ALWAYS THE SAME.

There are those that view the two as synonymous; a co-dependent relationship of morality intertwined with vengeance. There are those that view the law as the only true definition of right, a righteous block of rules they seem to often forget are man made. While others acknowledge that laws made by men aren't always going to be an equal to the truth of justice.

     Imari King had nothing except her will to bring the true justice to light in spite of what law may say. The eyes of the world have always been susceptible to prejudice and ignorance alike. Damning whoever may fit the narrative they wanted no matter if innocence had to pay in the place of the truly guilty. She wanted to make a difference ━ defend the innocent accused of guilt and those that made unfortunate choices due to unfortunate circumstances.

     She is a woman built of ambition. The one who meets challenge as if it's a gift. Who stares at war with a grin knowing her blades are sharper than the dull prick of their knives.

     Imari understood from the moment that she was exposed to the realities of the world that she had to use that yearning to fight for those that couldn't.

     The title of Criminal Defense Attorney and her steel-plated words are the only weapons that she needed. She didn't need the technicalities and lies ━ only herself.

     That is until she met Jasper Foster. He had done what no other had yet to accomplish ━ he unnerved her. A man accused of extinguishing more than one life, painted with heinous red by those who accused him. Jasper was by all means a man formed of evil to have committed those murders. Yet Imari could not discredit the way he looked at her, an unfairness that settled deep inside his eyes. He took a part of her in his hands the first day she met him, and she has yet to ask for it back, yet to believe that the same hands had been stained with the blood of four people.

     Imari King is no fool.

     No quick believer in taking words at face value.

     Anyone can scream "I'M INNOCENT!"

     Anyone can profess a lie as if it's God's honest truth.

     That's what he tells her. He didn't need to peer into her soul to see that Imari is an unrelenting woman of determination. He knew he was more out to win a fight with a solid brick wall than her.

     Spencer Reid could use all the vast amounts of knowledge he had stored away. He could use every ounce of his own stubborn will to pry against her own.

     But Imari couldn't abandon Jasper. She couldn't ignore how he called out to her ━ lady justice, he spoke, like a man pleading to his saints to be saved from damnation.

⚖️ i'm super excited to dive into this fic— imari so easily became a favorite and i've been DYING to use lupita as an fc for long so this is truly a win-win situation. yes, this is ANOTHER fic that i have become insanely attached to and promise to actually write ( the promise of a the world we made update soon is glaring at me 🌚 i promise she hasn't been abandoned!! ).

⚖️ anyways...if you hadn't noticed imari ( pronounced ih – mar – ree ) is very passionate about her job as a criminal defense attorney. now, there is going to be a lot of moral complexities within this story and its characters; there's a lot of different views on lawyers ( some people hate them, viciously lmao ), but i am really excited to explore the many sides to imari and her profession. and of course the nice little contradiction of my fbi agent loverboy helplessly falling in love with the quote on quote enemy. now, obviously there are going to be some differences in opinions when it comes to people who work in such opposing professions BUT that is an important part of this story. it's very necessary for these differences to exist for the events to play out! i am literally dying to explore all of this.
