Sweet Dreams And Blood Poisoning
It's morning, and I've woken up at early sunrise. The sky is orange with a light pink tint. Everyone else is still asleep, Chase still holding me snugly in his arms. I'm still tired, but I can't go back to sleep. So I just lie there, my eyes wide open, gazing off into the sunset. I feel sick. My stomach hurts and it hurts when I move, so instead of focusing on the pain, I try to focus on the rising and falling of Chase 's chest as he sleeps. As calming as it is to hear him breathing, it doesn't help with the excruciating pains shooting through my body. I hear a rustle in the bushes and force myself to sit up. Chase begins to stir in his sleep. I suddenly get a hopeful feeling. "Genius," I whisper, hoping that it is my dog. "Here, boy. It's Lyrica. Come here." Nothing. Maybe it's just my imagination.
I lie back down and snuggle into Chase 's chest, trying to ignore all of the excruciating pains shooting through my body. I hear another rustle in the bushes. Okay, now I know that I heard something. I sit up again, too quickly, and I start to feel dizzy. My chest burns and I launch into a coughing fit, blood pouring from my mouth. Everyone jumps up. "Lyrica," Chase screams. He cups my face in his hands and everyone rushes over to me. I feel very light-headed. "Lyrica, are you okay," Daddy Douglas asks. I shake my head and blood comes pouring out of my mouth again. I pass out for sometime, I don't know how long, and when I open my eyes, I'm not fully awake. My vision is blurry and the pain has gotten worse. Everyone is running around, trying to make do with what they have to help me. Chase has a tight grip on my hand, and is in complete hysterics. Uncle Donny is patting his back, trying to comfort him. "Lyrica," he sobs. "Lyrica, please!" "Calm down, Chase," Donny says, softly. "It'll be all right." "Lyrica," Chase sobs again, tears running down his cheeks. Uncle Donny keeps rubbing his back. "Dad," Chase sobs, calling Donald his "Dad" for the first time. "Dad! Did I lose her!? Did I lose her for good this time!? Did I lose her for good this time!?" "She'll be all right, son," Uncle Donny says, but I'm not entirely sure that he's telling the truth. "I love her," Chase sobs. "I love her! I need her!" Those words are the last that I hear before I pass out again.
When I wake up, I'm...home. Not home as in at the Davenports' house. Home as in...my home. Where I grew up and was raised. My cozy, home sweet home. Oh, how I've missed it! But...my house was burnt down. That's how I lost my mother. If my house is still here, then...
"Hello, dear child."
I give a soft gasp, "Mom?"
