"So he has an alter ego named Spike?" I asked Leo once he came to pick me up from my class to nutrition like always.

He nodded and responded "I know! I can't wait to meet him but let's just hope he's not like your crazy alter ego Explosiva"

Leo and I shuttered at once when we walked out of class headed to the cafeteria.

It was currently nutrition, or breakfast, and we were meeting Adam, Bree, and Chase there right now.

Looking down one last time at my outfit I was currently wearing (a shoulderless long sleeve purple top with blue jeans and black combat boots, and hair up in a bun) I walked inside behind Leo meeting up with the three.

"Hey guys" Leo and I greeted in unison as they smiled back at us brightly.

First day of school is always the best feeling since it's one of your first somethings.

I bet Tasha made them all take a picture together before they left, typical Tasha.

"Okay you guys, that's Principal Perry. She has the temperament of a junk yard dog stuffed into a really bad pant suit." Leo said pointing over to a cubby woman about 4'8 with red hair and scary anger issues.

She looked over to Freddie Jason and shrieked "Hey you, no tongue rings in school! Don't try to hide it, I will take a metal detector to your face"

Breathing in deeply I sighed and said "it took me a year to kiss up to her so she could avoid me"

Bree looked over at one of the 'cute' guys and gushed looking off into the distance "This is it! My chance for romance. On T.V. the girl always drops her books and the cute guy with soulful eyes picks them up"

My eyes widened and I tapped her shoulder saying "Bree..." but it was too late.

Mr. Smith, my history teacher, slipped on her fallen books making the papers in his hands go everywhere.

When he got up Bree mumbled "Sorry, I'm new" as I helped Mr. Smith up and hand him back his papers.

After that little encounter Leo continued "Okay, your social life is determined where you sit. We can't sit at 'the cool' table," looking over to where the cheerleaders were sitting I rolled my eyes but I noticed the three look over at the table like it was gold.

Leo continued pointing at another table "but we can be cool table adjacent."

"F.Y.I. Adam just sat down at the cool table."

Leo panicked and rushed over to the cool table where Adam was making the girls laugh by placing two oranges over his eyes.

That right there is really sad, nothing else to do with their lives but laugh at a guy who covers his face with oranges.

"What! He can't sit there! That's where the football players sit with the cheerleaders, and they pride themselves on finding clever places to stuff your pudding cup." Leo explained panicked.

I placed a hand over his shoulder calming him down just a little bit.

"Those girls are actually talking to him." Chase said amazed.

"They can't talk about shapes and colors forever. See ya." He waved off making me gasp in shock.

This is why I don't like getting involved with guys, there will always be prettier girls gaining attention from the guy even if he's taken.

Not that he's taken or anything but let's just wait.

"There's a reason those girls talked to Adam. It's because most of them are all airheads" I mumbled over to Bree shaking my head in shame.

"No! The football players are going to turn him into the fifth food group. It's a rescue mission." I cocked an eyebrow at him but pretended to go into spy mode anyway.

What? He's my cousin and no matter what happens we always stick together.

"Move in! Move in!" He waved over to Bree who was still in her spot.
'Just follow along' I mouthed over to her as she rolled her eyes and followed pursuit.

Adam looked over to us and said brightly "Oh hey guys, look these girls just told me when the football players get here I'm getting a free pudding cup!"

I tried my hardest not to scoff at him but it was really hard so I bit my tongue.

Leo cleared his throat and said I high pitched"Hi! While waving over to Jenny.

Bending over slightly he whispered to Chase while fake smiling at her "Walk away."

"How's it going?" He asked her before leaning in again "You're in great danger."

I groaned loudly when I heard Trent and his football players enter the cafeteria trying to do it in style making it smell like old gym socks and dirty clothes. 

Trent looked at Leo and sniffed him like if he was trash even though he's clean.

Disgusting I know but then again he's Trent.

"Sorry." Leo said immediately moving away from him.

Seriously has this guy ever heard of deodorant or I don't know, soap?

Chase was still sitting in Trent spot so Trent did what Trent does best.

He smacked the table earning Chase's attention and shouted "Hey that's my seat! Get lost before I use you like a napkin."

