It was a silent cold night of January. Chilly cool breeze was showing slight drop in temperature. Mostly all were already in their dreamland but Naina was awake, sitting in balcony, alone, deeply lost in her own thoughts, her own miseries, blankly looking at sky... Preeti wake up and found empty bed....

Preeti came outside, "Naina, yahaan itni thand mein akele baahar kya kar rahi hai... chal andar varna thand lag jaayegi" She did not speak, fighting the tears that filled up in her eyes....

Preeti put her hand on her shoulder, "Naina kal ke baare mein soch rahi hai, agar sochna hai toh yeh soch ki kal Sameer ka birthday hai... dekh agar tu pareshaan hai toh rehne de varna mein toh kahungi kuchh different plan kar na usake liye ....

Naina smiled hesitantly and said, "haan pata hai, par kuchh socha nahin abhi tak... sach kahun kal college jaane ka man nahin hai, par agar nahin gayi toh usse bura lagega, aur mein usse kal ke din dukhi nahin karna chahti".

Preeti hit on her head, "kya bakwaas hai ab yeh... kyun nahin jaana college.. mujhe toh laga tha ki tu kuchh special plan karegi uske liye... she sits next to her and said, "dekh Naina, jo hona tha ho chuka ab kab tak yeh sab sochegi... tujhe zindagi mein aage badna hai... chhod yeh sab aur chal kuchh plan karte hai.. ab voh itna special hai to usse kuchh toh special milna hi chahiye na" she winked to make her smile...

Naina hit on her arm and said, "jyada bakwaas mat kar aur kuchh idea hai toh bata... vaise yaar ek idea hai, kyun na usake liye apne haath se cake bana lun... khush ho jayega"

Preeti : haan voh toh hai... aakhir tere haath ke khaane ke bina uska pet bhi toh nahin bharta" they both laughed and plan for tomorrow..

They came inside and Naina bring out the new recipe book from her almirah which Preeti bought it for her knowing her favorite hobby of cooking. They read the recipes from book and decided for chocolate cake to bake.

Naina woke up early morning and after bath, start preparing Gaajar ka halwa for prasad...

Chachiji : arey Naina itni jaldi thand mein uth kar tu kya kar rahi hai kitchen mein...

Naina : voh Chachiji aaj mera man tha mandir jaane ka toh socha prasad bana kar le jaaun... bas ban hi gaya hai bas dry fruit daalna rah gaya hai....

Chachiji : chal mein teri madad kar deti hun... then she helps in cutting dry fruits and later Naina gets ready for mandir...

Naina thinks to wish him first before going to temple, so she picked up the cordless and came in her room and dialed his number to avoid seeing by Chachiji......

Sameer / Naina together : Hello.... They smiled and she wished him : Happy Birthday Sameer..

Sameer : Thanks, Naina, mein kab se tumhare hi phone ka wait kar raha tha... mujhe pata tha itani subah sirf tum hi mujhe sabse pehle wish karogi... thank you so much... aaj ka din special banane ke liye....

Naina : karti kaise nahin... aakhir tum mere sabse achchhe dost jo ho... achchha chalo abhi rakhti hun.... College mein milte hai... Bye

Sameer smile : Bye..

Naina keep the cordless on side table and left for temple alone.....

Sameer : arey mein to bhool hi gaya usase puchhna ki kya aaj voh thoda jaldi college aa sakti hai.. I want to spend most of my day with her" thinking this he dialed her back and Preeti picks up the phone...

Preeti irritatingly : Kaun hai yaar.... Aadhi raat ko phone karoge toh bhooto ki aatma tumhein chhodegi nahin......

Sameer smiled knowing how much she loved to sleep same as Rohan and said, "Arey Preeti, mein Sameer hun... aur abhi raat nahin subah ho chuki hai"

Preeti shocked and get up from bed, "Sameer tum, kya hua sab theek.. itani subah kaise phone kiya" remembering today his birthday, she teased him, "achchha khud hi wishes lene ke liye phone kar liya Naina se... kya baat hai... thoda bhi intzaar nahin ho raha"

Sameer smiled : arey nahin baba, Naina already wish kar chuki hai... mujhe usase kuchh baat karni thi.. usse phone dogi jara...

Preeti searched her and informed Sameer that she has left for mandir... before she wished him he disconnects the call, "yaar mujhse bhi wishes le leta... par nahin Majnu saahab ko toh sirf unki Laila se hi baat karni hai" she laughed and sleep again...

Sameer cut the phone thinking, "Okay toh madam mere liye prarthna karne mandir gayi hai aur mujhe hi nahin bataya.. ab batata hun" he planned to meet and surprise her in temple and gets ready...

Sameer : Ramdhari, Nanu kahaan hai... dikh nahin rahe...

Ramdhari: saahab toh subah hi kahin chale gaye... shayad sair ke liye gaye honge...

Sameer thinks surprisingly, "mujhe wish bhi nahin kiya, koi baat nahin, shayad jaldi mein honge....achchha theek hai mein thodi der mein aata hun" he picked up his bike keys and left...

Naina gets down from auto and sits at her usual bench in garden... Nanu came straight to her and sit beside her...

Naina (smile) : Good morning Nanu... aaj aap yahan... kaise ho aap...

