Ch. 9 Bullshit! I thought you were an only child!
At the Thermopolis's residence, Mia and Lilly stepped out of the house and walked towards their scooters.
" Should we even be using our scooters to go to the mall?" Mia asked, looking and sounding curious.
" Yes! These electric Scooters are environmentally friendly vehicles. We cannot use cars and buses because they pollute this poor planet! How many times do I have to remind you, Mia?" Lilly defensively asked Mia.
" And besides, you do not have a vehicle or license to drive us to the mall. And you do not have that much money to pay the bus driver to take us to the mall," Lilly bluntly tells Mia.
Mia akwardly laughs as she puts her black purse over her head and onto her left shoulder. She then grabs her helmet, and she puts it on her head. After making sure it got secured, she then puts on a maroon-colored button sweater to keep herself warm.
" Are you ready?" Mia softly asked Lilly.
" I am ready!" Lilly gives Mia a thumbs up.
Mia nods her head in response as she and Lilly grabbed their scooters, and they walked onto the road in front of the Thermopolis's residence. The two teens then got on their scooters as they drive away and head towards their next destination, the mall, Westfield San Francisco Centre.
Two hours and a half later, Mia and Lilly safely arrived at Westfield San Francisco Centre. The two teens looked at their surroundings as they carefully parked their electric scooters on the bike section. They then unlocked their helmets and took them off from their heads.
" So, what exactly do you want to tell me?" Lilly asked Mia as the two teens put their helmets on their electric scooters, and they made sure to secure it with a lock.
" I will tell you when we go to the food court, get something to eat and drink, and then sit down," Mia responds to Lilly, and the two teens walk away from their electric scooters.
Mia and Lilly entered the mall, and they see that the place is crowded, but not too crowded since it is only Sunday.
" Onward to the food court!" Lilly shouts as she grabs Mia's arm, and the two teens begin to walk through the crowd to the food court.
Mia shyly looked at her surroundings after Lilly shouted since she felt embarrassed, thinking that cute boys would be staring at them oddly for Lilly's unique behavior.
Many minutes later, Mia and Lilly finally reached the food court as they stood there, thinking where they should go and get something to eat and drink.
" What about Chipotle?" Mia curiously asked Lilly.
" Their burritos make me gassy," Lilly mumbled to Mia.
" Panda Express?"
" I remember getting a rash after eating something from there."
" Sarku Japan?"
" Ever since I heard from the news that a rat fell onto their food from the ceiling, just thinking about it makes me sick."
" Starbucks?"
" Too much caffeine is not good for us."
Mia annoying rolled her chocolate brown eyes at Lilly's response.
' It's my birthday, so I am going to get myself a Starbucks!' Mia mentally shouted, feeling and looking determined to get something to drink at Starbucks.
" Pasta Moto? I have been craving Italian lately," Mia softly speaks to Lilly.
" Sure. It is your birthday," Lilly shrugged.
Mia beamed, feeling glad that for once that Lilly has agreed on something that she, herself, likes.
" Okay! Lilly, you find us a table while I get my food and drink first," Mia excitedly tells Lilly as she walks away from her best friend.
Lilly opened her mouth to say something, but she stops when she sees Mia speed walking away from her to Pasta Moto.
" Fine. I will get ourselves a table," Lilly mumbled as she warily stared at the food court tables since she is aware that most or all the tables got contaminated with germs and whatnot due to different people sitting there throughout the day.
At Pasta Moto, Mia stepped inside, and she stands behind a stranger as she silently stared at the menu above her.
" Hm. What should I get?" Mia asked herself.
A few minutes later, a voice calls out to Mia, grabbing the young teen's attention. She looks forward, and she sees the cashier stared at her.
" Are you ready to order?" The cashier boredly asked Mia.
Mia akwardly laughs as she nods her head, and she walks up to the cashier.
" Um. May I-May I get a Panino Verdue special with a side of Classic Caesar Salad and no drink, please? To go, of course!" Mia nervously tells the cashier.
The cashier boredly nods their head as they typed Mia's order, and they then looked at her.
" $10. 25," The cashier informed Mia.
" Ah! Okay," Mia nervously grabs her black purse, and she opens it, feeling glad that her part-time summer job helping teaching people to rock climb at a GYM paid off, and now she can afford to get something to eat and drink for her sixteenth birthday.
" Here you go," Mia gives the cashier a twenty-dollar bill, and in return, they gave her a $9.75 change.
" We will give you your food shortly. Please, stand to the side," The cashier motioned Mia to stand to the opposite side of the restaurant.
Mia kindly nods her head as she closed her black purse, and she then walks to the other side of the restaurant.
Mia stood there as she turns and silently stared at the food court, and she smiled, feeling and looking relieved when she sees Lilly sitting on a two-seater table.
A few minutes later, a voice calls out, grabbing Mia's attention.
" Who ordered the Panino Verdue special with a side of Classic Caesar Salad and no drink?" A male voice calls out.
" I did!" Mia shouts in response as she walks up to the employee, and she grabs the bag.
" Thank you," Mia kindly smiled as she turns around, and she walks out.
" Alright. Might as well go to Starbucks and get me something to drink," Mia whispers, feeling determined to try a Starbucks drink for once now that she is sixteen.