I growled and got between them shouting "get lost Trent"

Trent was taken back by my outburst but shouted back while shoving me to the ground "make me Falcon"

"Chase we should probably go." Bree told him nervously while looking at Trent "He's not very absorbent."

Trent opened up the top to one of the cheerleaders water bottles and spilled water all over the table while saying"Oh look a spill!"

He also poured water on my head and that was my breaking point.

He picked up Chase by the collar of his shirt and growled "I think I'm gonna wipe it with your face"

Before I was able to kick him where the sun don't shine Chase switched positions and slammed Trent against the cafeteria table earning everyone's attention.

"Think again bubble neck. I'm gonna rip out your knee caps and use them as hockey pucks." Chase growled only it wasn't Chase, it was him but with a deeper and scarier voice.

Adam stumbled his way over to us  and said as if we hadn't noticed "Okay, I don't mean to alarm anyone but I think Spike is back."

"No it's the tooth fairy" I said sarcastically and his face lit up like a Christmas tree.

"Really?" He asked but I didn't answer back when I saw Trent moving away from Spike terrified.

"You have no idea who you're messing with! Okay?"

I bit my lip trying to hold a laugh at Trent acting tough but being scared.

"Pudding cups!" He yelled as two geeks placed pudding cups in each of his hands.

"Ooh, I'll take those." Spike said gladly and squirted it all on the football team and a little on me.

Today is so not a good day for me.

"Aaahhhhhhh! You're dead!" Trent yelled angrily but ran off when Spike screamed at him scaring them off.

"You, okay, you're lucky that we have to go to the reading center, right now." And soon enough the cowards were gone.

There was a slight pause until people started clapping for him but I just tried to remove the pudding from my shirt.

I'll congratulate him when he actually remembers taking down the whole football team plus the captain.

"Take a seat compadres. This is our table now."

"Hello ladies." Leo casually said trying to flirt.

"You may remember me from health class when I passed out during the miracle of birth video. It's good to see you again"

Spike winked at me and it gave me the goosebumps so I immediately said "guys I have to go to the bathroom. Pudding and water don't mix well with a purple shirt"

Running back home I got a clean shirt and ran back here without even being seen.

Being super rocks!

Walking down the halls everyone was treating Chase- I mean Spike like a king and yes it was annoying.

Britney Anne whispered over to me "ooh Bad Boy and daredevil. I like it"

Leo was giving people fist bumps as if he was also king and said  "All right, make room for the alpha dogs! Woof woof woof woof."

Adam placed his hand on his shoulder and said embarassed "Don't do that."

"Won't make you look any cute" I said casually as he rolled his eyes at me.

If any other girl told him that he would have gotten mad but I'm a very outspoken girl so he expects something like that from me.

Bree's eyes widen in realization and said while dropping her books "Wait, if we're the alpha dogs then...Woops." Two guys rushed over and picked up her books as if she was a princess and they were her servants.

"I love this!" She shrieked happily as I rolled my eyes.

I'm not the sappy type and I don't get what's up with a guy picking up your books, he's just being nice sheesh.

A boy walked over and handed Spike a hall pass while passing me his number.

"What's this?"

"That's an all access hall pass!" Leo said excitedly as I crushed the guys number in my hand.

"Also a guys number" I mumbled but thankfully no one heard.

"You can go anywhere you want with that!"

"I could go anywhere I want already. These-" Spike flexed his bicepts showing off his muscles and I'm not going to lie but I wanted to so badly touch them.

OK I might not be obsessed with guys but I have my moments.

"-are my hall passes." He finishes kissing his bicepts.

"Okay if he starts oiling up, I'm out." Bree surrendered but I only stared and I knew she noticed but didn't question it, only smirked.

When I looked into his eyes they were so confident but then it all changed to confusion.

"Commando App disengaged? Guys, why was I in commando mode?" Chase asked us all.

"Were you in commando mode?"

"I didn't see commando mode."

Then Adam said obviously "Oh that's good! Everyone keep lying."

"Guys, you were suppose to watch out for me!" Chase said exasperated.

