Ladybug tried to hide her smile as Alya shook her shoulders.
"Why didn't you tell me about this, LB?" She practically shrieked.
"We're telling you about it now." Adrien piped up from Alya's bed.
"You need to be quiet, Agreste. I have a bone to pick with you, too. I can excuse Ladybug not telling me, but you're one of my closest friends!" Alya feigned hurt.
"I didn't tell Nino either." He argued.
"We haven't told anyone, Alya. Not even Chat Noir knows." Ladybug told her. "But, Adrien and I have been talking, and we decided it was about time to take things public."
"And we want the Ladyblog to be the one who posts the news." Adrien went to stand by his girlfriend, squeezing her hand.
"S-seriously?" Alya gasped, her eyes lighting up. "But wait, Chat Noir doesn't know? Are you sure an interview is the best way to tell him?"
"I'm planning on talking to him on patrol tonight." Ladybug explained. "So the video won't go live until tomorrow morning, if that's okay?"
"Are you kidding me? This is the scoop of the century!" Alya cheered. Both Ladybug and Adrien exhaled sighs of relief.
They had been dating for three months now, but had kept things as quiet as they could. Both of them were A-list celebrities in Paris, not to mention one was a literal superhero. Ladybug didn't want to risk Adrien falling into Hawkmoth's clutches. Adrien didn't want to risk Ladybug falling into his "fans" clutches.
But when at the last gala they couldn't even risk a dance, they both had decided enough was enough. Ladybug had seen Adrien in enough attacks to know that he could hold his own and Ladybug didn't have social media, so she didn't have to deal with fans reaching her that way.
Once they had decided to take the information public, there was no question who was going to announce it.
"So, does that mean you're up for it?" Adrien asked.
""Are you kidding? I wouldn't be the Ladyblogger if I gave up this opportunity. Nino would be a better blogger than me." She laughed.
"Please, don't do that. I love Nino to death, but he cannot write." Adrien begged her.
"No worries, I'm taking the interview." Alya turned back into her room, sorting through things on a cluttered desk. "Come on, where did I-? Ah, here it is." She held up a tape recorder and turned back to the couple. "So, going public? What's your grand plan?" She grinned, and Ladybug and Adrien immediately felt at ease.
"Well, you see...."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ladybug and Adrien Agreste, Paris' hot new celebrity couple! You heard it here first, folks." Alya's voice rang out through Alix's phone. The entire class was huddled around the desk, needing to confirm the news for themselves.
Adrien pushed open the classroom door, allowing Marinette to enter in after him. The classroom, which he had heard chattering not 5 seconds before, suddenly fell silent. Half of his classmates gave him dirty glares, the other half just stared at Marinette.
"What?" She asked, her normal radiant smile on her face.
"Have you, uh, not seen it yet?" Rose asked, biting her nails.
"Seen what?"
"My newest video." Alya shot her a half-hearted grin and Marinette's eyes widened in recognition.
"Oh. You mean about Adrien and Ladybug?"
The class sucked in a harsh breath, looking between Adrien to Marinette to Adrien to Marinette. Needless to say he was very confused about the whole thing. The tension was thick enough to be cut by a knife, and he had no idea how it got there or how to fix it.
"Yeah, I've seen it. I'm happy for them, you've liked her for a long time, right?" Marinette's eyes sparkled with amusement. There was something in her smile, something that seemed a little off. Almost like she was laughing at a joke only they knew. Except, he definitely didn't know the joke.
"Yeah." He nervously rubbed his neck, suddenly uncomfortable with the amount of eyes that were on him.
"So don't worry about me, guys! I'm just glad that my best friend is happy." Marinette gave the class one of her 100 euro smiles.
"So it's true!" Chloe shrieked in outrage. "Adrikins! How could you date someone like... her?" Chloe wrinkled her nose. "She has such a strong sense of justice! Such a goody two-shoes."
"I know." He sighed dreamily, his heart already missing his spotted wonder.
"You're not supposed to be dating her! How did you two even get together in the first place?" Chloe huffed, stepping apart from the crowd.
