Chapter 1 the Mushroom
This house always annoyed me it was beautiful, luxurious, with gorgeous things inside organized so perfectly, it was awful.
She also has acres of land that she inherited from her grandmother who lived in this house before her. This house have been in the family for a century, it was a medium sized cottage. She decided to paint it a light pink that had long faded to be a more grayish color. Also Ivy now climbed the walls and gave it a rustic appearance.
Nonetheless, I cared about what was outside the house. The garden. It was like walking into a different dimension. It was acres of land that was filled with secrets and magic. The legend in my family is that ever female Eclipse has added her own addition to the garden.
Everyday my grandmother works in the garden to continue her additions. It's like her religion. And now that I'm living with her for the summer she is teaching me how to nourish this garden and continue the tradition after she is gone.
"Luna, dinner is going to be ready in 20 minutes dear. Be sure to come in soon!" My grandmother called out from the back patio.
I tucked a lock of dark brown hair behind my ear and began skipping down one of the many stone paths into the garden.
I hopped around the garden not really regarding anything, I just looked at some of the prettiest flowers. As I was examining a beautiful Daffodil, I noticed a creepy little gnome that was hidden underneath a patch of flowers, it's stone face stared me down, causing me to shiver.
It was starting to get late, all of the lights along the garden paths were going to turn on soon.
So I left the creepy little gnome in his Daffodil home, but I felt as if someone or something was watching me.
I continued my walk down the stone when I heard a impish giggle to my left, I snapped my head it the direction the voice was coming from.
"Who is there!" I called out, while bending down to pick up a pair of gardening shears left in the dirt, for protection.
I heard a rustling to my right and lifted the shears for protection. "I-I'm armed and dangerous!" I stuttered.
On top of one of my grandmother's ceramic mushrooms the Gnome now laid on his stomach holding a white daffodil to his nose, as if he was smelling it. He was smirking too in a taunting way. I charged over there about to do something very irrational, but then I stopped because I noticed the water that normally came out clear from the mushrooms along the path was coming out florescent blue. If you didn't know the mushrooms were fountains.
I hear the giggle again, I narrowed my eyes at the gnome, "I don't know what you are doing but stop." I said threw gritted teeth. He just stared at me with cold stone eyes.
I move closer to the fountain so I am on my knees and face to face with the Gnome. I stare at him for awhile, with my teeth gritted I growled, "Do it again. I. Dare. You." He stared back at me with dead eyes.
"Drink me. Drink me. Drink me." A thousand voices all spoke to me at once. They were high pitched like the tiniest creatures were speaking.
"Drink me, Drink me, Drink me!" The voices were overwhelming now, I break my gaze with the gnome and clutch me ears in an attempt to cease the noise.
"Drink me!"
It was as if the blue water was prompting me to taste it! I roll my head to see that the Gnomes eyes were glowing green.
I grit my teeth, my head was starting to pound from all of the noise. Maybe a drink wouldn't hurt. I clutched my ears and climbed into the fetal position as an attempt to drown out the voices. It was becoming overwhelming, I felt my hands moving towards the strange water. NO STOP, i-I can't do this....
Then a demonic smile crept onto my face as the voices got louder and louder and I felt myself giggle. And all thoughts of avoiding this drink disappeared.
Ya just one drink, it won't hurt. I thought to myself.
I cupped my hands together and let them fill with the florescent water.
I let the cool water touch my lips. Down the hatch, I thought and swallowed all of the liquid.
It was sweet but very bitter, like dark chocolate. The voices ceased to exist and I heard the chimes blow in the wind.
I lay there on the rock path, my dark mocha hair spread around my head like a a blob of darkness. While breathing heavily. My eye lids begin to feel very heavy, and the world spins.
The last thing I see is the Gnomes glowing green eyes.
