Chapter Three

I went over to his house very early in the morning, the next day. Being someone who doesn't go without a fight, I'd researched on the internet and tried out making different styles of laddoos, the whole night.

"Huh?" He asked me sleepily, when he opened the door.

"I-uh, I am here for the competition." I said.

"Oh, that. I'd totally forgotten." He said sleepily, as if such a thing was not even worthy enough to be remembered. He led me in.

"No matter how much you reel me, I will be unfazed." I said fiercely.

But I was so wrong, because in a few minutes I regretted that I got into a competition with him, regretted ever taking up laddoos to his place the first time, and regretted my entire life. He gave me a paper with a precise set of instructions. While I busy trying so hard with batter all over me, and the aroma of hot oil embedded on my dress, he did everything as if it wasn't a big deal at all. He played a game of Clash of Clans, talked to his sister on Skype, cleaned his house (although it was very clean according to my standards), made himself some breakfast, all the while making laddoos.

What was I thinking? How could I win against a sous chef? This was a sure defeat, but I had to keep playing, just like the last thirty seconds of football.

"Where is the sugar, idiot?" I yelled from his kitchen as he was watching Naruto in the hall. He'd long finished making them and laid them out nicely.

"Second shelf, glass container." He shouted.

"Don' t yell." I yelled.

I took out the beautiful glass container and admired its beauty, but suddenly I spotted a red ant on it and I shook it way. CRRRRAASSSH.

He came running the moment he heard the sound. I desperately tried gathering the glass from the ground. He took my hands and stopped me. "You'll cut your hands." He said , and began gathering them with a sweep.

"I am so sorry, I'll pay for it. How much does it cost?" I asked him.

"Hmm. About thousand rupees."

What the hell? Was this a glass jar or a diamond jar? "It's a special edition." He explained.

"Something must be wrong in your head if you buy these expensive jars just to store sugar." I said.

He nodded."Who said I bought them? They were a gift for my cooking skills."

I rolled my eyes. "If only, these were gifts for being kind and nice to people, I would have gotten hundred of these."

In the end, I ended up getting sugar from my home. "Your sugar is too white" He said."You've got to choose sugar that is neither too white or too yellow." He added.

"Let me guess, you are single, right?" I asked him.

"Yes, I've never liked a girl sincerely before." He said, looking straight at me.

I snorted. "I think, the truth is the opposite. No girl can put up with you."

"Really?" He said, as if he couldn't believe it.

"Yeah, with all your probable OCDness. Also you are a very rude bastard. Every girl would get annoyed if all that comes from your mouth is 'your room is not clean, your clothes are everywhere etc' " I said.

"Agreed. But if I really like a girl, I won't expect anything from her. I'll do everything myself. Like cleaning the room, I mean."

Wow, that was surprisingly deep for a triangle face like him. My heart thumped. "Well, such a girl must be one of a kind on Earth"

"That rare, huh?" He sighed sadly.

This was my chance. I quickly elbowed both the plates of laddoos(both his and mine), into the sink.

"Oh no, the laddoos have fallen into the sink, they are ruined now! Guess the competition has to be called off" I said, faking sadness and tears.

Of course he was someone who could be fooled. "Why you little .." He ran towards me and I ran across the room and into my apartment and quickly closed the door.

My heart was thumping so fast, perhaps due to the running?
