In Love With A No-Maj

~ Normal is subjective but I can't say I see this everyday. ~

It is highly stupid to think that rules and laws established among British wizards would be same as those among Americans.

Whereas British Ministries were more tolerant towards people with no magical ancestry or Muggles, the Americans deemed all such creatures, the No-Majs, as not worthy of their acquaintanceship.

When Queenie Goldstein had first met Jacob, she had had no idea that he would be the man for her. She had almost gotten used to men appreciating her for her beauty and just acknowledging the surface not bothering to look deeper. Being a Legilimens she was fully aware of the fact.

But Jacob Kowalski was more than just ordinary men she met on a regular basis. He was a No-Maj, and for her the idea was a bit thrilling. A Witch and a No-Maj.

The circumstances after their meeting had been a lot rushed. Due to the panic stricken MACUSA, the frenzy of unleashed creatures and out of control Obscurials, both of them hadn't really got to spend quality time with each other.

And after the problems were finally resolved, all the No-Majs were given a dose of Swooping Evil venom which was sure to get their memories rid of all the disaster caused that could easily expose the Wizarding World.

And obviously, not even Jacob was exempt from the No-Maj treatment. He hadn't wanted to forget his time in the magical world but Madam Picquery insisted on no exception.

It had been a whole year since she last saw the man who she had fallen in love with for his simplicity and also for his set goal of opening a bakery. Meeting someone as different as Jacob had been quite refreshing for her.

And now as she was walking down the streets which led to the Kowalski Bakers and Confectioners, she had one thought occupied on her mind.

Will he be able to recognize her or not?

She reached her destination; a cozy red painted shop with a decently sized display section visible through the glass window. In the display, she was quite amazed to see the shapes of the buns put up there.

Some were shaped like a Niffler, other like an Erumpent and all in all it was a fascinating display of edible yet miniature fantastic beasts.

A tiny smile took over her face. If he had remembered the creatures, there was fairly enough chance for him to have never forgotten her as well.

Taking a deep breath, she ruffled down her skirt and pushed open the door. The tinkle of the bell hanging by the door announced her entrance.

She spotted him arranging the pastries in the display section and soon as the bell had rung, he turned to see who had entered.

There was a moment's silence. Jacob looked as if he had just been struck by the flicker of a beautiful memory.

Seeing that, Queenie smiled realizing that he did remember her after all.

And she was glad of that fact. She was glad that they still had a chance with each other. Because normal is subjective but she couldn't say she saw people like Jacob everyday.

It was then the fact dawned upon her. Newt had told her that the Swooping Evil venom got rid of all the bad memories from human minds. He had never mentioned anything about the good ones.

And both Queenie and Jacob knew that their memories of each other had been far from bad... Or normal, for that instance.

Each time they had had with each other was the best and the most unique experience they could ever have. Not merely subjective in any sense whatsoever.
