Chapter 22
Sorry for not updating earlier, anyways, I have two new chapters for you ^^
Ross's POV
"Lara and I will go left, Supah, you go right." Hawkfrost commanded. All though he always took his role as a leader seriosuly, there were little times he was this serious. Supah nodded and with no further hesitation, they seperated, sprinting into each direction. I looked down at Olivia who I was holding in my arms. Her once peachy skin was now pale, almost white. Her eyes were closed and the eyelids were painted darker as every small breath was a struggle for her, and painful for me to listen. Her whole body was shivering as the air around her was too cold for her over-heated body.
"Hey Ross?" Sorrows next to me asked and I looked at her "Do you want to swap? You've been carrying her for quite a while now."
I shook me head. Sorrows had already opened her mouth to argue but I spoke first "No, I insist. I'm no use to this group anyways, if this is a virus the least I can do is sacrifice me life for all of you." I said, not looking at Sorrows but keeping my gaze fixed on Olivia.
"With such a heroic intention, don't you ever dare say again you are no use to this group." Sorrows simply said.
Supah soon came running back, panting heavily. He didn't speak but neither of us bothered asking because his expression told us his search was unsuccessful. Not long after that, Lara and Hawkfrost returned as well. Both of them were also catching their breath. After a while Hawkfrost spoke up, but his message was broken into many smaller parts from his panting
"We should... keep on... searching..." He took another step but exhaustion stopped him.
"We should take a break." Supah said, much more clearly as he had already restored his oxygen supplies
"Olivia doesn't have time to take a break." Lara reminded the two males.
"Me and Ross can take a run, isn't that right Ross?" Sorrows said and looked at me.
"Yes, of course!" I nodded eagerly. anything to save Olivia
"Very well then, we still haven't checked what's behind so head that way." Hawkfrost explained, while looking at the path which stretched further behind our backs.
"Got it." Sorrows bowed her head. I walked over to Hawkfrost and with slight hesitation, handed her over. Then side by side, Sorrows and I started running.
It didn't take long until I started getting exhuasted. The path split into two narrower lines. Not wasting our energy to speak, Sorrows pointed on her left, letting me know this was the path she was taking. I nodded, letting her know I understand and took the right path myself. My lungs were screaming for air because I wasn't a very good athlete. Suddenly I stopped. I felt a slight atmosphere change. My skin was for some dumb reason more sensitive so I don't think others would feel this change as well. But I felt it. The air was warmer. Trying to focus my senses more I realized something more. The warmth was coming from my right, to be more precise, miles of this endless forest were on my right. But I knew there had to be something there. After all, the prophecy did say it was a hidden home. What did I have to lose? Olivia'a life was at risk, okay but I had a feeling that this isn't just a normal temperature change.
I started walking fast over brambles and roots. This was possibly the thickest part of this forest I've ever been to and it wasn't exactly easy to move really fast. Minutes passed and I was losing the confidence I had when I made the decision this was the right way. But then again, how could I be wrong? The air was thick and hot. There was something there and I was heading the right way. I felt a large sense of relief when I finally stepped out of the thick undergrowth of the forest. I found it.
I ran back, faster than before, not caring about the pain when a thorn broke through my shoe. I was screaming and shouting every member of the team's name, calling them over. Luckily just as I saw the light of the moon again, they were all already gathered around the bushes which seperated the path from the forest.
"I found it..." I said, panting. Everybody looked a bit sceptical and surprised.
"Are you sure?" Sorrows slowly asked.
"Yes! Please you gotta believe me!"
"Well it was supposed to be hidden." Lara said, thinking "I don't see a reason why Ross would be lying."
I gave Lara a nod of appreciation and she smiled right back, letting me know it was no problem.
I led the way into the depths of the forest, encouraging them to go faster each time the pace would drop slightly. As time passed I could tell by their expressions they were losing hope, Lara as well so I started rambling a shit like "we're almost there!" and "Just a little longer!" Which of course, didn't help.
Luckily, we soon arrived to what I guess could be called the promised place. Everybody stopped to just stare in amazement and surprise. It was a small opening but with two smaller hot springs. The air was warm and wet and overall really pleasant.
"I'm guessing the cure is the water then." Sorrows said the obvious.
"Can I throw her in?" Hawkfrost said, almost begging. He looked like a puppy "Please I haven't done anything evil in months."
I saw Lara who had angrily frowned. Hawkfrost saw her expression but I don't think he bothered to make the situation better by apologizing "Fine but gently throw her in."
