Kari, a small girl with brown hair, a blue eye, a cyan eye, and somewhat pale skin, had always been nocturnal. Her cat side was very active, and it made her more tired in the day than at night. Even with this, she was always awake early in the mornings, to help take care of her brothers. She took care of them during the night, and she helped out during the day, helping them with their homeschool, doing chores, and making food. Her parents worked hard. Her mom was a secretary, and her dad was a carpenter. They got money for them all to live.

Kari's brothers, James (nicknamed Bubble) and Kat (nicknamed ginger), were  both younger than her.

Bubble was taller than her. He had tan skin, pale blue eyes, white hair, and white ears and tail with black spots. He was usually in a t-shirt and shorts. He was very energetic, but he trusted others too quickly, so Kari was always watching out for him. Ginger was slightly shorter than her. He had pale skin because he wasn't usually outside, an orange eye and a grayish-orange eye, ginger hair, and reddish-orange ears and tail. He was usually in a sweater too big for him and comfortable jeans. He was very shy, and he had a birth defect that caused him to be blind in one eye, small, and frail, so Kari was always careful to not harm him.

Their parents, Tom and Hope, were amazing parents, even though they were busy during the day.

Hope, their mother, had a slightly tan skin color, with orange-brown hair, brownish-red ears and tail, and a blind grey eye as well as a normal blue-green eye.

Tom had a normal skin color, with white hair, ears, and tail, and orange eyes.

The five lived happily, until one fateful day...
