Little Boy Blue's newest guitarist

Author's note: I am so sorry for not posting. As you know, I traveled during the whole month of January and when I came back I had only a week at home before traveling again to see the stones live - it was AMAZING, first row by the way - and then I spent one week there and when I arrived I had tests. I finished writing this chapter before but it looked awful so started all over again, and it looks better now. Hope you like it, and as always tell me if there's something wrong, I'm Brazilian.

I woke up early today, went downstairs and made some hot chocolate. I'm going to Carousel club again this morning but I just thought it wasn't a good idea to have sundae and fries as breakfast.

I got my cup of chocolate and turned on the TV. I was skipping the channels looking for something good, when suddenly the doorbell rings. Who could it be so early? I got up and opened the door.

Keith.

-Keith? What are you doing here? It's too early to go to Carousel...

-Yeah, I know, I just... I shouldn't have come, I don't know what I was thinking of.

-No! I just found it strange. Isn't it cold outside? - he nodded - wait right there. I will get a blanket and stay there with you.

When I got the blanket in my room I ran back downstairs and put the rest of the hot chocolate in another cup, then went outside.

-Sorry if I took too long. I brought hot chocolate.

-You didn't need to... I'm bothering you.

-No, you're not!

We sat down in the porch stairs and shared the blanket.

-So?

Keith gulped and smiled.

-Something happened a few minutes ago and I needed to tell it to someone.

-What was it?

-I called Dick today, when I woke up. I told him I knew his band's vocalist since I was a kid and that I met him again. I said that we went to Carousel yesterday and that he invited me to go there again today and meet his friends.

-And?

-And... He asked if I wanted to join the band.

-REALLY? This is awesome, Keith! And what did you answer?

-I said I was going to think about it but I would be really happy to be in it.

We stayed quiet for a few seconds drinking our hot chocolates.

-Sorry for asking but, why did you come here to tell me about it?

-I was so happy and I didn't know who to talk with. It may sounds stupid but my only friend is Dick. Mike also is now, I guess, but you know, he is already in the band. And moreover he lives far from here by foot.

-No problem, you can talk to me whenever you want.

-Thank you. To be honest, I always wanted to be in Dick's band but he never invited me and I'm too shy to ask. It meant a lot to me.

-I understand. But look, now you're in the band!

-Not exactly. I mean he didn't even talk with the rest of the band yet. And my answer wasn't definitive. I didn't want to look desperate to get in. But of course I want it.

-You will get in.

-They will probably discuss about it today. If they do, please, act like you didn't know about it.

-I'll do it.

-I better go... - He got up - You're still in your pajamas, you should go get ready to go. I'll pick you up at 9:30.

I nodded and got up.

-By the way, can I ask you something?

-Of course.

-What happened between you and Mike?

-What? That in the kitchen? We already said, nothing happened. We just dropped a glass of water and he was helping me to get dried.

-Are you sure? It looked like...

-I'm sure.

-Good to know.

I washed the cups before my dad wakes up and started to get ready.

It didn't take too long until Keith rings the doorbell. Dick came with him, as we agreed.
I had already told my father I was going to Carousel. He didn't like the idea but didn't insist against it a lot.

-Dick, this is Jane, the girl I told you about.

-Hi - He shook my hand as he talked - I'm Dick Taylor.

-Jane Parker.

We got the taxi and arrived soon. Michael and the other two boys were already there. They were all sitting in a table close to the window. They hadn't ordered anything, They must be waiting for us.

-Good Morning. - Michael said with a smile on his face, getting up - welcome back to Carousel.
He hugged Dick, Keith and then me.

-Keith, Jane, these are Bob Beckwith and Allen Ertherington. They are from Little Boy Blue and The Blue Boys.

-Hi - Keith and I said as we sat.

-Good morning, boys - James said - ... and girl. It's good to see you again, miss... Jane, right? - I nodded - I assume you liked Carousel.

-I did - I smiled.

-It isn't free for you today, okay? - Mike, Keith and I laughed - So... Double sundae and fries for everyone?

-I just want a milkshake - i said - Strawberry.
Michael and Keith ordered the same.

-So... You two like blues too? - Allen asked us.

-Yes - Keith answered.

-Mick told us your tastes are very similar to his.

-Sorry, who? - I asked.

-Mick...

-Oh... That. - Michael said - Yeah, now I'm Mick.

-Mick? That's weird.

-Only my family calls me Mike now. For everyone else I'm Mick.

-Mick Jagger. It sounds cool I guess - Keith chuckled - But I'll need some time to get used to it.

-You two will have too much time to get used to it - Michael smiled - I mean, you will walk with us now. Won't you?

-Keith will. - Dick said - especially because I invited him to join the band.

We all stayed quiet.

-Seriously? - "Mick" looked surprised.

-I hope you don't get mad. I know I should have talked to you all before but I thought you would like it. He has the perfect music taste.

-Of course I don't get mad! It sounds perfect!

-If you were his friend already, why you never told us about him? - Bob asked Dick.

-I don't know, he is like the biggest rock n' roller in the college. I never thought he would like to be in a amateur blues band like ours.

-And would he?

Everyone was staring at Keith, when James arrived with the orders, and put them on the table, what made the silence even longer.

-I said I was going to think about it.

-Ah, come on, Keith.

-Ok. I'm in.

We finished our ice creams and stayed there talking until 12:30. Michael suggested a band rehearsal today, at his house, the first with Keith. The boys needed to go to their houses and get their instruments. But I... I didn't need anything.

-Why don't you come with me to my house then? - Michael asked me - We can wait for them. I'm sure they won't take too long.

-I don't know... I'm not even in the band.

-But I want you there.

We arrived in the beautiful Newlands.

