Chapter 8 - 1.2: Are you asking me out on a date?
Third person P.O.V:
"Ro yaar! What's wrong with you? Why are you making this such a big deal? You didn't even kiss her," Rohan mentally lectured himself.
Abhi shook him lightly, bringing Rohan back to the present.
"Kya?" (What?) Rohan asked.
"Since when have you started calling 'khatta nimbo' by her name?" Abhi asked with a smile still playing on his lips, his eyebrows raised slightly as he air quoted 'khatta nimbo.'
Rohan rolled his eyes.
Ignoring Abhi's question he started screaming, "Argh, I think I've broken my nose!" As he spoke the words, he sneaked a quick glance at Abhi's face.
Abhi's lips had set in a thin line, he narrowed his eyes at Rohan as he rested his hands on his hips.
"Acha, ab tujhe apni naak yaad aayegi?" (Oh, so now you remember your nose?) Abhi asked, he knew Rohan was avoiding his questions.
Rohan screamed louder, although Abhi hadn't bought it he dropped the subject. "Come on drama queen, let's go home," he said and dragged Rohan out of Sports direct with him.

It was time for dinner when the boys got back, Abhi joined Rohan and Mrs Nanda at the dining table and they began eating.
Abhi looked at the fish before him. A smirk etched onto his lips as he looked up, "Aunty, can I have some lemon?" He asked Mrs Nanda.
She smiled at him sweetly before going to the kitchen, she came back with a plate full of lemon pieces and placed them beside Abhi, he thanked her.
Abhi picked one up and sprinkled it onto his fish, then he picked up another one. He could see Rohan staring at him from the corner of his eye, he turned to face him and extended the lemon in his hand towards him, Rohan shook his head.
Abhi replicated his action then gasped, "You don't like lemons? Wow, I love them! The sour the better," he winked at Rohan.
Rohan knew where this was going, he put his head down and avoided looking at Abhi.
Ayesha's P.O.V:
I had already eaten so I came upstairs while everyone else had their dinner. I snuggled into my duvet as thoughts of earlier floated through my mind.

As Ayesha walked out of the lift a triumphant smile caressed her lips, her eyes twinkled as they wandered over to the rack of clothes, searching for her mum, hoping to find her behind one of the racks.
Her eyes fell onto the packet in her hand, there was a double chocolate chip cookie left in the packet; she decided to give it back to Rohan as she had eaten the majority of his cookies. She turned around and looked down the aisle she had been walking along just seconds ago.
"He must have gone by now," she thought, but her eyes continued to search for him.
She had given up on him when she recognised a Rohan-like figure standing outside the lift, he had his back facing Ayesha.
She slowly made her way over to him, when she was standing behind him she took a deep breath and reached out to tap the guy on his shoulder, her fingers shook as they neared him, she was an inch off when she pulled her hand back.
"What if this isn't Rohan? God, that would be so embarrassing. Ayesha, shut up and just do it; you wanted to give him the cookie, now give it to him."
Ayesha scowled.
She closed her eyes to avoid thinking too much and gently tapped his shoulder.
"Please be Rohan, please," she chanted with closed eyes and crossed fingers.
She opened her right eye, as she realised he was turning around she opened her left eye too. Her hands were still in midair, she quickly tucked them down beside her and straightened herself while she waited for him to face her.
"Turn already so this can be over, please?" Ayesha murmured impatiently as she waited to see if it was Rohan.
After what seemed like hours, he turned around and Ayesha let out a breath of relief as she saw it was Rohan; he could barely keep his eyes open. She waved her hand in front of his face but he shut his eyes.
"Has he completely lost it?" Ayesha wondered.
"Rohan?" She called to him in a singsong voice but there was no response. She slapped his cheek ever so lightly and a grin appeared, brightening his entire face.
Rohan brought his hand to his cheek and caressed the tears away, he was in his own dreamworld.
Ayesha could see her mum in the distance behind Rohan, she took a last look at him and giggled before leaving him there.

