Bionic Action Hero

"Where's Leo?" I asked, appearing into the main entrance...where no one heard so I felt like a freakin' idiot

Great!

Looking around, I decided to turn my attention to the blank screen and asked myself, "So-Mia-have I fulfilled the best friend role or...?"

"Mia?" I heard someone ask. Turning around to face them, I saw Leo walk out of the Hydra Loop along with Bree, Adam, and Douglas. He smiled widely, taking me into his arms, "You came?"

I smiled back, returning his hug awkwardly, "Yeah. What's happening?"

Bree had frowned, "Chase was taken."

My eyes widened and I immediately pushed Leo back slightly without completely letting him go, "What do you mean?"

Tilting his head downwards, Adam let out a low whistle paying attention to what his sister would respond with. Leo did too, seemingly waiting for my reaction.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before telling them, "GPS. Check his GPS locator." When no one moved, I screamed, "Now!"

Douglas quickly walked over to the computer desk and began to type quickly on the cyber screen. Letting go of Leo, I flipped my hair back and composed myself quickly. Now was not the time to fall apart. Nor did I want to

"Poor Chase," Bree said sadly, "This is all my fault." Everyone had turned to her quietly.

"Notice nobody's saying no, it's not?" Adam asked.

I crossed my arms and watched her get nervous, refusing to look me in the eye as she tried to apologize, "I'm sorry. I trusted Troy, and now Chase may die because of it."

My heart involuntarily clenched but I took a deep breath and pushed all feelings down. No matter how much I wanted to flip for reasons I didn't want to address.

"That's what you get for falling in love with an android."

"Hey," Leo cut off, "compared to some of the other guys she's dated, a robot's an improvement."

"What's the status on the GPS' signal?" I asked, cutting off straight to the point.

Douglas frowned, "It isn't coming up. Giselle must've deactivated it."

Biting my thumbnail, I took a deep breath and asked, "Okay. Who's Giselle?"

"Douglas' evil ex-girlfriend," Leo answered.

"Chase could be anywhere." Bree worried, pacing around the room.

Her brother panicked, "And if he's in pieces, he could be everywhere."

"Guys," I cut off, "Enough."

"Wait a second! I do have Giselle's phone number. Would it be weird to just call her?" Douglas asked, pulling out his cell.

Leo waved off, "You don't wanna seem too eager. Wait two days until you ask her out again.
"Yeah. Good idea."

Both of them gave each other false smiles before Leo blew, "Are you insane?! Call her!"

"I can't be here. Let me know when it's go time." I told them both, walking away from whatever awkwardness would occur.

I saw one of the students look up at me and smile from the chairs, "Hey Mia! Your back!"

Giving them a tight smile, I acknowledged what they had said but didn't answer and looked away. I personally didn't feel like talking, especially with my emotions jumping around making me unstable. Apparently, every part of my body was reacting and my mind was the only one in control. Mind over body, right?

No?

Well, here's to trying!

"Hurry!" Bree screamed, and I turned around to see a woman smiling on the monitor with a screaming Chase and a man with clawable arms.

My eyes widened, "What the-"

"I got her location!"

"Come on," Bree hurried, "I'll super speed us."

"Adam, you're with me." I cut in, sprinting towards the three.

Giselle gave us a wicked grin and teased, "You can't leave now. You have company."

Turning around, we all saw the Hydra Loop's lights go off before the doors opened and a man with the ugliest wannabe mustache/beard came in with a menacing look as he took in the Academy quickly. Most likely analyzing his fighting strategy indoors.

Letting out an annoyed sigh, Adam said gesturing with his arms, "Oh, not a good time, dude. Can you come back later?"

The man paid no attention to Adam's request and instead shot a couple of student's with a blast to the chest. I immediately got into a fighting position before I was pulled away by Leo as him, his siblings, and Douglas ran behind a pillar quickly.

"So," I asked, "What exactly is the game plan?"

"We have to protect the academy." Bree answered, "That's our priority right now."