"Well they say Mr.Gentle is my middle name." Hawkfrost bragged as he proudly walked closer to the hot spring and dropped Olivia in there. Water splashed his jeans but I don't think he minded. He then made sure she was in a right position that would prevent her from slipping deeper into water and drowning
"Nobody calls you Mr.Gentle, Hawkfrost. It sounds wrong." Supah said with a slighlty annoyed sight, but I could see he was trying to hide a smile. Everybody were quiet and stared at Olivia. Her colors were returning but her eyes were still closed. However the fact that she was getting better told us we found the place.
Sorrows sat down and opened the bag she carried around everywhere. She took out a piece of charcoal and her notebook and then started writing and doodling in it. Lara walked over to her and sat down next to her as I stayed near the hotspring Olivia was in.
"What are you doing?" Lara asked as Hawkfrost pulled his hooded sweater over his head. Hawkfrost then threw the piece of clothing at Lara who caught it just in time. Sorrows looked amused as if she was looking forward to where this was going.
"Well we're going to be here for a while and there's still one hotspring left empty so I thought I might as well take a dip." He explained and threw his black tshirt at her as well. I started enjoying this myself seeing Lara slightly uncomfortable as she was blushing. In fact, I had to cover my mouth with my hand to keep my chuckling down.
"Yeah but what if it's not safe?" Lara protested.
"Well hmmmm let's see, Olivia is currently healing in there, I bet it's deadly." Hawkfrost said as sarcastically as possible and took his shoes and socks off as well. I kept my laughter in as Lara was getting more scared as well as more aroused. I don't think she realized that herself but her expression told us everything.
In the end, Hawkfrost was only left in his underwear and almost took that off as well. Luckily Lara stopped him in time.
"Actually I don't think you should take that off." Lara said, her face red of embarrassment and whatever else she was feeling at that moment. I think Sorrows couldn't control herself anymore and leaned closer to Lara's ear.
"We all know you want it." She whispered, loudly and clearly... almost seductively.
I burst out laughing as Lara felt even more uncomfortable. Supah was laughing as well and I tried to remember if I ever even saw him laughing.
"No I don't! S-Stop it!" Lara defended herself. But pretty much failed.
"Yes you do, don't try to hide it." Supah teased her as well. Lara just looked at him shocked. I wondered what Hawkfrost's reaction to all of this was so I looked at him. After all he was smart enough to understand these jokes and know what it was about. He looked pretty serious.
"I don't see what the fuss here is." He said, keeping his voice calm and loud "She obviously wants me."
Our laughter only increased with that and Hawkfrost proudly looked around, smirking at his accomplishment. Lara on the other hand was still red in the face and looked absolutely betrayed. Sorrows gave her a friendly pat on the back.
"Don't worry Lara. I'm sure that one day you'll get what you crave for." Lara glared at Sorrows, sighed loudly and then didn't say anything.
"This water's really warm, man that feels good." Hawkfrost said "You should get in as well."
"Nah we're good." Lara, who only had her feet in the water said and Sorrows nodded in approval.
"Supah?" Hawkfrost turned his head to the other side.
Supah shook his head "God knows what villains did in here."
Lara narrowed her eyes in surprise "Are you implying underwater sex?"
Supah shrugged "As I said, I don't know what they did in there nor do I want to."
"Maybe they just had some lovley pool parties." A voice from the other hotspring spoke.
"Olivia!" Everybody exclaimed in happiness as the youngest female woke up. She smiled, happy to be back as well.
"Yout look great!" Sorrows said.
"Thanks, this hotspring really did help. And Hawkfrost is right, you're all missing out by not trying them out yourselves."
"Honestly I think nobody else should strip down and get in like Hawkfrost did because he is the most good-looking one here and everybody else would feel ugly around him." I said. That was my argument.
"You called him good-looking, are you gay?" Olivia said, laughing.
"W-What? No I'm not!"no way I'm going to let a kinky American call me gay.
Olivia nodded while smiling sarcastically "Sureeeee." I decided to ignore her.
Hawkfrost got out of the hotspring and soon after, started shivering. He walked over to Lara, arms crossed on his stomach. Lara felt somebody behind her and turned to face Hawkfrost.
"Hello." Hawkfrost said sweetly "I was wondering if you could keep me warm."
"Keep on dreaming. Maybe I'd change my mind if you would be on my side during those dick jokes." She said and started walking away. She stopped and looked at him again "Enjoy being Hawkfrost." She said, smirking and then made her way ahead. Sorrows walked to him and patted him on the back while they both watched as Lara walked away.
"One thing still remains true however." She said, almost sounding wise "she defiently wants it."
