6[JK]
The next morning, I got up at 0600 as usual. I know we were supposed to rest but I'm used to waking up this early. I decided to take a jog around the block to get some exercise in me.
Before leaving the house, I went to check on BamBam. I notice half of his body is hanging off the bed, and his mouth is wide open. I chuckle at the view.
BamBam has been my closest friend since high school. BamBam and I plan to join the military together but things have changed, and it was only me who was in the plane to Lathua. I didn't mind, but I know BamBam felt horrible, but I understood.
We kept in touch throughout the last five years. Every year on family week, he was the one to come. He has always been my only family.
I got out of my apartment, did a few stretches. After I was done, I plug my headphones in and start to jog. I did my usual route, half way done, I noticed a familiar petite figure with her hair in a ponytail. I froze for a second when our eyes connected. She was the first to look away, with an eye roll.
Her next move surprised me. She walked towards me with her brow furrow in anger and her strides towards me were fast and aggressive. When she was in front of me, she pull my headphone off my ear.
"What are you doing here?" She raises her voice. I open my mouth to reply. "Did my uncle bring you again?" She crosses her with an annoyed expression. "Geez that man. Since he can't come home, he has a comrade to stalk me." Her eyes flicker to me then down my body.
I notices her furrow brows relax a little. Her lips now twist to the side as if she was thinking about something.
In the middle of her thoughts, something she said to me just occurred to me. It was my turn to look at her with a confuse look.
"General Yang didn't come home at all?" I ask.
Her eyes snapped up towards me. She shook her head. "No but he did call and said we would have lunch." Her head tilts to the side, "You didn't know?" I shook my head. "Then why the hell are you at 6:30 am?"
I nervously rub the back of my neck, "I'm not use to sleeping in, so I decided to take a run."
Her mouth slightly open and nods her head in understanding. She gestures for me to run. "Well run along."
I smile and start to jog but stopped. "Why are you up so early?"
Her eyes widened at my question. "I usually wake up this early for a morning run." She explains.
I nod my head and start to jog leaving her. After a few minutes, I noticed she was close behind. I looked back and we both gave each other a puzzle look. She had her annoyed expression again, and picked up her pace, now she was in front of me.
I ignore the weird coincidence, and continue with my usual route. Which again is the same as Lisa. This has been my normal route for the last four years, and nobody really uses this route. Well at least not the exact same route.
How does she know this route?
She ran faster, which made me lose sight of her. Maybe that was for the best.
It was close to my resting point, near a hiking mountain by a river that people hardly goes. The river this early in the morning is quiet and peaceful. With the sun rising the scenery is beautiful. I sat down with heavy breath, closing my eyes, relaxing a little and enjoying the moment.
"Yah! What the hell are you doing here?"
My eyes pop open to the familiar voice. I look to my left and there stood Lisa. This time she didn't have annoyed expression, but her face was filled with anger. Her hands were on her hips, with her right foot tapping, waiting for my answer.
I hurriedly stood up, looking around as if I was dreaming. "This is my normal route to run."
She gave me a dirty look. "Nobody knows this route."
I know. That's why I take this route. I tell myself.
"What are you doing here?" I ask her.
"When I used to live here, this has always been my route."
She used to live here? That's strange. Well I know she is the General's niece, but unless he adopted her, there wasn't a reason for her to live here.
"How long have you been in the military?" Her question brought me out of my thoughts.
I clear my throat before answering, "Five years."
"Ahh I see." I tilt my head in confusion. "I last live her six years ago." We stood in front of each other in silence, not knowing what to say. "I guess we can share the route. I mean nobody has a real claim to it."
She took a drink from her water bottle and walk towards me. She pats my back as she passes me. "Enjoy the view comrade."
With that she starts to jog away, towards back to town. I look back at the river, with a heavy sign. This girl is barely doing anything and yet she is giving me headaches.
After a few moments, I jog back towards town. When I pass General Yang's home, I noticed his car out in front. For some reason it put a little ease in me. When I finally got into my apartment, BamBam was coming out of his bedroom yawning. He could barely open his eyes but he mumbles a good morning to me.
I laugh as I open the fridge and got orange juice out with two glass. I pour him a glass and one for me.
"Wants some eggs?" I ask him, as I got the pan out. He didn't say anything but I could sense him nodding.
After cooking and eating, BamBam was finally awake. He push the plate away from him.
"That was good. Thanks."
"No problem."
He took a sip of water, "So what's the plan for today?"
I shrug my shoulders, "I don't know. You have anything in mind?"
BamBam smirks as he leans on the table. I gave him a skeptical look.
"Well my friend, I heard they are having a firework show in the city tonight. Let's go."
I raise a brow, "The one that's honoring the soldiers?" He nods his head. "Why are you interested?"
He shakes his head and gives me a tsk. "Because they are honoring you. My best buddy! Why would I not attend a thing like that." Not believing him, I gave him a stern look. "And maybe because Taehyung told me there will be a lot of beautiful women there."
I gave him a smirk as I got his plate and placed them in the sink.
"Is that a yes?" He asks me.
I turn to him. "What time does it start?"
"The firework starts at 8 but the festival starts at 5:30."
I nod my head. "Yeah let's go."