As the man continued to send blasts our way, I asked again impatiently, "How are we gonna get through?"

"I just sent you Giselle's location." Leo cut in, "Take Adam and go get him. We'll cover you."

"Me too."

Douglas looked up at me and frowned, "As much as I want to let power girl out, you have no memory or any prior training whatsoever to go out into that field."

I looked over to Leo who simply nodded, "He's right. You have a better chance actually surviving here with us."

Taking in a deep breath, I nodded and stepped back for both Bree and Adam to run past me and get their suits. Once they were gone, I grabbed Leo's phone with the coordinates and quickly said, "Tell them I'll meet 'em inside. "

"MIa!" he screamed, right before I geo leaped away.

I feel like I should feel bad?

...

Meh. He'll get over it.

"Guys!"

"Mia? What are you doing here? It's not safe." Bree demanded, running over to me. She blinked, stunned, "You're wearing... your suit?"

Turning to face her, I nodded, Yeah, so?"

She shook her head, "Nothing. Just...surprised I guess."

"I couldn't find him anywhere. Not even with my tracking senses."

"Us neither."

Chase had shrieked. His yells echoed through the building making both Bree and I jump. Adam's eyes widened panicked, "That's Chase! He must really be in pain. Normally, I find his screams soothing."

Bree shook her head, "Let's go."

Before we had a chance to run, a boy in a bun walked in stopping us from going further. Bree had turned red before backing away, clearly shocked to see whomever he may be.
"Oh, look." Her brother spoke nervously, "Troy's here. I should give you two some alone time."

"Adam!" She exclaimed.

Troy? Her stupid android friend who supposedly wanted to get with her only to use her for his own advantage, Troy?

He just made my list.

"Which one of you should I take out first?" He asked. A woman had stepped besides him, with her chin up and a firm posture, I could tell this was the crazy ex Douglas dated. Great!

"Giselle?" Adam answered, smiling. When she didn't respond, he simply spewed out his heat vision before Troy blocked it with his own. I had stepped besides Bree watching the two go at it before they both were shocked at the blast and flew back.

"Okay." Adam sighed, recovering, "So you have heat vision, huh? How about super strength?"

Throwing the first punch, Adam was swiftly taken down and Bree groaned, "Boys." Before being kicked down by Giselle.

"Hey!" I screamed, "What about me?"

She snarled, "What about you?"

Gathering up my strength, I blasted Troy into the far wall in which he cringed. Giselle glanced back at him in which he glared and asked, "Who are you?"

I smirked, "Not Bionic."

The sound of my back hitting the containers of God knows what really put things into perspective. Mainly that I'm not a robot and feel a ton of pain when I hit something.

I really didn't want Douglas to be right, but he was freakin' right. I have no memories, nor any prior fighting tactics. My abilities only went so far.

Which is why Adam took over and took most of the hits as I gave most of the offense hits. Even with both of us fighting one android, it was difficult.

As he threw punches, he nearly threw one at my face before being pulled back by Adam. The vibrations of the hit cause his appearance to malfunction and show us his exoskeleton.

Once he let go, Adam awed at the reformation of his arm and said, "Whoa. Hey, you tell me how to do that, I'll give you Chase's chip."

"Adam!" I scolded, in which he simply pointed at the arm like it was an obvious choice. Ignoring him, I threw another hit in which he dodged, grabbed my arm, and flipped me onto my back before continuing on to Adam.

Bree had managed to take down Giselle, and Troy immediately went to her rescue. Taking advantage of the opportunity, I shot him with a triple blast to keep him down. Smiling, Adam cheered, "You may have cool abilities, but there's one thing you haven't learned. Real heroes hit people when their backs are turned."

Backing away from the scene, we all began our sprint down to the lab where the call was held and where Chase laid, seemingly passed out and a white sheet over him.

I stopped running.

Bree screamed his name running over to her little brother, along with Adam who placed his hand over his chest. He looked up at her, "He's not breathing."

"There's no pulse."

