fifteen [⭐️] just shut up!
Marinette's POV
"Adrien... I... " I stutter, looking away nervously.
Adrien looks at me with bright green eyes and smiles.
"Yes, my lady?"
"I... I love you!"
"I do too!" He shouts, picking me up by the hips. "Let's get married!"
I giggle. "Yes! We'll have a house and three kids with a hamster!"
Adrien smirks. "THAT I WILL EAT!"
I scream and shoot up in my bed, whipping my head around crazily. I realize it's early in the morning and I'm in my bedroom. The memories of Mister Bug taking me home fill my head.
"Plagg...?" I mumble rubbing my eye, waking up. "Was that you?"
Plagg smiles proudly. "I was talking to my cheese."
I give him the stink eye.
"What?" He snickers. "Did I interrupt your dream?"
I roll back over in my warm bed and stuff my face back into my pillow, closing my eyes. "Yes, actually, you did."
"Was it about Adrien?"
I shoot up and slam the pillow right into Plagg's face. "N-NO!"
"I'm just kidding!" He laughs, phasing through the pillow. "Hey, by the way, did you see that the dark magic growing on your hand shrunk?"
I lift my hand up and stare at it, slowly looking at both sides. "Hey, you're right... if it healed then that most likely means that we found a way to heal our dark magic. I wonder why?"
Plagg shrugs, still holding his cheese. "Eh, I don't know. But you can ask Adrien."
"Adrien!" I scream, collapsing back in my bed and stuffing my pillow in my face. "Can you believe that he was Chat Noir the whole time?!"
"Yeah. I kinda was the reason he became Chat Noir."
"That was Adrien flirting with me! Adrien kissed my hands!" I squeal, then gasp and slap my hands over my mouth. "I KISSED ADRIEN."
"Oh, no. Here we go," Plagg mumbles, chewing on his cheese.
I shoot up in my bed. "Oh my god, boys are amazing! Wait, but do you think he cares? What if he hates me? What he thinks I'm a bad kisser? Or, what if he fell in love with me only because I'm Ladybug? I bet that's the reason! He did just randomly kiss me one day at the park, after all. Ugh! Boys are so stupid!"
"Or," Plagg buts in, flying close to my face. "You could go ask him yourself, in like, five minutes."
"FIVE MINUTES?" I shout, then look over at my alarm clock.
Plagg groans. "I do not know how someone could miss school practically every day in their life and not have a solution by now."
"Plagg, why didn't you tell me!" I shout, jumping out of bed and scrambling to my bathroom.
"Honey, are you talking to yourself again?" Mama calls up from the kitchen.
I stuff my toothbrush in my mouth and start scrubbing furiously. "Yeah! I'll be down in a sec, mom!"
Plagg smirks, crossing his arms and hovering in the air. "Your mom thinks you're crazy. Not that I blame her."
I spit in the sink, tear a brush through my hair, then whip the door open and scramble back out into my bedroom, tossing on some jeans and slipping on a jacket over a white tank.
"Thanks, Plagg, the kwami that talks to his cheese," I tease, hopping on one foot to put my shoes on.
I toss my backpack over my shoulder and sprint downstairs, gliding on the stairwell and landing not-so-gracefully. I quickly wave goodbye to my mom and dad, then sprint down the street with my hands gripped tightly to my backpack straps.
"Wait, kid!" I hear Plagg call out, flying after me in the middle of the street. "You forgot about me!"
I slam my heels against the sidewalk and halt to a quick break, whipping my head back around to look at the tiny black kwami. "Sorry, sorry!"
I open my jacket for Plagg to slip into, when suddenly I hear a scream. We both turn towards the yell, and see a tiny young girl staring at us from the sidewalk with a terrified look on her face, covering her mouth and pointing at Plagg.
"Uh... woof?" He squeaks.
I slap my hand around the tiny kwami's body and bring him up to my face, glaring at him.
"You're a cat. A cat! This isn't that hard!" I frantically shout, before turning back to the little girl. "This is a dream. You'll forget it all. Bye!"
I stuff Plagg in my jacket and continue my one hundred meter sprint towards the school, praying that the girl didn't get a good look at my face, and ignoring Plagg's snickering.
I burst into the school doors and scramble up the stairs, whipping the classroom door open and dashing in, sliding on my breaks just as the school bell rings.
"Safe!" I squeal, jumping up and down and pumping my arms up in the air.
"Mrs Dupain-Cheng, this isn't baseball. This is Chemistry. Please take a seat," The teacher snaps.
I stop my joyful dance and blink, looking at the class with every seat filled. "Oh, my bad."
The classroom giggles as I slide into my regular seat next to Alya, noticing that Nino sat next to Adrien.
I have mixed feelings on what to do next. I'm still kinda mad that he started to date me mostly because I was Ladybug, and that he played with my feelings, but still. A part of me wants to forgive him and move on.
I sigh, resting my head on my open book on the table. Alya chuckles.
"Boy trouble?" She whispers, tilting her head towards me but keeping her eyes staring forward at the chalkboard.
I growl, lifting my head back up. "Yes. I don't know what to do!"
"Look, I'm still really upset about the other day..." she whispers.
I give her baby doll eyes.
She smirks, closing her eyes. "Fine, only 'cause I love you. First step is to him. However he treats you next will determine what you should do. If he ignores you or glares at you, take that as a no. If he smiles and continues the conversation, take that as a yes."
I nod with a confident "hmpf!" and pump my fists by my sides.
