26[JK]
It's been an hour since Jiwon stepped into my house. We are the dinner she brought with her, and she would start a conversation here and there but I kept the conversation short.
Now we are here sitting my couch, I can see that she is waiting for something. I sign out in helplessly. I know Jiwon has been admired for some time, don't get me wrong she's beautiful and sweet but she isn't my type.
I smirk at the my inner thought of "my type". Do I even have a type?
"What's funny?" Jiwon asked me.
I shook my head. "Nothing." I answered her. My eyes went to the clock on my kitchen counter. It's close to midnight. "It's getting late Jiwon." I tell her.
Jiwon lips went into a frown, "Yeah...." her eyes went up to mine, "Well.. I suppose I should go." She stood up from my couch. I followed her movements. "This was nice. Do you think we could do this again?"
My eyes slightly widen at her question. I guess this was some kind of warm up test. Clearly she didn't feel the awkwardness that I felt, since she asked to do this again. I hate saying no, or making a girl sad. As I open my mouth to say anything, there was a knock on my door.
One, I was relieved. Two, I was also confuse who would be here this late hour.
"Are you expecting someone?" Jiwon ask. I shook my head as I walk towards my door.
I look through the peep whole, and was completely surprise to see Lisa there. I open the door with no hesitation. When we were face to face neither one of said anything at first.
She gave me this sheepish smile. "So... I think we should talk." I nod my head in agreement.
I been wanting to talk for awhile now. Explain my side of this whole thing. She smiles at my head nodding. She took a step towards me but then she froze as her eyes went pass my face. I turn around to see who she was looking at, and of course Jiwon was there. I forgot about her once I realized Lisa was at my door.
"Ummm....." I start.
"Hi nurse Lisa." Jiwon greet her with a smile.
Lisa smiles, "Comrade Jiwon." Her eyes went to me. Of course I didn't know what to do or say. "Maybe I should come at a different time. It's late and it would be inappropriate to be alone with a man at this hour." Even though Lisa was looking at me, I don't think she was really talking to me.
I felt Jiwon next to me. Well a little too close for my liking. "Thank you for tonight Jungkook. Dinner was good and please think about my question before we were interrupted." Jiwon voice was a little harsh with the last part.
"Ummmm...." again was the only thing that was coming out of my mouth.
Lisa hands came together in a clap, surprising me and Jiwon. "Well I guess we both should leave Jungkook alone."
Jiwon gave Lisa a force smile. "Yes I guess so."
Jiwon step away toward the outside. Both Lisa and Jiwon were looking at me with a smile. I force a smile to be nice. They both understood the awkward atmosphere, so they left with no other words.
It took me ten seconds to get out of my shock, to stop Lisa.
"Lisa wait!" Both Lisa and Jiwon turn to me with a confuse look. I run towards them and face Jiwon. "Jiwon tonight was fun. Thank you for accompany me as a friend." Then I turn to Lisa, "You came here to talk. We can talk for a few minutes and I'll drop you off at home. General Yang wouldn't like you coming home without an escort..— " Lisa opens her mouth to argue and I knew what she was going to say. "Yes you do not need a babysitter, bodyguard or to be looked over but since you came here, that's the least I could do." I step aside so Lisa can come to my apartment.
I let Jiwon leave with her stomping against the hard ground. I went to my apartment and let Lisa in. She looks around as if she was looking for something.
"So you and Jiwon?" She asks.
"We had dinner. That's all." I know I don't have to explain anything to her but I felt like we both needed it to be explained. Her lips that was puckered up as if she as mad, came to small smile. "Now, why are you here so late?"
Her eyes showed hesitation, but she took a deep breath. "Why didn't you tell me you knew my brother?"
Now it was my turn to take a deep breath. I shrug my shoulder, "I don't know." And that's really the truth. I don't know why I didn't tell her since I knew. "Maybe because of guilt."
She walk towards my couch to sit down. "Because my brother died because of you."
My lips thin out. "Because your brother chose to take my place. I fought my best to take my spot back, but he wanted to go." She wasn't looking at me but she was twirling her thumbs. "I wish I could change things. Really I do wish it."
She was now looking at me. "So my brother chose to leave me?"
She asked this before, but I didn't understand it all till now. She wanted to be angry me and blame me so she wouldn't face the fact that her brother chose to go. And to her it meant he wanted to leave her. But I knew that wasn't the case, but how do I convince her that.
I sat down next to her. "Your brother loved you." I can see her eyes watering.
"He spoke about me towards you?" She asked.
I nod my head. "He talked about you a lot. He said you two were best friends. He described you as a emotional person." She straightened up like she was offended, "In a good way. He said something like once you mad, the earth quakes, and when you were sad the world would flood. You did things with a passion." I chuckle at his description. "And so far, he wasn't wrong. You have shown me that you are strong will, independent and stubborn as your brother always talked about you."
She looks at me with more hopeful eyes. "You two were close?"
I nod my head. "I... I had a hard time making friends. I guess your brother noticed and took me under his wings. He helped me a lot with controlling my anger. We went to the gym a lot, worked out, taught me boxing and stuff."
Lisa eyes widens. "Did you two ever go to the old ballpark by the cemetery a mile past the lake?"
Nick and I played ball in the park she described till 3 am. We stopped because we accidentally hit the ball into the window of the cemetery keeper's shed. We ran for our lives that night. We both knew we would be dishonorable discharged if we got caught.
I laugh remembering that night.
"Yeah, we did." Lisa blush at my answer. I tilt my head. "Why?"
She stood up and shook my head. "It's time for me to go home."
I stood up as well. "Well let me get my keys—"
"No it's okay. I drove here." She interrupts me.
"But why didn't you say anything before?" I ask her.
She gave me a smirk, "When? When you spoke in front of Jiwon?" I nod my head. "Oh well I tried. But you wouldn't let me speak. You thought I was going to argue with you because of my independency but I wasn't. I was going to explain I have a car."
My lips went into an o shape. I slightly blush at my embarrassment. She walked toward my door about to leave but stop.
"Thank you Jungkook. Maybe we can start over?" She ask.
I nod my head enthusiastically. "Yes. Let's start over and we can really get to know each other."
She smiles brightly. "Perfect."
And with that she left.