I picked up the cushion beside me and hugged it against my chest as I rolled onto my side. I don't know why but I couldn't stop smiling; I rubbed my cheeks, they were beginning to ache from all the smiling.
I closed my eyes and tried to fall asleep but my efforts were in vain, I was craving some ice cream and my mind wasn't willing to switch off until I'd had some. I leapt out of bed, throwing the cushion aside I went downstairs; my mum and Hussain were chatting and chuckling away.
I went and sat on the sofa opposite them, "Mum, can we go to the McDonald's drive thru; I really want some ice cream," I asked with a grin that could reach my ears.
Hussain answered for her, "We can't go, dad's parked his car in front of mine and he's gone to sleep. Isn't there some in the freezer?"
I shook my head, "I'll take you tomorrow," Hussain promised, I gave him a small smile and got up.
Abhimanyu's P.O.V:
After twenty minutes of tossing and turning, I gave up on trying to sleep. Tired and frustrated I called out to Rohan, "Rohan, so gaya kya?" (Rohan, are you sleeping?) I asked him.
He didn't answer, he must have fallen asleep.
Third person P.O.V:
Abhimanyu picked up his phone from beside his pillow and started scrolling through his contacts, he stopped at Ayesha's number.
For a second his thumb wandered over the screen, "What's the worst that can happen? She won't pick up," he thought to himself.
Not giving it another thought, he dialled the number; Ayesha picked up on the third ring, "Hello," she said in a sleepy voice.
"Did I wake you up?" Abhi asked, stating the obvious.
"Hmm," Ayesha mumbled.
"Sorry... Ok, bye," Abhi said quickly but didn't hang up.
"Ruko! Ab phone kar liya hai toh baat kar lete hain; batao, kya hua?" (Wait! Now that you've called, let's talk; what's up?) Abhi smiled and rolled onto his side, nearly falling off the top bunk in his excitement to talk to Ayesha.
"Woh, mujhe neend nahi aa rahi thi-" (I couldn't sleep) he said while ruffling his hair.
Ayesha cut him off, "Mujhe lori sunani nahi aati." (I don't know how to sing a lullaby.) She told him, her voice full of humour.
Abhi chuckled loudly; he quickly shoved his hand over his mouth when he remembered Rohan was sleeping on the bottom bunk.
He leaned out of his bed to check if he had woken him up but Rohan was fast asleep. He threw his head into the pillow and lied down, "No, I don't want you to sing me a lullaby. I just... wanted to talk," he said slowly.
"At two in the morning?" Ayesha shot back, Abhi could hear the smirk in her tone.
"Two? But it's only elev-" he stopped when he realised it was two o'clock.
"Wow, time flies."
"So... how was your day?" He asked with genuine interest.
"It was alright, I ran into Rohan when I was in Sports direct."
"Rohan?" Abhi asked, confusion filled his mind.
"Yeah, I'm guessing he didn't rant to you then?"
"Oh yeah, I remember now," Abhi lied.
I'll just have to ask him tomorrow morning, he thought to himself.
"I really want some ice cream," Ayesha murmured randomly.
"I would say let's go get some, but I doubt there'll be a shop selling ice cream at two in the morning..." Abhi paused a little then he asked her, "Are you doing anything tomorrow?"
"No idea, why?"
"I was thinking we could go to Treatz, I've heard they do great ice cream there and I've not been yet so maybe we can go together?" He asked slowly, weighing each word.
"Mr. Abhimanyu Singh, are you asking me out on a date?" Ayesha asked with a humorous gasp.
Abhi's cheeks flushed, he was blushing crimson.
"It can be if you want it to be," Abhi said in a flirtatious tone; he was thankful Ayesha couldn't see him, his cheeks were burning.
"I'd love to, but I'm actually going with my brother, sorry," Ayesha said, suddenly feeling guilty.
"It's cool, I understand," Abhi tried keeping the disappointment out of his voice, it wasn't ok but he didn't want to complicate things so he tried to understand.
"I think I'm going to sleep now, you must be tired too?"
"Yeah, good night..."
"...sweet dreams," Abhi said completing her sentence.
He ended the call and smiled at his phone before putting it aside.
Soon he fell asleep, the smile still lingering on his lips.
