three [⭐️] black magic

Akuma Credit: @Miraculous_Nerd399 [Thank you so much!]

Adrien's POV

The class erupts in screams once we hear the loud crash coming from outside the classroom. I immediately feel Tikki flinch from inside my jacket. She's thinking the same exact thing I am. Akuma.

"What was that?" I shout, standing up from my seat.

Students run to the classroom window and look out into the school's courtyard. Nervous chatter is heard throughout the classroom, and that's a good enough answer for me.

The teacher stands up and claps her hands to get the class's attention. "Everyone, please remain calm! This is probably just another akuma attack. Please stay here and do-"

"An akuma?!" Alya squeaks with stars in her eyes. "Don't have to tell me twice! This is so gonna be good for my Ladyblog!"

"Alya, don't you dare go and-" The teacher begins, but quickly shuts her mouth when she realizes that Alya is already out the door and heading straight towards the danger. She just sighs in disapproval and places her hand on her forehead.

"I-I'll go check on her and bring her back!" I hear Marinette call out loudly from behind me.

Without waiting for a response, she quickly jumps out of her seat and sprints out of the classroom. The teacher looks at her in disbelief, with her mouth dropped to the floor. I silently cringe to myself, knowing that this is the best time to use as an excuse to run out of the classroom, but it's still going to be stressful for my teacher.

"I should go too. You know, more safety in numbers!" I say, tagging along with Marinette and running out of the classroom.

Sometimes I feel bad for my teacher. She doesn't get payed enough for this.

I slam the classroom door and sprint down the steps while looking straight ahead. A villain stands in the center of the school's courtyard with a nasty frown on her face. Her hands are replaced with drills, she has a hard hat on accompanied by overalls, and her red hair is tied up into a ponytail.

Without wanting her to see me, I quickly scramble away towards the janitors closet to transform. I open the door and gasp, jumping back from shock.

"Marinette?!"

The blunette looks at me with wide eyes and blinks twice. I awkwardly chuckle, mumble out an apology, and shut the door, running to a different spot to transform. Maybe she was hiding in the janitors closet because the akuma scared her? No, that wouldn't make sense. The classroom was just upstairs, if she wanted to hide, all she had to do was run a few more feet.

Maybe she wanted to watch Alya from a safe distant to make sure her friend wasn't hurt? No, she probably would have had the door cracked open and watching silently. When I walked in on her, she was standing up, and quiet frankly, looked slightly offended when I opened the door.

Unless... maybe she's -

"AHHHHH!"

I brush my concerns aside and sprint to the boys bathroom, hearing Alya's screams run though my head. I look both ways, checking for civilians, then smile a cat-like smile.

I pump my fist and say my transformation words. "Plagg, claws ou-"

"Adrien!" Tikki interrupts, reminding me.

I frown. "Oh yeah, sorry about that Tikki."

"It's okay," she reassures me, "but hurry and transform! Alya could be in real danger!"

I nod, and the tiny red kwami flies up by my face.

"Tikki, spots on!"

The bathroom flashes with a bright pinkish-red light. I look down at my arms and find a smile creeping up on my face. My hands are covered in the red latex-like material that I fought with last time. The material that reminds me so dearly of my lady.

I quickly burst out of the bathroom and start spinning my yo-yo, using it as a shield. I quietly gasp when I realize that Alya is talking face to face with the akumatized villain, like she didn't just scream and ear-piercing scream, with only her phone recording it's every move separating her from danger.

"What's your name?" Alya asks the akumatized victim.

"I am Jackhammer!" The woman calls out. "Your principal would only hire male construction workers because he didn't believe a woman could do the work! This is his payback! I will use my powers of construction to destroy his beloved school!"

Alya smirks. "Yeah, you know what? You do you, I'm not gonna stop you there. You have a point. Please continue."

I sigh.

"I'm afraid I'm going to have to stop you right there, Bob the builder!" I shout, spinning my yo-yo to my side.