Mia walked through the crowd to Starbucks, and she opens the door as she steps inside. She glanced at the menu as she tries to figure out what she should get to drink.
However, Mia didn't expect to bump into her high school classmate and crush, fifteen-year-old dirty blonde-haired and blue-eyed Josh Bryant, who held drinks in his hands.

" Um! I am so sorry," Mia mumbled and apologize as her chocolate brown eyes widened when she sees Josh is looking at her.
" It's cool," Josh merely tells Mia, not recognizing his classmate since she isn't wearing their school uniform.
Mia internally panics, feeling and looking surprised that she bumped into Anthony R. Grove High School's most handsome popular guy at the mall's Starbucks.
" Great-Great!" Mia stuttered as she flushed, feeling and looking embarrassed.
" Oh, Joshy! The guys and I have been waiting for our drinks. Where are you?-Four eyes! What are you doing here?" A familiar feminine voice screeched at Josh and Mia.
Mia and Josh turned their gaze, seeing their classmate and Anthony R. Grove High School's most beautiful popular girl, fifteen-year-old blonde-haired and Hazel-eyed Lana Thomas, entering Starbucks.

" Um. The mall is public property," Mia bluntly tells Lana.
Lana flushed, looking and feeling annoyed by Mia's presence. The blonde-haired female then walks up to Josh, and she hugs her arm.
" Joshy! Let's go, our friends, the popular rich kids are waiting for us," Lana firmly tells Josh and Mia as the two teens walk out of Starbucks.
Mia annoyingly rolled her chocolate brown eyes as she silently watched Lana and Josh leave Starbucks.
" Oh, Joshy, this. Oh, Joshy, that," Mia mocks Lana's voice.
" When will Josh learns that he is so better off from Lana, who acts like she is the Queen of our school," Mia mumbled as she looks away, and she begins to walk towards the cashier to order her Starbucks drink.
Thirty minutes later, Mia finally gets her drink, a Grande Iced Caramel Macchiato with Almond Milk since she is allergic to regular dairy milk.
Mia proudly walks out of Starbucks with her drink in one hand and her food in the other. She happily walks towards her and Lilly's table.
" Hey, Lilly! I'm back," Mia cheerfully responded.
Lilly was looking through something from her cell phone when she hears her name. She lifts her head, and her blue eyes widened when she sees a Starbucks cup in one of Mia's hands.
" Mia! Why do you have that with you?" Lilly sternly asked Mia while pointing at the Starbucks cup.
" Lils. Remember, it's my sixteenth birthday. I want to try something from Starbucks at least," Mia mumbled as she sits down across from Lilly.
" Oh! Since it is your birthday, you want to follow the crowd?" Lilly asked Mia.
" Lils," Mia mumbled.
" So, would you want to get a tattoo, or a piercing, or jump off the Golden State Bridge if you saw someone do that?" Lilly asked with a raised eyebrow.
Mia softly groaned as she begins to take a sip of her Starbucks drink.
" It's not even that bad, Lils. Sure it's bitter because of the coffee, but the caramel and Almond milk helps it taste a bit sweeter," Mia tells Lilly.
Lilly annoyingly rolled her blue eyes.
" I will be back. I am going to get something nutritional to eat and drink," Lilly firmly tells Mia as she stands up and walks away from the other teen.
Thirty minutes later, Lilly returns to their table with a salad and a Kombucha drink.
" What's that?" Mia asked while pointing at Lilly's drink.
" Kombucha," Lilly merely tells Mia.
" What does it have?" Mia asked with a raised eyebrow.
" Kombucha is a fermented, lightly effervescent, sweetened black or green tea drink commonly consumed for its purported health benefits," Lilly explained while looking at Mia as though she is an idiot.
Mia akwardly laughs, and she lightly bites her lips when she recalled what her mother, Helen, told her.
" Hey," Mia whispered as she begins to eat her food.
" Yes?" Lilly responded as she begins to eat her food.
" Um. I just found out that my Dad passed away today," Mia softly tells Lilly.
Lilly, horrifying, stared at Mia.
" Mia! I am so sorry. Do you know what happened?" Lilly softly asked Mia.
Mia sadly shakes her head.
" No. All mom said is that Dad died. I don't even know of what," Mia mumbled.
Lilly sadly frowned, feeling terrible for what Mia is going through.
" Not only that, it turns out, I have an older twin sister," Mia informed Lilly.
" Bullshit! I thought you were an only child!" Lilly softly shouts at Mia.
" I thought so too, but Mom said that after she and Dad got divorced. She took me while my Dad took my older twin sister," Mia explained to Lilly.
Lilly couldn't believe what she is hearing. The dark brown-haired female then frowned as she leans towards Mia.
" Mia. I should be careful if I were you," Lilly whispers.
Mia raised an eyebrow as she stared at Lilly with a confused expression.
" That girl maybe your twin sister, but who knows, what if she is a criminal or something," Lilly mumbled while looking at Mia with a concerned expression.
" Lilly. Aurora is my older twin sister. I should at least meet and get to know her before I judge her," Mia firmly tells Lilly, already feeling protective of her older sibling.
" And I am your best friend that you have known since Kinder! I am only looking out for your well-being because I care about you!" Lilly defensively responded to Mia.
Mia stays quiet as she continues to eat and drink her lunch, feeling and looking curious and worried about meeting her long-lost older twin sister.
