The Carefree Three (3)
'Why don't you guys go ahead? I'm on my way to work,' Hyun told his daughter.
'Daddy, when will I start my training?'
'This evening.'
'Thanks, Father.'
'You're welcome Mi.'
'Bye Father. Have a good day! '
'Sure will.' Hyun kissed Kyung's head and left.
HONK!
HONK!
'Oh, dear. As if he was waiting for Uncle to leave,' SeoYeon frowned.
'How annoying Pftt,' Kyung remarked.
'Let's go otherwise you might end up getting yourselves pissed off,' SangHoon advised.
Oh well. Let's get going,' Kyung said and they went to the car.
'Good morning kids,' their driver, Jaehyun, greeted in his usual respectful manner.
'Good morning, Jaehyun,' three of them greeted respectfully.
They got into the car and Jaehyum drove them to school.
SeoYeon, the younger girl, was a replica of her mother, SooJi. She was also tall but she had her mother's delicate round face, red lips, long blonde hair, and cat-like brown eyes.
Thus, three of them blended perfectly both in the physical and behavioral aspects.
Soon, they arrived at Seoul Jaedong Elementary School, Seoul.
Seoul Jaedong Elementary School is one of the best private schools in Seoul. Classy and well-graded, it is very competitive and is the dream of every parent to have his/her child in the school. As such, though they lived in the barracks, Kyung Mi, SeoYeon and SangHoon went to the prestigious school.
They climbed the stairs, chatting when someone called in front of them.
'SangHoon! Over here!' It was Chu-Hwa, SangHoon's classmate.
'Hey there!' SangHoon shouted back.
'Kyung, Oppa, I've reached my classroom, see you later,' SeoYeon said, going to her classroom.
'Ah, my classroom is over there. See you later Oppa,' Kyung said and skipped to her class.
'Be careful,' SangHoon said and strode off to his classroom.
In school, they were very brainy. Kyung had an exceptionally high IQ which made her stand out among her mates and even those above her. She also had an extraordinarily high EQ. This helped her greatly in taking control of her feelings and adapting to the fact that she was without a mother at such a young age.
SeoYeon was among the top three in her class. In such a highly competitive school, she could be regarded as a genius. However, as the youngest of the three, she had babish behavior.
SangHoon, on the other hand, was an excellent student. Though they were in different grades, SangHoon was only slightly higher in IQ than Kyung Mi. As the eldest of the three, he had leadership skills.
At Lunch Break,
SeoYeon and Kyung Mi went to the school cafeteria holding their lunch boxes.
'I wonder what happened today. Oppa didn't come to lunch with us,' SeoYeon said.
'I don't know why. Perhaps he is stuck in class, learning only God-knows-what,' Kyung replied.
'It's possible,' SeoYeon paused. 'We should do and get him.
'If we don't see Oppa before school ends, we'll go and look for him. What do you think?' Kyung suggested.
SeoYeon nodded. 'That's a good idea besides I'm hungry,' she rubbed her stomach. They both laughed it off.
'Where are you going to SeoYeon?' a chubby girl with shoulder-length hair walked up to them and asked.
'To the cafeteria,' Yeon smiled. 'What about you?'
'Same direction,'she humored.
'You know her?' Kyung asked casually.
'Yeah. She's Nara, my classmate.'
'Kyung.' Someone tapped her shoulder. She turned.
'Min-Hu. So you finally quit the play and decided to feed your stomach first, huh?' Kyung teased her.
Min-Hu rolled her eyes. 'I wasn't playing. Hyeong pranked me and took my pencil. I had to get it back. Instead of giving it to me, he started running with it. Anyways, I got it from him,' she waved her pencil at Kyung.
'Good!' Kyung commended.
'We'll see some of our classmates in the cafeteria, will you join them?' Min-Hu asked.
'Yes,' Kyung answered.
They reached the cafeteria and they took different seats with their classmates. Kyung Mi, Min-Hu and a few of her classmates on one table, SeoYeon, Nara and some other of her classmates on another table. They had their lunch, chatting about many things.
Lunch break over, they dispersed to their classes.
At dismissal, Kyung and SeoYeon spotted SangHoon coming out of his class amidst boisterous shouts of "goodbyes" and "see you tommorrows" from his classmates. They watched him, hands across their chests, unsmiling. When SangHoon saw their expressions, he instantly knew that he was in trouble. He quickly walked up to them. Fortunately for him, the driver was yet to arrive.
'Hey... '
'Cut the chase, Oppa. Where were you at lunchtime?' Kyung asked sternly. SangHoon was taken aback.
'Oppa where were you the whole time? We waited for you to come, all you could do was starve us,' SeoYeon said with teary eyes.
'Wait... What? You mean you didn't have lunch today?
SangHoon felt extremely guilty. He had enough to do in class so he couldn't take them to the cafeteria.
The guilt. That was just what the two miscreants, Kyung Mi and SeoYeon, wanted. Though they were hurt that he didn't come during lunch break, they exaggerated it.
'Don't act like a fool. We wouldn't possibly go hungry because you didn't come around. Besides, we had company,' Kyung Mi let out.
I'm so sorry girls. I promise it won't happen another time. Promise,' SangHoon stuck out his pinky.
Kyung Mi and SeoYeon looked at each other and sighed.
'That's a promise, right?' SeoYeon repeated.
SangHoon nodded. 'Of course little sister.'
'Why don't we do this. Anytime you're stuck in class or you want to hang out with your friends, don't come. We'll take it as a signal. Besides, we're not boys. What do you think?' Kyung proposed.
'You talk like a grown-up already. I buy it,' SangHoon accepted.
'Sounds good. We don't have to wait eternally for someone who is not coming anyway,' SeoYeon teased her brother.
'Anyway, thanks guys...'
HONK!
The car stopped right in front of them.
'Hop in children!' Jaehyun smiled at them.
'Hurray!'
They jumped in and went home.
Home sweet home.