"Chat Noir? Why do you have Ladybug's miraculous?" Alya calls out, turning her phone to face me with a confused look.

"Technical difficulties," I reply with a wink. "I'm temporarily going by Mister Bug -"

"- and I'm going by Lady Noir!"

I turn to my side and feel my cheeks heat up. "My lady, glad to see you here!"

My eyes scan her and a blush craws across my cheeks. Her long dark blue hair is down, no longer in a braid. Her eyes a glowing green. The skin suit is tight, hugging her body in just the right ways...

"Wouldn't miss it for the world, buggaboy," She quickly teases back.

"Hey!"

"No time to argue!" Lady Noir quickly interrupts, "Let's quickly beat this akuma and then switch our miraculouses back!"

"Of course my lady, you know best."

I sling my yo-yo towards the akuma as Lady Noir shoots her baton out, and we begin the battle.

Lady Noir's POV

"Quickly Mister Bug, grab her necklace!" I shout, trapped inside a metal jail.

We've been fighting this akuma for almost seven exhausting minutes now. The akuma has the power to rapidly build and create things, as well as destroy with the giant drills on her hands. On top of her drills on her hands are tiny cannons. They can shoot out concrete, nails, screws... whatever she needs. She can build whatever she wants as long as it comes out of those cannons.

I almost had her necklace, (where the akuma akumatized her) but she socked me in the jaw. I flew backwards, with my chin screaming from pain, and Jackhammer built a metal jail around me, leaving me trapped.

"On it, Lady Noir!" Mister Bug replies, slinging his yo-yo towards the ceiling and flying him upwards. He tries to land on top of her but she catches him in her hands, trapping him. She squeezes him tightly and I hear an un-earthly noise slip from Mister Bug's lips from shock.

"I'm gonna need a little more help, my l-lady!" Mister Bug chokes out with his eyes shut tight as Jackhammer squeezes him. "This akuma is annoying me beyond measure!"

I roll my eyes at his pun, but don't waste another second.

"Cataclysm!"

Black energy surrounds my hand and I smirk. I quickly slash the bars keeping me trapped, and in less than a second, they turn to ash. I jump out, spin my baton above my head, and slam it into Jackhammer's hand, freeing my partner.

He lands on the ground, then quickly jumps out to grab the necklace, which the akuma builds a concrete wall in front of her and Mister Bug runs right into it. I groan and facepalm myself.

"Aw, no construction puns for me, pesky bug?" Jackhammer taunts.

Mister Bug stands up and brushes the dirt off of his legs. "I would give you one, but I'm still working on it!"

I giggle. Okay, that was kinda a good one.

I look at Mister Bug and watch his every movement. My eyes trace his muscular legs, his fluffy blond hair, his bright green eyes... I feel my cheeks turn pink and I immediately look away, placing my hands on my hot cheeks. What is happening to me?! I've never, ever liked Mister Bug...

Why am I feeling this way?!

"Lucky charm!" He calls out, snapping me out of my deep thoughts.

"A slingshot?" I ask as the polka-dotted slingshot falls into his hands.

He looks around, most likely looking to see how he can use it. I trust him, and turn around, spinning my baton to protect him.

"Your little slingshot isn't going to help you!" Jackhammer calls out, shooting concrete balls out of her cannons.

I glare and spin my baton in front of me, shredding the concrete into tiny pebbles when they reach the shield, protecting Mister Bug and I. I smirk. I could get use to this.

"That's it!" I hear him call from behind me.

I whip my head around to him, and give him a confused look. He points towards the ground. I look and find it littered with tiny pebbles from the concrete ball I just destroyed.

He smiles confidently. "Pick up as many as you can!"

Without wasting time, I drop to the ground and start shoveling the tiny rocks into my hands, and give it to my partner. He quickly drops them in the slingshot, pulls the sling back, and sends the pebbles flying towards the akumatized victim. The tiny rocks jam the cannons, preventing Jackhammer from being able to build.