"Were you even paying attention?" Alya rolled her eyes. "They literally explain how it happened."
"Shut up, Cesaire." Chloe turned away from her. "This isn't about you. It's about Adrikins."
"Chloe, I'm not your Adrikins. It's about time you accepted that." Adrien turned away from his childhood best friend, sliding into his desk.
Marinette gave him a supportive smile as she got into her seat. Adrien happily gave her one back.
"I can't believe it. Adrikins and Ladybug, what a joke. He's supposed to be with me." Chloe grumbled as the class slowly got into their own seats.
Although, he was surprised about the amount of glares he was getting. He hadn't gotten looks this dirty since the whole gum incident with Marinette. Rose had even come up to hug Marinette, and offer her words of comfort.
Adrien wasn't exactly sure what had happened with his classmate, but he made a note to ask about it later. If Marinette was hurting, he wanted to be there to help her. Maybe she would appreciate some flowers, or a card.
Only Alya seemed to be treating her like normal. She offered Marinette a wink, and scheming grin. To which Marinette returned with an eye roll and a grin of her own.
Adrien smiled at the scene. Hopefully whatever was upsetting Marinette, it wasn't anything serious.
"Adrien..." A voice purred. Adrien felt needles run up his spine, and not in a good way.
"What do you need, Lila?" He sighed, already exhausted simply by her presence.
"You're dating Ladybug, now." She frowned, sighing into her hand.
"Yeah, and?" Adrien rubbed his temples.
"Well, it's just... no. I shouldn't say anything, you two seem happy! And maybe she's changed since...." Lila trailed off, her eyes becoming distant.
"Changed since what?" Nino, poor gullible Nino, asked, his face immediately turning into a look of concern.
"No, I really don't want to start any drama." Lila bit her lip, putting on a fake look of worry.
For some reason, Adrien didn't believe her.
"You won't start any drama, Lila. We'll be here to support you, no matter what!" Nino put a hand on her shoulder, missing the glares his girlfriend was shooting him.
"Thank you Nino, you always know how to comfort someone." Lila sniffed fake sadness away, squeezing Nino's hand. "Ladybug and I used to be best friends, but when I tried to tell people this she claimed I was lying. I tried to apologize to her, but she wouldn't listen to me! I even asked if we could try to be friends again, and she was the liar. She said 'yes' only to stab me in the back a week later and claim we had never known each other at all!"
As much as Adrien disapproved of Lila's habits, he had to give her props. She was a fantastic actress. The lone fake tear falling down her blotchy face would have been enough to make anyone believe her. At least, anyone who didn't know of her dirty tricks.
"Oh no, what a shame." Marinette spoke up, and Adrien could see Lila's eyes flashed with anger. "You know Lila, have you ever considered she was lying about your friendship to protect you? After all, she had to do that with Adrien's relationship for so long."
"Finally claiming that I'm not lying, Marinette?" Lila let out a giggle that made Adrien shudder. "I guess people really can change."
"Whether I believe you or not is besides the point. I've given up trying to tell you to do the right thing, Lila. It's not worth my energy frankly." Marinette shrugged, glaring at Lila. "But if you and Ladybug were actually friends, she was probably lying about it to protect you."
Alya nodded along in agreement.
"She mentioned something like that to me. That if she were to ever form friendships with a civilian, it would be top secret. She cares about people too much to risk Hawkmoth getting them, even if it means that she has to lie. She said she would 'rather hurt their feelings than risk them losing their lives in a fight that's not even theirs.'" Alya gave Lila a sweet grin, too sweet for Alya's face. "So I bet she was just trying to protect you!"
Seeing that the fight was lost, Lila wiped her fake tears away and gave them a bright smile. Too bright for it to be real, if you were to ask Adrien.
"I bet you're right! I shouldn't have assumed. I wish you and Ladybug the best." Lila turned with a flip of her hair, and turned away.
Adrien exhaled a sigh of relief now that the thorn in his side was gone. He was afraid that Lila and Chloe's outraged reactions were only the beginning. It was the price of being famous. Having millions of fans that thought they would be better. He just hoped that Ladybug didn't have to put up with too much today.