It was then Adam had begun to panic, shaking his brother's body begging for a freakin' miracle that his brother would come back. I wanted to go to them. I wanted to move. I needed to move, but doing so proved a much difficult task. I did so anyway, standing by the end where his feet lay. I felt Bree's hands on my shoulder before I shrugged it off. I didn't want...I didn't need her touching me. Not right now.

Adam eventually stopped when Bree begged him too, crying.

I didn't feel like I had a right to cry, so I just let them. Moving to where bree once stood, I watched him lay there. I watched him not move. His chest didn't rise, his eyes didn't move underneath the lids. He was dead. He was really dead.

Instinctively, I grabbed his hand. It was cold, so I begun to run my thumb around it to make it warmer. Not that it made much of a difference. Still, I just wanted him to be warm when he died. Comfortable. The way my brother never got to, nor my parents, nor me during my five minutes of death when I had coded in the emergency room after the helicopter accident.

Death isn't comfortable.

I choked on air and suddenly the gates of tears opened and I cried.

He's dead.

He's gone.

Chase is gone.

I think Adam realized it too when he screamed at his sister, "I'm the worst brother ever. All I ever did was punch him and make fun of him. I never even told him I loved him."

"Me neither." I whispered, so quietly I was sure no one had heard.

"Oh, no." Giselle pouted, "What a shame. You arrived too late."

Anger filled Adam and he screamed, "I will destroy you for what you did to him!"

Turning around to look at Giselle, I quickly wiped my tears away and glared. Letting go of his hand, I let them both engulf themselves in powerful plasma blasts, ready to be used.
She didn't care for Adam's outburst and continued, "I'm so sorry for your loss. But why mourn your brother when you can join him?"

Pressing on her watch, the doors opened behind us revealing another android. I pulled up my hands, ready to fire when...

...

he fell.

Chase stood behind him, a small smirk on his lips as he spoke walking towards us, "Yeah. Join me in kicking your butt."

Safe to say, I was confused.

"Chase!" Bree exclaimed, running into his arms.

Adam joined as well sighing happily, "You're alive!" Before he took a step back and glanced at the Chase look-a-like. "Wait, there's two of you. I'm having very mixed emotions right now." He then covered up the android quickly to stop any more tears from falling. I simply watched the have their moment and their tears. It didn't feel right stepping in.

"How is this possible?" Giselle asked.

"After you were gone, I used my molecular kinesis to redirect the android's blade to cut me free."

"Wait," Bree ejected, "Then who's on the table?"

"My android replica. Giselle was foolish enough to show me how she makes them. So I distracted her android, and I made one that looks like me. When he tried to take my chip out, I took him out."

"I don't know whether to kiss you or punch you." I whispered next to him, making sure no one else heard. He tried not to smile.

"Well done." She congratulated him, before reaching down to her watch, "But there's plenty more where he came from."

Suddenly, the four of us were surrounded by creepy human lookalike androids who stood besides each other like soldiers. At least until Leo and Douglas thankfully came to our rescue and shot all of them down with their gun.

Holding his head up, Leo dramatically informed her, "I guess androids aren't immortal after all."

"Technically, they're not dead," Douglas cut off, ruining his mojo, "just deactivated."

"It's a good line, just go with it."

"I thought I'd seen the last of you, Douglas." His ex spat out.

He frowned, "Yeah? Well, this time, I'm breakin' up with you." Holding out his gun, Douglas pointed it at her before troy came up from behind him and took it anyway.

"Troy, it's about time you got here. What are you waiting for? Take them out." She panicked.

Troy glared at her, "Oh, I will, but I'm taking you out first."

"What?' Giselle's eyes widened, "What are you doing?"

"Surviving. You were gonna get rid of me, so I'm gonna get rid of you. And once I do, I'll be in charge of all your androids."

"You?" She scoffed, "Please. No one's gonna take you seriously."

"Then I'll make them take me seriously. We won't just take out bionic humans. We'll take out all humans. Good-bye, Giselle."