Leo smiled brightly and bragged "Oh we watched the whole thing. You man handled the quarter back and pudding popped the defensive line."

Chase suddenly looked crestfallen and I desperately wanted to give him a hug as an apology. "What?! Aww great, this is so going to come back and haunt my Surprem Court nomination!"

Bree rolled her eyes and said "You know what Spike would say to that? Nothing! He'd rip out your rib cage and play it like a xylophone."

Adam walked over to Chase and patted his shoulder while saying "Yeah I liked him. He's like a big fun monster in your sad little body."

That was cold and he didn't have a sad little body or else he wouldn't have bicepts.

Don't you dare tell anyone I told you that!

Leo took off his backpack and said confidently, trying to look intimidating "I'll get Spike back. Get lost before I use you like a napkin!"

Leo tried to lift Chase up but it was an epic fail. "Yeah, this isn't going to work."

Leo looked over to me and said "Wonder, time to be mean"

Putting my hand on Chase's shoulder I said "sorry Leo, truth is I don't want Spike back. He's just like Explosiva"

Everyone looked at me oddly before I said "you don't want to know"

"Hey baby, want a nibble?" Leo said trying to flirt.

Key word :trying, he sucks at flirting.

"Hey there's Trent. I better go apologize." Chase said before being pulled down by Bree.

"Woah, slow it up buttercup."

"Mail him a greeting card. Much more personal."

I looked over at Chase and said "hey if you want I could go so then your pretty little face can still stay in good shape"

He smirked at me and asked "you think I'm pretty? "

"Don't push it, it's rare when she calls a guy pretty" Leo said patting Chase's back.

"And if I do they usually take it as an insult because they prefer to be called handsome so don't take it personally" I said taking another bite of my salad.

Adam was using a straw to suck up his burger and I wanted to puke.

Who eats their burger through a straw, just saying.

"Guys look, the cheerleaders cut up my food in to tiny pieces. I'm eating a turkey burger through a straw!" He said sipping up more pieces of the burger.

"Mmmmm gibblity."

Ignoring him and I continued to eat my salad in peace until I felt a tingling sensation flow through me.

Something bad is about to happen and nothing good is to come of it.

"Hey new kid! Come here!" I heard Principal Perry yell scaring me a little.

"Do you know what happens when my foot ball players get humiliated?" Chase shook his head furiously "No! You don't! Because my football players don't get humiliated."

I smirked to myself because the do get humiliated once in a while.

"They look humiliated to me." I said taking another bite out of my salad as she glared at me, then back at Chase.

Perry growled and continued yelling "I know what team spirit is about, because I was the jammer on the North Pacific Roller Derby championship team!"

Roller derby, huh I never have even see her run fast so on skates, that's something.

"Quite an accomplishment." Chase replied trying not to be rude.

Principal Perry, just say what you wanna say and Chase, Shut up!

"Don't mock me squash face! My career ended when a trash talker like you got inside my head and I wiped out. One zebra called it the worst single body collision you've ever seen."

The zebra must have been the referee or else she must have been having a hallucination.

Chase chuckled lightly and tried to joke"I'd crash too if I saw a talking zebra!"

OK I have dibs on principal Perry winning this fight.

Principal Perry went all up in Chase's face and yelled "It's a referee you desk donkey! Trent told me what you did to him at breakfast, you will not undermind the moral of my team. Evacuate this table,"

Pointing to all of us she shrieked "NOW!"

Looking over at me she said yelling as well "Falcon can stay!"

Figures, my family is the schools top donater and without my family this school would be completely broke.

Looking up at Chase I saw how his eyes changed from nervous to confident in less that 3 seconds flat.

Spikes back.

"Watch who you're talking to Sports bra!" Spike growled getting all up in her face.

Remind me never to get him mad or feel threatened "I bet you panicked, threw yourself off the track, and blamed the other team for your weakness."

Go Spike! Show that woman who's boss!

What?! She has been a pain for the past year, show her in her place.

"Do you think this Spike thing's gotten a bit out of hand?" Leo asked over to Bree and I.

"He might have crossed the line at Sports bra..." Bree replied to his question

I scoffed and said "nope"

Bree's eyes widen at me as I simply replied "I like guys with guts"

That's when she smirked at me and I just ignored her knowing we have to talk about this later.

