box from its compartment.

What?

"Chat Noir," she began, a nervous smile on her face and her cheeks a beautiful color of pink, "you have been my partner for the past eight years. For the past four you have been my absolute everything. I love you with everything I have in me."

What?

"I love your kindness," she continued, "your selflessness, and yes, even your humor. I love how you always know what I need and I love being able to support you through good and bad. Your partnership, both romantic and not, means the world to me. And I want that partnership to last our entire lives. I know we haven't revealed our identities yet, and I'm more than happy to wait for you, but I need you to know that I want this to last forever."

What?

"I want us to support each other through not just good and bad, but sickness and health." Tears welled up in her eyes and it was only then he realized he was crying. Was this really happening?

"Mon chaton, my precious partner, will you marry me?" She opened the box, holding a gorgeous black ring with emeralds encrusted into the band, and looked up at him with a watery smile.

He let out a sob, collapsing on the ground with her, his hands flying up to pull her close. Everything in him screamed to tell her "YES!!!!" but what actually came out was:

"I can't believe you beat me to it!" Chat cried, he couldn't stop smiling. He never wanted to stop smiling. Ladybug let out a laugh, returning his hug joyfully.

"Well, you snooze, you lose, chaton."

"No, Ladybug, you don't understand." He pulled back from her, placing his hands on her shoulders. "Do you trust me?"

"With my life." She nodded. He stood up, extending his hand out to her.

"Follow me then. I promise you're going to laugh."

"Okay...?" She took his hand, the ring falling limply by her side. He saw the anxiety on her face and realized he never technically answered her question.

"Trust me, it'll all make sense soon. Can I see that?" He asked for the box, and Ladybug shyly handed it over.

"I mean, it's yours, isn't it?"

Chat Noir couldn't contain his goofy grin.

"Come on, bugaboo." He pulled her into his arms bridal style, all too fitting for the occasion, and leapt off.

He hurried to the Eiffel Tower, knowing she was probably stewing in anxiety. It was only once he got there that he realized he left their bouquets back on the rooftop. Oh well, he could always go back and get it later.

She let out a gasp as his set-up came into view.

"Like I said earlier, Ladybug," he sat her down on the platform, thankful that everything was as he left it, "great minds think alike."

Tears began to fall from her eyes as her gloved hand covered her mouth.

"We really are made for each other, My Love." He whispered, getting down on one knee himself and finally pulling out the ring.

She let out a sob.

"I-."

"Yes!" She cried, legs giving out and collapsing on top of him.

"You didn't even let me say my speech!" Chat Noir cried in indignation, but he was smiling so widely it hurt.

"Sorry, sorry," she laughed, "tell me your speech, kitty."

"I love you, Ladybug, and I always have. With every passing day, with every new thing I learn about you, I only love you more. The nights I spend with you mean everything to me. I want to spend each and every night with you, for the rest of our lives. I truly believe that you're my soulmate, My Lady, and I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life with my soulmate. Will you marry me?" He grinned as she nodded frantically, tears pouring down her face.

Chat Noir kissed her, slipping the ring on her finger. He was laughing and crying and smiling and he never wanted the night to end.

"Will you marry me?" Ladybug asked again, "you never answered me before."

"Yes! Absolutely! I'd marry you a thousand times over." He nodded frantically against her, pulling out his own ring and letting her place it on his finger.

"I love you." Ladybug sniffed.

"I love you, too." Chat Noir kissed the top of her head, leading her over to the pillows.

"I can't believe we proposed on the same night." She laughed, getting settled as he laid his head in her lap.

"Like I said, we're made for each other."

"Yeah," Ladybug tangled her hands in his hair, and he began to purr. He didn't even care, relaxing in the presence of his fiancé (his fiancé!). "We really are. Although, I do need to eventually go back to the rooftop and clean everything up."

"Thirty minutes here, thirty minutes there? I'd hate for your hard work to go to waste."

"Sounds perfect." Ladybug leaned down, giving him another quick peck.

"Best proposal ever." Chat Noir grinned. Ladybug snorted.

"It'll be one hell of a wedding story."

And in two years, when Marinette and Adrien finally found themselves at the altar, it was one hell of a wedding story.

This has got to be one of the fluffiest things I've ever written, but I love it. Thanks for reading! -Colorado
