(Y/n)'s POV

I can't believe Akashi! You would think someone as prim and proper as him would tell me in the beginning that he thought I was ugly, and he didn't want to continue in this relationship. Man, and now I'm stuck with these tickets that expire new years eve to a mystery dinner with no one to go with! I could give them as a Christmas gift to my parents or one of my friends who are dating someone, but I was really looking forward to going. Hm, let's see what guy that I know would be willing to go with me? Kise is out of town for a Christmas modeling gig, Aomine isn't the brightest when it comes to solving  mysteries, Kuroko would become a part of the mystery dinner, and Murasakibara would only care about the dinner part...which only leaves Midorima. It might take so convincing, but I'm sure in the end he'll go with me. I scrolled down in my list of contacts until I found Carrot-senpai, my nickname for Midorima, and called him.

"(Y/n)? This is unusual, why are you calling?" He answered.

"Geez, that's a nice way to say hello to your kouhai. Anyway, I have something to ask you?"

"Go on."

"Well you see I have these tickets to go to a mystery dinner, and I was wondering if you wanted to accompany me." I stated.

"Don't you have Akashi to do that? And even if I did go with you, Akashi would stab me with my scissors that he never returned."

"Nonsense, he wouldn't do that because we just broke up. He cheated on me and then he told me doesn't love me anymore because apparently I'm ugly." I cried.

"My condolences (Y/n). I-i guess I'll go with you i-if it will make you feel better."

Yes, my crying worked!

"Really senpai? Thank you! The tickets expire on New Year's Eve, when do you want to go?" I cheered.

"Tomorrow night if that's ok nanodayo."

"Great, I'll see you tomorrow Carrot-senpai!"

"Stop calling me that!"

Akashi's POV

"I think I will leave you alone like you said, but this time, I'm going to find me a real man." (Y/n) said as she stormed out my room.

The last sentence she spoke really hurt me internally. I felt the emotion of pain, something I haven't felt since I lost my mother. I didn't mean to call (Y/n) ugly, it just came out. I regret horrible I just treated her.

"Ha, thank God that bitch is gone!" Mai laughed.

"She's not a bitch, don't talk bad about her." I scolded my girlfriend.

"Oh please, you don't feel bad for her Sei-chan? Don't focus on her, focus on me~" She replied wrapping her arms around me.

I removed her arms from around me.

"I told you to watch your tongue." I glared at her.

"Why do you care? Do you still love the bitch?!"

"I never loved her from the beginning, but I do now."

"Seriously?! What's your problem? Do you love me or her?!"

I remained silent. Mai got fed up with me, slapped me, and left. After she left, I laid down on my bed and signed into my twitter account out of boredom. When the screen loaded, the first tweet I saw was a tweet posted by (Y/n) saying that she's attending a mystery dinner tomorrow with my former junior high teammate Midorima.

Midorima's POV

After talking to (Y/n), my cellular device buzzed once again; it was from Akashi.

"Take care of (Y/n) tomorrow Shintaro." His text read.

"(Y/n) told me that the two of you aren't together anymore, I don't see why you'd care whether or not she's taken care of."

"I still love her." He replied.

"Did you ever love her Akashi?"

"..."

"I think not."

"Do you love her?"

"I'm not obliged to tell you that."

"Heh, I can see right through you Shintaro. You always try to beat me in basketball, shoot, grades, etc; and yet you always come up short. This time will be no different."

"Maybe so, but this match it different; its something you can't control Akashi. This is (Y/n)'s decision, not yours."

The Following Day

I'd never admit this out loud, but I was jealous of Akashi when him and (Y/n) started dating. I use to tutor her in (worst subject), but once she started dating Akashi, she didn't need my help anymore. I'm tired of Akashi's belief that he is the best in everything. Today according to today's horoscope, cancer has the highest luck with (your sign), and sagittarius has the worst with (your sign). At precisely 6pm, I arrived at (Y/n)'s residency. She was clothed in a beautiful (color and formal outfit), that made me blush slightly.

"Judging by your expression, I'd say I look pretty damn good~" (Y/n) smirked.

"S-stop fishing for compliments and get in the car!" I said embarrassed.

"Hehe, okay senpai!" She giggled as she got in the passenger's seat of my car.

(Y/n)'s POV

I was so enraptured by Akashi, that I never realized how much of a kind, considerate, and handsome guy Midorima is. I should have never dated a guy just because of his money and good looks. Midorima drove us to the mystery dinner safely, and we got there just on time. I've always wanted to attend one of these with a guy, and I finally got to! I observed the room full of men and women couples, and envied how close they were. I wish Midorima and I were dating, then it wouldn't be so awkward for him if I decided to hold his arm. However, to my surprise, Midorima took me hand and led us to our table. He must have saw how I was looking at the other couples, and did this to make me feel better.

"Thank you, it means a lot too me." I said to him.

"Y-you're welcome (Y/n), y-you know I-i'm only doing this b-because cancers have the highest luck with your sign." He said as he was clearly flustered.

"Haha, stop lying senpai. You're doing this because you wanted to make me feel better; I appreciate it." I smiled.

"N-no that's not why I agreed to accompany you. T-the t-truth is-"

Midorima's words were cut off by the announcer welcoming all the couples to the mystery dinner. The announcer explained the rules, and told us the objective of tonights mystery is to find the hidden gem in the building. On each of our tables, there was a map of the building, and a note that said gems come in all shapes and sizes. We have two hours to locate this gem, and I really want to win because whoever wins gets a trip for two to(dream vacation destination). The game began, and while most of the couples took the map and started roaming around the building, Midorima and I started eating our dinner. When we took the last bites of our meals, we notice a little piece of paper in our mouths.

"Good thing we didn't follow everyone else! What does your paper say?" I asked Midorima.

"Things like this are never easy, so I expected something like this to happen. My paper states that first we should head left up the stares to the balcony. What does yours say?"

"Gems are rare." I said."Not much help there."

"Actually, that's a lot of help. It means the gem doesn't necessarily have to be a jewel. It could very well be a person, an attribute, or another object."

"Wow, I never would have thought that! You're so smart Carrot-senpai~"

"L-let's just go to the balcony already." He blushed as he took my hand.

We finally made it up the flight of stairs. Man, I'm out of shape because I'm enervated! Midorima and I opened the doors to the balcony, and there I saw him.

"What are you doing here Akashi?!" I yelled

"I'm apart of this game your playing, have you figured out where the hidden gem is?" He smiled.

Midorima stepped in front of me," It's you isn't it Akashi? You have crimson red hair, gold and red eyes, and AB blood; all rare like gems."

"Very good, Shintaro. I'm impressed." My former boyfriend smirked.

"What are you up to?" Midorima asked.

"I'm just here to tell (Y/n) that I'm sorry for what I said and did to you last night...and I'd like for us to date again."

"How can I date someone who never even loved me in the first place and wasn't enough of a man to tell me so?! I don't believe a word you say!" I retorted.

"Please (Y/n), I realize I made a big mistake, and I regret what I put you through." Akashi's face looked genuinely sorry.

"I'm sorry Seijuro, but I'm dating Shintaro now. He's kind, considerate, and more attractive." I boldly declared as I kissed Midorima on the lips.

"I see...Shintaro was right then, this was an outcome I couldn't control." Akashi said as he experienced defeat for the first time.

Akashi wasn't the hidden gem, it was you senpai.