Nanu smiled seeing her with misty eyes, "tu kaisi hai yeh bata... aaj subah se man bahut vichlit tha... samajh nahin aa raha tha ki kya karu... bas teri hi yaad aa rahi thi"

Naina wipe out his tears and make a cute baby face, "meri yaad itani buri hai ki aap ro pade... mujhe toh achchha lagega agar aap mujhe yaad karke muskurate"

Nanu caressed her head and lovingly look at her, "tu toh mujhe rone bhi nahin deti"... kaise sah leti hai yeh sab... aaj ke din bhi...

She cut his sentence and show fake anger : aap apna vaada tod rahe ho... yaad hai na humne wada kiya tha ki kabhi us baat ko yaad nahin karenge... toh phir aaj ke itane achchhe din yeh aansu kyun... chaliye jaldi se muskuraiye aur jaakar mandir mein darshan kar lijiye.... Mujhe pata hai aaj aapke pote ka bhi janamdin hai...

Nanu asked surprisingly, "bhi.. kya matlab aaj kisi aur ka bhi janamdin hai?"

Naina cut her tongue : Haan voh mere ek dost ka hai... usi ke liye yeh prasad bana kar laayi thi... aap mandir mein chada denge meri taraf se.....

Nanu request again which she always denied: Tu khud chal na mere saath.....

Naina smiled back : Nahin Nanu... please... aap jaaiye mein hun yahin, aapka intzaar karti hun...

He caressed on her head and left to purchase the aarti thali from side shop....

Sameer reached temple and park his bike and move towards the temple. He saw Naina sitting alone at bench in mandir courtyard, with a mischievous smile, "achchha toh madam yahaan hai... abhi batata hun"

He came close to her from back and boom... she shivered, and he starts laughing... dekha darra diya na...

Naina put her hand on her chest, "kitne kharaab ho Sameer... aise kaun darata hai"

Sameer chuckled: mein... mein darata hun.... Ab batao kaisa laga mera surprise...

Naina smiled : bahut achchha.. par tum yahaan kaise... achchha birthday hai toh aashirwaad lene aaye ho bhagwan ji se ...

Sameer sits next to her: Not exactly... actually tumse milne aaya hun.. Preeti se pata chala tum yahaan ho toh bas aa gaya...

Naina : theek hai par agar ab aa hi gaye ho toh jaao, mandir mein darshan karke aao jaldi se...

Sameer : Haan toh saath chalte hai na... tum bhi chalo...

Naina hesitantly smiled and said, "Nahin Sameer... tum jao... mein tumhara yahin intzaar karti hun... please jao"

Sameer got confused, he stands and pulled her hand slightly, asked "nahin tumhare bina nahin.... Tum bhi chalo varna mein bhi nahin jaaunga... aur mein hoon na... sidiyon se ab kyun darna, voh bhi mere saath"

Naina denied again, "Please Sameer zid mat karo na... dekho mein yahin hu, tum jaldi se jaao aur aa jao' he surprised on her reaction and pulled her by her arm to stand up, "nahin mujhe kuchh nahin sun na.. tum chalo bas"

Nanu purchase his thaali and turned back... he saw a boy pulling forcedly Naina's hand and she is denying on something... he moves towards her thinking she needs help......

Nanu in firm voice : ae ladke... chhodo usse, kyun usaka haath jabardasti pakad rakha hai...

Sameer feeling a familiar voice turned, here Naina also stands holding his arm for support to tell Nanu that she knows him to avoid any argument or embarrassment for any of them

Sameer / Nanu together : Aap / Tum? Yahaan kya kar rahe ho?

Naina with surprise : aap donon jaante hai ek dusre ko? Nanu aap Sameer ko kaise jante ho?

Nanu to Naina : Mini tum jaanti ho isko? Turned to Sameer : Sameer tum kaise jante ho Mini ko?

Sameer to Naina : Tumne bataya nahin tum Nanu ko Janti ho? Turned to Nanu : aur aap kaise jante ho Naina ko?

All starts questioning each other... then Nanu shouts : chup... ek dam chup donon... kya laga rakha hai sabne kya kya..... kuchh samajh nahin aa raha.....

Both got quite immediately and after a pause, they all three burst into laughter ... Till then, Mandir aarti starts and Naina asked both to go for darshan first...

Sameer turned to Naina, "Haan to hum sab saath hi chalte hai na... chalo tum bhi maine kaha na"

Nanu knowing her apprehensions, tried to make him understand, "Sameer, koi baat nahin, tu chal mere saath... usse baithne de...zid mat kar voh nahin aayegi"

Sameer reluctantly : aise kaise nahin aayegi Nanu... mein hoon na... chalo tum Naina... agar tum ziddi ho toh mein tumse bhi bada wala ziddi hun... tumhein pata hai na.... aur aaj toh mera birthday bhi hai.. tumhein meri baat manani hi padegi, koi bahana nahin chalega...

Saying this he holds her hand more firmly and keep another hand on her shoulder to support her on stairs, like he always does in college..... Nanu feels happy from inside but slightly shocked also on his behavior, he feels a close bonding between two who are so close to his heart but for Naina all this was bit embarrassing in front of Nanu, being an elder.....

Naina denied but Sameer adamantly took her upstairs in temple and then all three was standing in front of idol keeping their eyes close... tears start flowing from her eyes as after one year she came inside the temple that too with him only, for him only.....again.....

Nanu feels bad seeing her crying silently and keep her hand on her head.. she looked at him and smile to assure him that she is fine..... Sameer looked both of them and feels but surprised on their close bonding and tears in her eyes.....
