a few days before day 457

interrogation

Blank eyes looked at each other.

The owner of one pair sighed and stepped aside, leaving the door open.

Taehyung, having knocked at Yoongi's door, happily entered before shutting it.

"Why are you here?" Yoongi asked as he sat back down on his couch with his laptop, no spite in his voice. Just honest curiosity.

"Am I not allowed to be?" Taehyung cheekily replied before sitting down on the other end of where Yoongi was sitting.

Yoongi snorted. "It's not that you aren't allowed, it's just that this is your first time coming here alone. It seems suspicious."

Now Taehyung got a little nervous, but he didn't show it. He was great at hiding his emotions when he really wanted to, too bad he didn't get to properly last time. "How is it suspicious?" He asked rhetorically.

"Yeah,  yeah. So, what have you been up to since the last time I saw you?"

"The same. Work's a bit stressful sometimes."

"Right. Being a photographer must be stressful," Yoongi snorted.

Taehyung pouted. "It's stressful to get inspired sometimes. You should know."

This time Yoongi smiled before a short reply, "Yeah."

"So, hyung," Taehyung started, remembering what he was here for. He was going to get this clear and down. He was determined to reveal the past Yoongi and Jimin have.

"Hm?" Yoongi hummed before he shut his laptop and stood up.

"How have you been? Jimin and you seem to be close," Taehyung mentioned as Yoongi headed to the kitchen. Taehyung followed, leaning against a counter.

"Yeah, I'm doing fine. Making music and such, I'm also producing a little for another soloist in the company," he answered, head hidden behind the fridge door. "Do you want pizza? Or have you eaten already?"

Remembering he actually hadn't eaten already, Taehyung replies, "Haven't eaten. Pizza sounds good." Then he paused, wondered how he could be less obvious. But, before he was actually reasoning it out, the words already escaped. "And? How's Jimin?"

Furrowing his brows as he put the leftover pizza from the previous day onto a plate, Yoongi replied, "What do you mean how's Jimin? Don't you live with him?"

Rolling his eyes, Taehyung clarified. "I meant how are you with him?" He didn't want to be straightforward. But there was no other way.

Yoongi put the plate in the microwave before he started it, leaning against the opposite counter now, expression a little confused. "Fine...? Be more specific?"

"Okay. I heard you two come home together, 's that fun?"

"Yeah," Yoongi shrugged, seemingly hiding something but Taehyung didn't notice. "He's fun to talk to."

There was a pause before Taehyung spoke up again, this time trying not to be obvious. He remembered something. "When did you start working at the company, again?"

Yoongi's eyes traveled to the ceiling, thinking, the soft hum of the microwave being the only sound in the background. "Four to five months ago?"

Taehyung almost sighed in slight frustration, but he calmed himself. He could figure this out, like Conan does in the show. He could do this.

"Do you like how they treat you?" He asked, trying to trail off topic a little so he could ask something else later without it being suspicious.

"It's nice, actually. They treat us very well."

"Yeah. They forced Jimin to take vacation a few times. I like how they treat them," Taehyung replied, and he grinned internally when he saw Yoongi smiling. He was getting somewhere.

"Yeah, they've done that. Jimin works hard, doesn't he? It's funny that the company forces him to take vacations," and he actually laughs in delight. "That's really nice."

Almost fist pumping in victory of the change in topic to what he wanted, Taehyung went for it. "You two seem so close to having just met five months ago."

"Oh, we didn-" just then, the microwave started beeping, signaling the heating was done. "Oh, the pizza," he said, lips pursed, eyes a little nervous (but Taehyung didn't notice that, he was too busy celebrating for finally getting somewhere) before he quickly got out the food and put two slices on another plate for Taehyung.

As he was, Taehyung, seemingly a little excited - he was way too excited, but he hid it - said, "Yeah? You were saying?"

Yoongi meets his eyes, the look on them a little dully bored. "What?"

Sighing, Taehyung tried again. "You were saying something. 'We didn't' what?" Then a look of slight panic crossed Yoongi's eyes just a little before it disappeared quickly.

"We didn't feel that awkward, just had a lot of time to talk," he answered casually. "Eat," he said, handing Taehyung the plate.

Taehyung almost drops the plate in frustration. He knew, now he knew they were hiding something. He just needed the evidence! It was going to be so difficult that Yoongi was purposely hiding it.

He took a bite and thought about how to approach this.

"What are you even doing here anyway?"

"Just wanted to hang out with you," Taehyung nonchalantly replied, the reason partially being real. "It really has been a while."

"Well, thanks, I guess," Yoongi replied with a sincere smile.

"Yeah," then the perfect idea hit Taehyung, to try to retrace as back as he could with the pace of the conversation. "We haven't hung out ever since before you went to Japan. What did you get busy with that you forgot to call us, even?" He joked, but then carefully watched for a reaction.

For a split second, there was a glint in Yoongi's eyes before they disappeared just as soon. "I did have work, you know. I have a mind that moves with current times. If you aren't there with me, making contact with me, then I'll probably won't remember to talk to you unless I see your name somewhere," he paused. Then quickly added, "It's not that I don't like you... it's just..."

Taehyung laughed, "You adapt to new routines well if you didn't have a solid one for it. I understand. We didn't hang out that much before either, so it's understandable. Now, though, it's become more of a solid routine, so you'd probably miss us, yeah?" He beamed.

Yoongi nodded, a faint yet warm grin present. "Yeah."

The two just ate in silence before Taehyung realized Yoongi completely evaded the subject! He almost cried out in frustration.

Internally sighing in defeat, he figured he should try another time.

For now, he would just enjoy his good friend's company.