Behind him, Marinette laughed at something Alya had whispered in her ear. Adrien smiled, he was glad that at least Marinette was having a good day.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ladybug had never wished she could reach through the screen and strangle someone more. She had expected the reaction to her and Adrien's relationship to be... not the best, but she hadn't expected this. The mountain of comments angry at Adrien for not being Chat Noir, or not being the commenter was too much for Ladybug to handle.
"I can't believe they have the gall to talk about you like that!" Ladybug huffed as Adrien reassured her for the hundredth time that it wasn't a big deal.
"Seriously, LB, I had been expecting this. I knew that the majority of people who frequent Alya's blog are die hard fans of you and Chat Noir being a couple. And I am definitely not Chat Noir, so it's no wonder why people are so upset." Adrien muttered, scrolling through the comments underneath Alya's latest video.
Ladybug felt her rage direct itself towards Adrien. How could he not realize how messed up this was? How could he not be upset? Was he that much of a masochist?
"But they're judging you without knowing you! How do they know that Chat would be a better match for me? They don't know us. They don't know how we interact or how much we lo-like! How much we like each other." Ladybug blushed, praying that Adrien wouldn't notice her slip up.
"I know, but I have my own legion of fans. There's very little reasoning that can get through to these types of people. It's better to just ignore them. Besides, they don't know that you've been rejecting Chat Noir for little old me." Adrien fluttered his eyelashes at her, shooting her a grin. She felt her anger momentarily disperse. He was so cute, and he was hers.
"Yeah, but still! They can't judge our relationship unless they know what it's like. And they obviously don't. I mean, half of these comments believe that I'm only with you for the money, the other half believes you're only with me for the publicity." Ladybug scoffed. "As if you don't get enough publicity on your own! And I've been saving Paris on the daily for God knows how long. Yet, apparently I'm a shallow gold digger who's only in it for the money."
"I know, LB. But hey! We have some support." Adrien highlighted a couple of comments. "'Idk what everyone is so mad about, they seem happy together.' 'Awww! So cute!' 'Y'all gotta remember these are real people. Some of these comments are disgusting. Ladybug and Adrien, if you see this, I wish you the best of luck!' 'Lmao the amount of angry LadyNoir fans in the comments. Stay mad. Love you, LB! Glad you're with someone who makes you happy.'" Adrien read, scrolling to find more.
"Good Lord, it's already a train wreck and we haven't even checked Twitter yet." Ladybug shook her head.
"This is just the angry fans I've got to deal with. My so-called stans are 100 times worse." Adrien shuddered, thinking about all of the times he had been chased down in the city.
"Good thing I have a mask to hide behind, and superpowers to get away if it becomes bad enough." Ladybug winked, enjoying Adrien's wheeze way too much. Even after three months of dating, it was hard to believe that she could make him combust with just one wink. "However," her voice turned serious. "You don't. are you sure you're going to be, okay?"
"We've talked about this, Love Bug." Adrien grabbed her hand, and placed a small kiss on it. "I'll be fine. I can handle crazy people. Besides, while I might not have a mask, they certainly do." He gestured towards his computer. "That's their mask. Only a fraction of a percent would say things like this to my face, and an even smaller amount would actually get the opportunity to. I'm going to be fine, Ladybug. Okay? Believe me. I've got you, there's no amount of hate comments that is going to make me regret my decision." He promised her.
"Aw, Adrien." Ladybug felt like crying. She didn't, of course, but if the boy in front of her kept it up, she certainly would.
"I'm serious! I lo-care about you, okay? And I know that you care about me. People on the internet are not going to change that." Adrien placed a small kiss on the bridge of her nose.
"You're going to kill me." Ladybug rasped, her face growing hot.
"I'm your boyfriend, it's my job." He winked. Adrien Agreste, actually had the nerve to wink at her.
"You know what we should do?" Ladybug needed to change the subject before she melted into a pile of goo.
"What?"