After a very stressful pop quiz in chemistry, loads of homework in geometry, and notes after notes in geography, the school day is finally finished. I run over to the front door of the school, where Adrien and I usually meet, but I'm surprised when I see only Chloé is standing there, messing around on her phone.
Ew.
"Ugh. Is that you, Marinette? I can already smell your cheap perfume a mile a way, you don't need to hide it," she snaps, still staring at her phone.
"Cataclysm her," I hear Plagg whisper from my jacket.
I walk out the door and greet Chloé with a forced smile, squeezing my jaw tightly. "Heyyyyy, Chloé! What's up?"
She looks at me , then looks back at her phone. "I'm waiting for Adrien. I want to walk with him home today."
"I don't want to go home right now," I hear a monotone voice inform from behind us.
"ADRI-KINS!" Chloé squeaks, running towards the blond.
Adrien smiles, but it's a weak, fake smile. A smile he smiles just to make Chloé happy. A smile he knows that I know is fake.
"Adrikins!" Chloé chirps grabbing Adrien's arm tightly. "If you don't want to go home, then I'm sure that we can go to my place, just like we used to all the time when we were kids!"
Adrien sighs. "Look Clo, not right now. Maybe later."
Chloé giggles and laces her hand with his. "What do you mean? We can talk about it, if you want. I'm sure your father won't mind."
He snaps his hand out of hers, and steps away from the blonde.
"I said, not right now Chloé! Please, I want to talk to Marinette!"
She stares at him in shock, slowly stumbling backwards. "Oh. Oh... okay."
Chloé lightly smiles at Adrien, grabs her backpack, and runs home.
"Wow, uh, anyways..." I comment, frowning. "Do... do you want to go to the park?"
"I hate him."
I give him a weird look. "Uh, Adrien? Who are you talking to?"
"Nothing," he replies in a monotone voice, shaking his head. "Let's just go to the park."
I hold my backpack straps tightly around my shoulders, nervous. He is acting different. Did something happen at the akuma battle? Did he discover something about Hawkmoth? Or... did I say something weird when I forgot my memory?
We walk in silence on our way over to the park. I will occasionally pop in and try to get a conversation started, but he simply keeps his head down low and dodges the questions.
We reach the park. The sky is a cool blue, and a warm breeze blows through the trees, rustling their bright green leaves. We reach a nice wooden bench and sit down shoulder to shoulder. The weather is nice and warm, so I slip my jacket off my shoulders. Adrien does the same. Our kwamis come out of their hiding spots and talk inside of Adrien's bag, hidden away from any civilians.
"Um, Adrien?" I ask quietly, keeping my voice hushed. "Have you been okay? All day today you've been quiet."
"Yeah," he mumbles, staring off into the distance.
I give him a confused look and follow his gaze, and eventually my eyes reach his house.
"Oh wow, I've never noticed that dome on the side of your house. It's only noticeable from this view, so it's no surprise I didn't know about it," I quietly whisper.
Adrien nods, with a slight glare. "Yeah, me neither."
I point my toes inward towards each other and squirm in my seat. God, this is uncomfortable. I don't know what happened, but something is seriously bugging Adrien. I've just got to keep the conversation going.
"So..." I continue, biting my lip. "What does that room do? I mean, if I had a room with a glass dome as a roof, I would go there all the time! I mean, imagine the lighting! Perfect for drawing!"
"I've never been in there," Adrien replies with a monotone voice.
I scoff. "What?! Adrien, are you kidding me?"
Adrien continues to stare at his house with a glare resting on his face. "Father always said it was an observatory. He described it as a 'boring room with nothing to do', so I've never gone in there."
"What?! Not even to take a peak?"
He sighs. "I actually don't know how to even enter the room."
I gasp and jump up to look at him. "Woah, like a secret room!"
"An akuma," He mutters with his eyes opening wide, still staring at the dome.
I freeze. "Wait, what?"
Did he see something fly out of the dome? Is that why he's watching it so intensely? Does he know something about it that I don't?
"I... I gotta go," he stutters, standing up and grabbing his bags. "I'm going to go home now."
I grab his hand. "What? Adrien, you're making no sense today! I don't know what's going on at all!"
He pulls his hand away from mine. "I'm sorry, but I really have to go."
I stomp my foot on the ground. "What do you mean?! You've been really emotionless today. You snapped at Chloé. You'll get lost in thought when talking to me. You've dodged all my questions. Adrien Agreste, What is going on? What aren't you telling me?"
He stares forward, keeping his back towards me.
"Nothing."
I growl. "As if I'll take that for an answer! You're hiding something from me! Something that happened at the akuma battle!"
"I said-" he whips his head around at me and glares. "-nothing!"
I grab his hand and press it against my chest. "Adrien, what's going on? Is it me? Did I do something?"
He says nothing.
"Do you... do you not like me?"
He slaps his hand away from me.
"Just, shut up Marinette!" He shouts, before walking off.
I freeze. My eyes grow as big a saucers. My feet grow into the ground. Tears start to form and my hands start to shake. I collapse against the ground, holding my hand against my mouth.
Adrien just told me to shut up. Adrien.
I guess I did say something. Maybe I said something so hurtful that he can't even look at me anymore. Maybe he really hates me.
My arm screams from pain from the negative emotions. The pain has slowly turned into something worse. I feel like every time the dark magic on my arm grows, the more pain I feel. Now, it's not just pain, it's dangerous pain. Deadly pain. It's getting worse.
Maybe it's time I let him go. For both his and my sake.
