Chapter 3 - 1.1: Maybe this book is exactly like its cover

Ayesha's P.O.V:

When I got to the Drama block I found Aayat sitting on the bench outside and I took a seat beside her, just then Ulfat appeared.

You've already met my best friend Aayat, let me introduce you to Ulfat. Ulfat's my little sister from another mister.

She's actually not much younger than me, just a few months but she's quite short compared to me, so sometimes I forget the difference.

I love teasing her; it's so much fun because her reactions are adorable.

I've barely known her for a year but she's already one of my closest friends. When I think back to the first time we met, I never could've imagined we'd be such great friends-

"Chalo!" (Let's go!) Aayat shouts in my ear as she pulls me up from the bench and slowly, I realise the bell's ringing. With that, it dawns upon me it's time for my second lesson of the day, Maths.

I reach class seconds before the teacher arrives. She unlocks the door and let's us in.

As I take my seat beside Tanya, Rohan walks in amongst the crowd of students. When I see him, I'm reminded of how wrong I was about Abhi and I decide to give Rohan another chance to change his impression in my eyes.

I think back to our little incident in year 7, when he had said he didn't want to flatter me by kissing my hand.

I realise, we've not interacted properly since then. I may be drooling over his new haircut but I've not forgotten what he said, it was completely uncalled for.

Which is why, even when he made small talk with me I just didn't respond and when I did, I would be quite snappy so our conversations never lasted. Thus I never got to know the real Rohan, but he must've changed in these last three years, don't you think?

Maybe he'll be more mature now?

By the time I've tucked my bag under the table he's here. He sits beside me and I struggle not to look at him. Due to my own curiosity, I'm forced to take sneaky little glances at him every now and then.

His hair is a dark shade of brown, nearing black. It looks very tempting and I want to run my fingers through his luscious locks. Which, till a few days ago, I thought were extremely unattractive. However, now that I take a closer look, it seems as though they'd feel utterly soft.

It's weird how someone's appearance or just their hair can make such a difference to how we look at them.

How I can go from being completely oblivious about him to paying attention to the smallest details of his appearance.

Ooh! And that cologne, it smells so nice.

"Dammit Ayesha! You need to stop giving this Rohan so much head space." A voice says out of nowhere.

"But, he smells yummy-" I say as I rest my cheek on my palm and stare into space.

"Ayesha." Again, the stern voice in my head reprimands me and I sit up, trying to focus on the teacher's lesson rather than daydreaming about Rohan.

I feel warm hands brush against the back of my cold ones and my mother's words of wisdom echo in my ears as a scrunched up ball of paper is stuffed into my palm.

"People with warm hands are faithful," she had once told me. I wonder how accurate that was?

I'm opening the ball of paper when Rohan holds my wrist and I snap my neck to the right to face him. He shakes his head and eyes the paper in my hands then Tanya, indicating for me to pass it to her.

I hear glass shatter and I wonder, "What just broke?"

Soon, I realise it was the hope I had. What made me think he was giving it to me? But if it's for her, why can't he just past it to her himself? I shove the paper back into his hand and say, "Give it to her yourself."

He thrusts it back into my hand and opens his mouth to say something but closes it again when the teacher shouts, "You two, take your flirting session outside."

I look at her to realise she's talking to us, my ears heaten and as I get up Rohan whispers in my ear, "No need to blush so much. If I had to flirt with someone, you'd be my last option."

My jaw definitely dropped when he said that, he's just so rude, urgh!

I walk out of the classroom, closely followed by Rohan.

Author's note:

~ So, Ayesha decided to give Rohan another chance but unlike Abhi, he's still the same. Maybe after all, he is what he seems like? Or maybe not? Only time will tell.

~ What did you guys think of this chapter?

~ And what do you think will happen once they're outside the classroom?

P. S. Thank you for all the ship name suggestions.

~ Kirren☺