In a last stitch effort to save herself, she ran behind Douglas and begged, "Save me, and I'll get coffee with you."

He actually looked to be considering it?

Fed up with Douglas, Leo pulled his arm and yelled, "Douglas!"

Shooting Giselle, Troy spat out, "Maybe now you'll take me seriously, human."
Chase yelled, "Get him!"

Running to jump him, all three went for it before Troy pulled Bree to his side and pulled out his gun at them. He snarled, "One more step and I'll waste her."

"Adam, use your blast wave." She yelled, trying to break her hold on him.

"No," Adam held his hand out in a cautious position as he told her slowly, "It'll take you out, too."

She looked at everyone sadly, "Troy has no regard for human life. If taking me out means saving others, then do it."

"I can't."

"He's gonna take me out anyway. You might as well take him out, too."

We stared at her fearfully as Leo confirmed the worst,, "She's right."

"They don't have the guts." Troy scoffed, so sure of his own life.

I stepped forward, pulling Adam back behind me, "I'll do it."

Troy was right about one thing, they wouldn't be able to do it. Not to their own sister. Even though she was mine too, I could live with this guilt. They on the other hand, couldn't. And they knew that.

I pulled out my hands forward, ready to do so, Leo following after along with Adam and Chase.

It was then Troy backed away from the faucet in a panic and almost instantly she ducked his head into the water and whispered slyly, "You owe me a swim."

She smiled at her siblings before being hit with one of Adam's blast and she fell onto the ground hard.

Douglas yelled, "Adam!"

"What?" He asked, "I thought we were doing this."

Chase smacked his brother's chest before they all ran over to help her up from the ground. "That was amazing." He cheered, "How did you know to do that?"

"I finally realized why Troy didn't like water. Old androids must be like cell phones. Sophisticated technology, but if you drop it in water, it's ruined."

"Wait," Adam paused, "So does this mean the role in Bionic Action Hero is up for grabs?"

"Wait. Where did Giselle go?" Chase asked.

Stomping his foot, Douglas pouted, "Oh, man. The good ones always get away." Realizing everyone was glaring at him, he corrected, "I mean; Oh, no!"

That's when Leo, Douglas, Bree and I left the room as Adam and Chase stayed, having their brotherly moment.

Before we left the building though, I pulled bree into a hug and whispered, "I was debating whether or not I should throttle you around but you've been through a lot today."

She smiled and pulled back, "Thanks...for that. And thank you for coming. You really didn't need to."

I scoffed, "And let the Loogy Queen die? What kind of subject would I be if I had done that."

"You remember?" She asked, her eyes widening, "Since when?"

"Hey!" Leo called out, "It's a long way home from here. C'mon people! I need to eat."

I laughed as Bree glared at him but we walked after him other wise.

"Chase, I'm sorry. I can't believe I trusted Troy just because he was cute." She apologized, before drifting off, "And tall...and ripped..."

I nodded, stealing a fry, "True that."

Adam rolled his eyes, clearly uncomfortable, "Yeah, well, now he's mangled, melted and dead."

"Hey," Douglas cut in, "What's important is that everyone's okay. Yeah, Giselle is still out there, but without her androids, she's powerless. She's got nothin' left."

"You staying?" Leo asked as he saw me make my way to the Hydra Loop.

I shrugged, "I can...but there's a reason I pay for on campus living."

"You better come visit me." he scolded, "You ditched me the last time."

"I wasn't in my right state of mind Leo."

"Sure, Miss Harvard."

I glared, "Shut up."

Leo smiled and made his way out just as Chase had walked in casually. "So," He smirked, "About that kiss-"

He didn't have time to finish before I punched his gut.He let out a deep breath, "I see you went with the punch."

I shook my head before raising his face to mine and gave his a small kiss. He looked a bit stunned, even more so when I scolded, "You fake die on me again Davenport, I will personally end you for real."

Chase rolled his eyes, "Sure you will." Before pulling me in his arms and giving me another goodbye kiss.