-Mom! The Boys are coming for a band's rehearsal! - Michael shouted when we got in.

-Ok! - She comes out of the kitchen and sees me - Oh... Hello!

-Hi, Mrs. Jagger.

-It's nice to see you! Mike was right, you look even more beautiful now!

I blushed. I see Michael did too.

-Okay, mom, we are going upstairs.

-When you two get hungry, the food is in the kitchen.

-Ok.

-When will the boys arrive?

-Soon, I guess.

-You are here to watch them? - I nodded - Have you seen Mike singing?

-Hm, no. I saw him dancing - I laughed.

-It's very unique, isn't it? I remember when he was about 4 and started to jump like this and shake his hips listening to the radio. We all here found it so funny. We had never seen something like that before. I didn't yet.

-Me neither - I smiled, Mike looked ashamed.

-About the vocals, his tries to sound american are extremely funny. You have to see it.

-Mom! We are going upstairs now.

-Ok, I'm going out. I have to work today. Have fun!!

Michael and I went to his room, and he showed me his records. It was amazing. Buddy Holly, Muddy Waters, Little Richard, Bo Diddley. So many others.

-Choose one - he told me.

I picked a Chuck Berry one again - "Berry is on Top". There was a record player in the living room as well. Michael suggested that we should have lunch now, before they arrive.

I got the plates and cutlery as Michael got the food and served it to us.

We ate as we listened to the record. When we finished, he put the "B" side to play. We went to the kitchen to leave the plates there and i turned on the tap to clean it.

-No! You don't have to do it!

-Come on, Michael. It's just a plate and a glass.
He smiled and started to clean his own.

-Maybe now I can have the chance to spill water on you again. - I blushed.

We were laughing and having fun so we ended up washing the rest of the dishes.

-Do you really think my dance moves are unique? - he asked me suddenly as we were washing the last plates.

-Yeah, of course! I never saw something like what you did yesterday at the car park.

That moment, the song that was playing ended and it started to play "Round and Round".

-I love this song! - I said.

-Come on - he put the plate on the countertop - let's learn some of my unique dance moves.

-What?

-Don't be shy. We are alone here.

I didn't even say if i wanted or not when he placed his hands on my waist.

Oh it sounds so sweet
I gotta take me a chance
Rose out of my seat
I just had to dance
Started movin' my feet
Well a clappin' my hands"

This song isn't slow as well, and Michael was so enthusiastic that I couldn't follow him. It was fun.

In the guitar solos, he followed with his dance solos. In the last solo, he pulled me closer and danced it with me - even though I had no idea what I was doing.

We stopped dancing when the next song started - "Hey Pedro".

-So... Am I a good teacher? - He laughed.

-Absolutely - I said a little ironically.

When the song ended, another one started.

-"Blues for Hawaiians". - I said - Is it right?

-Yeah. - he said and got closer.

He held my waist once again and started to dance. Slow dance, this time.

-You know, this song reminds me of something - he said as he softly moved his hands on my waist - There is gonna be a film on the cinema next month called Blue Hawaii. An Elvis movie.

-Oh, really?

-Really. - he bit his lips - so... er... I thought that maybe you would like to watch it with me?
I gasped.

-You mean with Keith and the boys?

-No. I mean you and me. - I blushed -I'm sorry, it's Ok if you don't want to.

-No, I... I think it would be nice.

-Seriously? - he smiled.

... When suddenly the door opens.

-Holy crap, why do I ALWAYS arrive in the wrong time?

-Keith?! God, this is embarrassing.

-No, THIS is. I'm always interrupting.

-No, you're not! But by the way, don't you ring the doorbell before getting in people's houses?

-I did! Twice. But no one answered. I could hear Berry music out loud so it was obvious that you were in. Then I heard some noises from the kitchen, so...

-Damn, you're right. I'm so sorry, Keith. We must have not heard it because of the loud music.

-No, I am sorry.

We sat on the sofa at the living room, and Keith asked Michael to play the "A" side of the record. He agreed and then we stayed quiet as Keith followed some riffs with his guitar - the ones he knew.

It didn't take too long until Dick arrive, and then Bob and Allen.

We went to the garage and they started to play, as I watched. In the beginning, it didn't sound that good - specially because Keith didn't follow them perfectly - but then it started to sound better and better.

I wouldn't say they sounded professional or something like that. But they really got something.

-I told you Mike sounded funny, didn't I? - Mrs. Jagger asked me as she clapped her hands. She arrived a few minutes ago and watched the rest of the performance.

He really did, actually. But Michael was amazing, I must admit. He didn't just sing the lyrics, he felt them. I couldn't explain if he sounded like a cute teenage boy or a hard working american man. Probably both.

And his moves... We could feel the music just by watching his performance. I swear to God I never saw anything like that in my whole life. It's not something we usually see in our silver screen TVs.

-Now come on, guys! There is some lemonade for you in the kitchen! You all must be thirsty - she added.

They really do. They were all sweaty - specially Michael, who jumped and danced during the whole time.

We went to the kitchen and there was a lemonade jar on the table. Everyone got a glass of it.

-It's so nice to see you again, Keith.

-Thanks, Mrs. Jagger. It's nice to see you too!

She got out of the kitchen and left us alone.

-We never sounded so good - Dick said as he drank his lemonade.

-Keith was what we needed! - Allen added.

-We must celebrate!

-And here we go again - Bob rolled his eyes.

-For you two that haven't seen him for years... You should know by now that Mick thinks that everything deserves a party.

-Little Boy Blue's Newest Guitarist is clearly something that deserves a party. - he argued.

-Will you really make a party because of me?

-Of course - Michael said. - Next Friday night. We can go to London.