Principal Perry was embarassed so she looked down in shame "I had to quit because of that accident!"

"Quit? Or move out of the state in shame?" Spike suggested growling.

"Burn" I whispered covering my mouth with my hand.

A bunch of 'oohs' filled the cafeteria as everyone's eyes widen "He doesn't know! He wasn't there!"

Spike went right up to her face and growled "Why don't you hop in your economy car and toodle on home to your six cats and your online bingo tournament!"

"Jokes on you! I have five cats! Ha!" She sqeaked and I wanted to laugh at her lame attempt to win.

When she was gone Spike winked at me and I rolled my eyes.

He may be in Chase's body but he isn't Chase.

Principal Perry walked back over to us after having a little Chat with Trent and said "All right kid, I'll make you a deal! Let's be civilized and settle this the old fashioned way...with a bone crushing grudge match on the football field!"

Without hesitation Spike replied "We're in, Me, him, her and...him." Spike said pointing to himself, Adam, Bree and Leo skipping over me but I didn't care.

I probably would show up late since it's family mandatory crime fighting night, well for my brother and I anyway.

My parents are retired and my younger siblings are to young to go and fight crime yet.

"You and your band of nobodys versus my fighting Dingos." Principal Perry 'suggested'

Bree whispered over to me showing off half a heart "Who's she calling a nobody? I got half a BFF necklace today!"

Principal Perry went on waving her hand around as if royalty "Winner takes table and all the glory."

Leo sauntered over to Principal Perry and said trying to stop the football game "Oh man, as much as I like to flex my football fanciness, girl's soccer has the field tonight."

Principal Perry looked defeated as she continued "Ah, just as well. I can't condone such a violent game on school grounds...so let's take it to the dog park across the street!"

When she left Leo asked nervously "Am I the only one who's gonna need a fresh pair of pants before we start?"

Adam raised his hand and I couldn't help but wonder if it was for the same reasons.

"So you have a crush on my brother huh Mia?" Bree asked me during free period.

Blushing furiously I replied "so what if I do?"

She rolled her eyes and sat down next to me saying "so what?! There are rumors at this school that you are incapable of love and knowing that my brother makes your heart beat faster by just looking at you then wow. It definitely means something"

I rubbed the bridge of my nose and said "ok it means something but please don't tell anyone. I'm serious" I said sternly as she crossed her heart in a promise.

"I promise Mia. After all that's what besties are for"

I was speeding over to the game in sweats and a tank since it was the only thing I could find after my mission but it was something.

When I got there I saw Leo distracting the other team while Bree used her super speed to tie their shoe laces together.

When Leo got their attention again they all tripped making Leo throw the ball to Spike as he ran for the touchdown.

"Go Alphas! " I yelled happily as Adam cheered along with me.

Adam started getting weird looks from everyone as he replied "What? If Bree can be a cheerleader, I can too. Woohoo!"

The score was now Dingos: 23 Alpha Dogs 17 almost a tie.

When they got into a huddle Principal Perry squeezed her way into the huddle and said "Seven seconds left. Now remember kids there is no shame in losing. Oh wait! Yes there is!" I glared at her as she walked away.

"Game on!" She blew the whistle in my ear and ran off.

"Well I won't be able to hear for the next few weeks" I mumbled rubbing my ear.

"Alright, we have time for one more play. Spike, you scored every touchdown today. You score one more and we win." Leo told him encouragingly.

Spike smirked and said bragging "Give me the ball. If I don't come back with there spleens you'll know I've failed."

Suddenly he stopped walking and that's when I realized that Chase was back.

"Wait, where am I? And why am I wearing a jockstrap?"

"Oh no. It's Chase."

I ran over back onto the field as Bree shook Chase shrieking "We need Spike back! Where is he? Where is Spike!" Adam had to pull Bree off of Chase in order for her to calm down.

"Hey, let's go! We don't have all day!" Trent yelled from across the field.

I glared at him and yelled back "be patient tooth fairy!"

"Time out!" Leo called making our team huddle together.

