The day of the trial came.
The cell keeper, a male crolute, enjoyed hitting his prisoners, and Vona's face was a mess of cuts and bruises.
Her lip was sore from the split in it, and she couldn't open one eye.
And yet, when she was led out onto the platform with the First Order barriers she'd seen the day before, her head was high.
The entire concrete area was filled with neat ranks of stormtroopers.
Rank upon rank marched into place, farther than Vona could see with her good eye.
There were three stormtroopers on either side of the girl, and a line of twenty stood at a diagonal, slightly to her left and behind her.
The two stormtroopers holding onto her pushed her forwards onto a low platform as a technician set up a hologram recorder.
Before she could wonder what it was for, Hux stood before her.
"State your name for the record," he said, his voice amplified over the whole assembly.
"Captain Vona Day."
"Vona Day, you are charged with impersonation of a First Order officer, deception of a First Order officer, assault of a First Order officer, attempted assassination, and spying. What do you say?"
She stayed silent, staring at Hux.
"Do you admit to your crimes?"
"I do."
The red-headed General looked at Kylo Ren, who nodded slowly.
"For your crimes, Vona Day, you have been sentenced to execution. However, you will be given the option to join us, and to go through an intensive reconditioning program as a First Order worker."
"No."
Hux motioned to the six stormtroopers, and they pulled her back to a short pillar.
After binding her to it with electric cuffs, the stepped back. The twenty stormtroopers moved into position.
Vona took a deep breath.
This was it.
This was it.
She'd failed.
She'd failed Irving.
She'd failed him.
And yet...
She'd see him.
He was there.
Waiting.
A smile cracked her lip farther.
"See you on the other side," she whispered, barely a breath.
Vona lifted her head, watched the clouds roll in, ready to snow again.
Hux restated her crimes, and lifted his hand.
She didn't turn her head to look at it, just looking over the stormtroopers heads.
The row of troopers raised their blasters, and they whirred to life.
Just before Hux's hand dropped, Vona yelled, "The Resistance!"

Just a quick word:
I'm sorry, huxscat and skywalkerflowercrown, for killing off your characters. It's nothing personal, I promise.
But also, this. Is. A. War. And sorry to break it to you, but people die in wars.
I see too often in books and movies, wars that result in deaths only on the other side, and those that do lose troops never really lose any named characters.
So again, sorry for killing them, but there's the explanation.
Oh, and another thing: the prison guard is a crolute, the same species as Unkar Plutt, just so you have a visual.
I also made Vona on an avatar creator
