The light hit Zak's eyes, ushering him out of his slumber and into the physical world. He rolled his eyes and stretched, a yawn escaping his mouth. He winced slightly as he tried to move his head— he had a sore neck from all the stress that had built up from last night.
Ugh... why is my neck hurting so bad? I didn't sleep in a much different position than I normally do...
Suddenly, he remembered why he had been so stiff last night.
He quickly reached for his phone that laid on his copper brown nightstand and scrolled down his notifications to see if Bad had said anything to him while he was asleep. He had 5 missed calls and a voicemail.
Skeppy's heart sunk as he saw the voicemail. I'm such an idiot for leaving my phone on silent, he thought to himself.
He tapped on the voicemail, stumbling to put it on speaker.
"Hello? Oh. Hey Skeppy, I just wanted to tell you that my phone died last night and there was a major power outage in my area so I had no way of communicating back. Don't worry. Call me back or, like, text me whenever you get this message.. err, voicemail."
Towards the end, Bad began stumbling on his own words. Zak sighed in relief; his anxious thoughts starting to flutter away like wind carrying ash far away from a fire.
I'm glad he's not upset. I don't know what I would've done if I we'd never talk again.
Still, a lingering feeling of distrust caused Skeppy to purse his lips, but he managed to shake it off.
It's okay. Nothing's wrong. Trust him when he says he's fine with it.
He closed his eyes and let out a strong sigh, allowing his mind to stay idle for a while as his consciousness swam through the tides of nothingness.
The stillness of the air might've made anyone feel like they were being suffocated, but Zak embraced it. His mind had longed for an extended amount of peace; an escape from the overwhelming amounts of new colors he was beginning to experience.
Soon after, Zak opened his eyes slowly, letting his pupils adjust to the light levels in the room. Once his eyes were accustomed, he turned on his phone and checked the time.
14 minutes had passed since he had gone into the strangely comforting abyss. He raised his eyebrows in shock; not only did it feel like time passed by faster than usual, but he also felt strangely joyous.
As his lips upturned into a small smile, he glanced at his lock screen subconsciously, his eyes widening.
His rainbow lock screen wasn't only red, orange and yellow anymore— now both green and blue were visible.