"Jerk" I mumbled looking back at them.

Chase looked upset and said "I told you. I don't want to be Spike. I've been waiting for my first day of school for fifteen years and now I don't even remember it."

"Well when you put it that way, I just feel selfish."

Adam put a hand on Chase's shoulder as if he was going to say something deep but surprising he shrieked "Oh come on! Snap out of it! I wanna win!"

"No," Leo said sternly"He's right."

Chase smiled trying to brighten up the mood "Come on guys. We can still win this thing, and even of we don't win, what do we have to lose?"

"Our table."

"Popularity."

"Everything."

"Nothing"

Everyone looked at me oddly as I just shrugged "I don't like being popular nor I want to be so I have nothing to lose"

Trent yelled laughing all of a sudden "Come on, are we playing football or playing putt-putt!"

"Put a sock in it Trent" I yelled back before looking back at Chase.

Breathing in deeply I said to him "imagine no one but you on the field. If you do nothing but fall don't consider it an option, just go. Good luck Chase "

Walking back to the outer field I looked at the last moments of the game.

"Ready? Hike!" Leo yelled while passing the ball to Chase.

Chase looked confused as to where he should throw the ball and that's when he was tackled to the ground and I gasped.

"Game over! Dingos win!"

I ran over to Chase helping him while yelling to the idiot who tackled him "carefull next time idiot"

"See you later in the cafeteria alpha duds. Oh! And the puddings on you." Trent yelled from across the field making some weird movement with his arms.

Everyone had left the field except us which wouldn't be surprising since we did lose.

"Jerks" I mumbled helping Chase up.

"Well, we may not be the alpha dogs anymore but at least we still have each other. We're not total nobodies." Chase said and I agreed.

"Yeah, who needs popularity" I added putting my arm on his shoulder.

"No, we are total nobodies and I need popularity. But at least I have you four to carry my broken butt home." Leo said falling on the ground on purpose.

Everyone grabbed a limb and carried him up home.

Today has certainly been an eventful day.

"Hey sweetie, you certainly smell like your brother's dirty hamper. Why is that?" My mom asked me dusting the chandelier off the ceiling.

I just shrugged and responded "went to a football game"

My younger siblings walked into the room at the same time and awed "awe, Mia went to a football game for a boy"

"Did not. I went to support Leo and his new siblings" I resorted speeding over to the fridge grabbing a water bottle.

Jake popped right in front of me upside down (since he's walking on the ceiling) and said "and one of them happens to be your age and as I recall you saying a few days ago 'he's oh so cute'"

Jake was mocking me and I hate the fact that he enjoys doing it.

It's just a little schoolgirl crush, nothing too major...I think?

"Shut up. He's just a boy"

My dad decided to flash in here at that very moment and said "what boy? Honey I thought that we decided that Mia was to young for boys"

My mom rolled her eyes and said happily "when can we meet him?! Is he cute? What color eyes does he have? How tall is he? Is he super?"

I responded "I don't know, yes he's cute, hazel eyes with a hint of green, I think 5'8, and kind of."

They all froze what they were doing and asked in unison "what do you mean kind of"

"He and his siblings are bionic" I said chugging down my water bottle.

"Boinic!" They all shrieked in unison.

My brother jumped off the ceiling and said "wait! They have chips in their necks that give them powers like a super. That's cool!"

I know what your thinking 'why did you tell them about Adam, Bree, and Chase being bionic?' Simple, my mom can read my mind and tell the whole family getting me in trouble.

Also we don't know a lot of supers in the area so telling them about another family who has abilities is really exciting for them.

"Can we meet them?" Matt asked me.

I shrugged and replied "I don't think that they would be comfortable about me telling you guys about them being bionic. They don't even know I'm super"

My mom frowned and said "well that sucks. I guess we'll continue hiding from everyone that we have abilities with no one to hide it with"

My mom was trying to guilt me but it wasn't working.

My father smiled and clapped saying "well at least that boy won't be coming often"

Mom and I glared at him as he lifted his arms in surrender.

"What, I'm her dad. I don't like the idea of her meeting other guys and it's my job to be over protective"

"Whatever"