I run over and slam my baton into the necklace, breaking it in half. A tiny black akuma slowly flutters out, which quickly gets caught by Mister Bug's yo-yo and purified.

"Miraculous Mister Bug!"

After we comfort the victim and send her on her way, Mister Bug and I run off to de-transform, hoping now we will be able to switch our miraculouses back.

"Plagg, claws in," I mumble from inside the janitor's closet.

A bright green light flashes and lightens the dark closet for a second before Plagg shoots out of my ring and collapses into my hands.

I immediately start to tug on my ring, and my blood runs cold. Just like before, the ring seems to be fused to my body. In fact, it feels like it's grown on me, or something like that. I turn on the light in the small closet let out a small gasp.

The ring, still stuck to me, seems like it's attached to me. Black lines craw out of the ring on my skin, like roots of a tree into the ground.

"Hey kitten, are you okay?" I hear Plagg ask concerned, not in his usual mischievous mood.

I stare at the ring with a confused look. "Plagg... what is that?"

The tiny black kwami flies over to my left hand and inspects the ring. He stares at the black lines growing into my skin from the ring, and his eyes open wide.

"That's... that's dark magic, Marinette," Plagg states.

I freeze. "W-Wait, dark magic like Hawkmoth?!"

Plagg nods, surprisingly serious, which just worries me more. I bite my lip and look at him nervously.

"Something must have happened to the miraculous, but I don't know what," Plagg mumbles. "Like I said before, I've never seen this happen."

"Let's just go back home. I'm sure class will be canceled since the akuma battle was at school," I suggest.

I start making my way to the closet door when Plagg asks me another question.

"Have your powers been acting up?"

I shake my head, and grab the handle to exit the tiny closet. "No. My cataclysm has been working... just... fine..."

My voice trails off as I look at the door handle slowly turning into ash in my hands. My eyes open wide and my face goes pale. I just used my cataclysm even though I'm not transformed.

Plagg freezes. "Yeah. That's never happened before."

Adrien's POV

"Adrien, that's not normal! You need to tell Lady Noir!" Tikki begs.

I lean against the cold tile wall in the boys bathroom and sigh, crossing my arms. I just tried to take the ladybug miraculous off, but just like before, I couldn't. It was almost like the earrings were fused to my body.

I walk over to the mirror and lean on the sink with my arms extended. I stare at myself in the mirror, with my head tilted slightly, peering at my earrings on my ears. Black root-like veins grow out of the earrings. It's super creepy to look at, but it doesn't hurt.

Tikki told me that the black was dark magic, the kind of magic Hawkmoth uses. She's begged me to transform back into Mister Bug and tell Lady Noir, but I don't want to. I'm worried that the more I transform, the more the black magic will grow on my ear.

"Tikki, we'll worry about it later," I mumble to the red kwami, brushing my hair out of the way and staring at myself in the mirror.

Tikki shakes her head. "Please, Adrien, listen to me! That's dark magic. Something might have happened!"

I sigh and turn away from the mirror, leaning on it, and face Tikki. "I don't know what happened, but one, I'm not going to tell Lady Noir because she'll just get worried, and two, because that will require me to transform again."

"You're afraid that the transformations causes the dark magic to grow?" Tikki asks, flying in the air.

"Yeah. It just started to form after we caught Jackhammer, after all."

"Yeah, that makes sense. Did anything happen during the battle?"

I smile and look towards the ground, thinking about how much fun it is to be Mister Bug. "Nothing bad happened, don't worry, but it sure is fun using my lucky charm!"

Suddenly a bright light flashes above me. I gasp and jump back. Almost instantly, a black and red polka-dotted teacup appears in the air and falls down into my hands.

"W-What?" I stutter, holding the porcelain teacup in my hands.

"You just used your lucky charm... even though you're not transformed..." Tikki mutters, terrified.

I look up at the tiny kwami's bright blue eyes. "Has this ever happened before?"

Tikki stares at me with pure fear.

"Call Lady Noir. Set up a meet up later tonight. You've got to tell her, because something is terribly wrong."
