Something rounded the corner in front and was looking right at me. A dragon. Not a cute and small lap-sized one like Jongho, a huge one that could kill buildings if it sat on them, let alone a human's lap. I freeze where I am, as the dragon saunters closer and closer.
Every single bit of info I had read or came across about dragons flutters through my mind, but as I vaguely recall, none of those had relayed any information on how to get away from one if necessary. Probably they thought no idiot would even think about getting close to an untamed creature. Well done, geniuses. I owe my death to you.
At that moment, something does spring to mind. A piece of useless knowledge. Jongho's breed is known as applespines, due to the ridges on their backs looking like overturned apples. That fact was confirmed true, with some persuasion.
The next entry, blightshadow, had been very vague with its description. There wasn't a comprehensive guide on it, due to one simple reason. This particular breed of dragon lives in hell itself, and no one had ever expected to see one, of course, unless you wanted to die trying. But now, I was seeing one in the exact opposite of its homeland.
Slowly, I backed off down a side street, waiting until I was fully out of sight before bolting down the alley. If Jongho's smoke rings felt like soaking in a hot spa in summer, I'd hate to know what it feels like to be burnt to a crisp. Oversized bacon is what I'd become.
I don't hear anything behind me and conclude that the dragon must be too big to fit. Gleefully, I follow the path all the way through... only to bump into the dragon again. It had taken a shortcut by flying overhead. Flattening myself against the wall, I close my eyes and resign myself to my fate.
"Hongjoong, I'm sorry. I know I said I'd come back..."
I await the blast of flames, but surprisingly, all I feel is the huge force of something squishy. Slowly, I peer through half opened eyelids to notice the dragon with its face pressed against my body, its own body laid on its side as it purrs with content.
"H-hey buddy," I pet its huge head, making it wag its tail.
"Fraternising with the enemy, aren't we, Seonghwa? I was hoping I'd never see you again."
I look up to see the head angel walking over, while the dragon lifts his head and snarls, causing him to retreat a little. "I wasn't hoping to see you in the next life either, Jiwoon."
Audibly, he sighs. "But it looks like we owe you a favour now, for stopping the beast. Come with me."