"We should check Twitter." A diabolical grin stretched out over her face.
"Ladybug, no. You were the one who said to stay far away from it." Adrien grabbed her shoulders, shaking her lightly.
"It'll be fine. Besides, I'm tired of looking at hate comments dealing with Chat Noir. I wanna see if we're trending!" Ladybug grabbed the mouse from Adrien, opening up a new tab and signing into Twitter.
As the had expected (and feared) Adrien was trending at #2, with Ladybug beating him out for the #1 spot.
"Are you sure you're ready to see this dumpster fire?" Adrien asked Ladybug, one last time. She stood firm in her decision.
"Bring. It. On." She glared at the computer screen, a confident smile on her face. Adrien nodded and clicked on his name first.
There were a lot of tweets that were just talking about the news. More tweets were simple screenshots of the interview's different moments with a caption like "Ladybug and Adrien Agreste in the Ladyblog's newest video!" Ladybug was impressed, it actually took them a solid minute to get to the reaction tweets.
"'This is why we don't ship real people, y'all. Because they never end up with who we want them to end up with.' '#Adrien Agreste is dating #Ladybug???? My day is ruined.' 'Bruh, is no one else concerned about how they met?' 'I gave in and watched the interview. The way #Ladybug kept cutting #Adrien Agreste off is actually really concerning. It seems manipulative and like he's being gaslit to me.' What the hell?" Adrien rubbed his eyes, as if making sure he was seeing things properly.
Ladybug laughed. They had been cutting each other off throughout the entire interview, but not with malice. There were just certain parts of the story that Ladybug had to interject to put in her own two cents. Adrien did it just as much, but his "fans" weren't going to see it that way.
"'#Ladrien is really cute guys. Let's get it trending.' '#Ladybug and #Adrien Agreste is the couple we didn't know we needed.' 'I've watched the #Ladrien interview so much I can recite it by heart. Please tell me why I'm so invested in their love life.' '#Ladrien I love that ship name so much!! Them>>>' 'Hot take: #Ladrien is better than #Ladynoir.'" Adrien hissed at the amount of comments the post had.
"See, it's not as bad as we thought it would be." Ladybug glanced over at Adrien, who gave her a shpeeish smile.
"I may or may not have looked up Ladrien positivity while you were laughing at the negative comments."
"Adrien!" Ladybug playfully scolded.
"What? Just go on your account and look up what people are saying on your own time. I really don't want to look at comment after comment claiming that my girlfriend is a master manipulator." Adrien snorted.
"Can you imagine that headline? 'Paris' savior turned supervillain?'" Ladybug held up her fist, pretending it was a microphone in her best news reporter voice.
"Don't worry, whoever makes accusations that crazy is simply jealous. I bet they were just trying to start up drama." Adrien stood up from the chair, stretching to pop his back.
"What are you doing?" Ladybug smirked as Adrien put his hands around her waist.
"I've had enough of being a celebrity for one day." He sighed, resting his forehead on her shoulder. "I just want to be a normal couple for an hour. Just one hour of peace, that's all I ask."
"Dork." Ladybug cooed, rubbing her hands through his hair.
They flopped down on his bed, Ladybug cuddling up to his chest. They had done this a million times, but everything seemed so new and bright. Everything seemed hopeful. Ladybug watched as Adrien's eyes closed and his breathing evened out. She resisted the urge to squeal. A sleeping Adrien was an adorable one.
"Adrien! Get out here this instant!" Gabriel Agreste's voice boomed as he knocked frantically on the door. Adrien groaned.
"Apparently, one hour is too much." He grumbled.
"Come on, Hot Stuff." Ladybug helped him up.
"We need to talk about your relationship with Mlle. Ladybug and what it means for your publicity!" His father continued.
"Amazing." Adrien huffed.
The price of being a celebrity never left you alone. Not even for an hour to catch some shut eye whilst cuddling your girlfriend. How inconsiderate.

I hope you guys liked this one! Experimenting with the social media comments was definitely my favorite part of writing this. It's always nice to write something a bit lighter! -Colorado
