Needle and a Thread

Demeter's wails are another guest to her and Iasion's home. Her beloved clings onto her to soothe her through the unimaginable sadness. Her tears hit the ground, sprouting new colorful flowers as irony.

Echo holds her grandmother's hands. Her crown of flowers shrinks and withers to join the mood. "Gia, what's wrong? What made you cry?"

The Olympian parts her lips, but nothing comes out. She assumes that the terrible fate is at work.

Persephone brushes through her mother's hair while holding back tears.

Hippolyta summons her scarlet aura as a light veil that wraps around the goddess. The pleasant warmth begins to settle her body.

Orpheus' strumming of the lyre sends notes of peace to comfort her heart. As the deity of the heart settles down, the warrior queen and demigod question each other with their eyes what tragedy she foresaw.

"My Blossom," Iasion rubs Demeter's back. "We're here. We're here."

"It's still not right," her voice wavers like a shaking leaf.

"Let's have you rest," her lover suggests. "We can sleep on the floor if you like," he crouches down with a gentle smile.

The idea of a nap sounded like a blessing, but the Fates gave her a role in the master plan. "Wait. I can tell a few things. Zeus...will be defeated if we follow every step of what Nyx gave me.  I can relay a little for now. Orpheus, go see Eurydice."

His fingers stop playing. "Goddess-

"Don't object, please. While I rest, be with her."

A shoulder squeeze by Hippolyta assures the demigod to reunite with his beloved. "Just think of her and call her name. Go."

Tears of joy accompany his rushing footsteps. He runs to the edge of Iasion's island before collecting his thoughts. Memories of her laugh, face, and kisses outweigh the guilt he carried up to this time.

He fills his lungs up with air. "EURYDICE!"

An island rotates with ease in front of him. He leaps across while strumming his lyre to find his wife.

His ears perk up.

The love song he used to play on his wedding brings him back to that day. The melody lures him to the large olive tree responsible for the notes. The occupant in its pleasant shade runs out.

His back meets the pillowy ground. Gentle arms wrap around him, refusing to let go. Eurydice's tears of joy stain his tunic.

"Orpheus!"

Hearing her voice again sends tears running down his face. He sits up to cup her face, memorizing her face with his fingers.

Her hands brush through his bushy brown hair. "Is this real?"

"I'm alive. I missed you so much," his voice breaks into a whisper. "Hades allowed me to see you again."

A memory settles between their minds. Wide smiles that this wasn't the first reunion. Takashi Watanabe's presence convinced Fate to finally be kind to them.

They pepper each other with kisses too many to count. A long passionate kiss almost freezes them in place.

Orpheus nuzzles her nose. "I have so much to tell you."

"I'm all ears," she smiles...

While Orpheus regales his journey, Hippolyta is given a task of her own.

She forces her sandals to stay on the rocky path set before her. Her heart pounds louder than a war club. Her cheeks match the same shade as her scarlet eyes from the running thoughts.

The Amazonian Queen grips her belt to steady herself. Her ears perk up from the sounds of children laughing. The sight of the man she cherishes makes her hide behind the rocky pillar.

Her scarlet eyes smile from the mighty demigod's peace and happiness.

She gathers her breath before walking over. A ball lands near her feat.

Therimachus and Tlepolemus gaze up at the female warrior. Both standing in awe of her presence.

"Wowww. You're so tall!"

"She's almost as tall as father!"

"And muscular too!"

"He-Hello," she clears her throat. "I'm-"

"Hippolyta?" Heracles' voice travels to her.

Happiness and longing travels between the eyes of azure and scarlet. Before she can take a step forward, the might demigod embraces her dearly.

"Thank you for the truth," he whispers.

"Who is she, father?"

"She gave me strength when I needed it the most," he steps back with a smile.

Her cheeks turn redder than a tomato.

Heracles rustles his sons' hair while introducing them and Megara to her.

"Want to play?" Therimachus offers the ball to her.

"Sure. Go long!" She lobs it in an arc.

The twins take chase.

"I think that's a bit much for them," a familiar voice has the Queen spin to her right.

She wraps her arms around Antiope, her departed sister. She decorates the side of her head with kisses.

"I sought her out after our talk," Heracles explains. "I wanted to pay you back."

"Thank you," she whispers through tears. "Thank you," she wipes her tears to refocus. "Antiope, I need to talk with Heracles. I-"

"I will talk to you later?" She presumes with a smirk. "Of course. Not like I have anywhere else to be."

Her wit breaks a laugh out of the queen. "You haven't changed a bit!"

"I hope your aim hasn't gotten rusty for later. Plenty of rabbits with my name on them," she winks.

"You're on," she embraces with the strength of an anaconda. Yet the resident of Elysium doesn't feel an ounce of pain.

Antiope runs off to play with the twins.

The son of Zeus steps forward. "What is it about?"

The Amazon Queen clears her throat. "Should I say this right now?" Her eyes glance at Megara.

The mighty demigod clasps his wife's hand. "Go ahead."

Hippolyta grips her belt. "First, do you know Demeter?"

The raise of his eyebrows answers her question. She brings the couple up to speed about everything. The reason behind Demeter's isolation which shocks them.

Heracles' golden wisps come out in a brief fury that his father would commit an atrocious act. A piece of the puzzle falls into place. A glimpse of him fighting his father before. The warrior queen relieves that confusion through the mention of Takashi Watanabe.

That name summons his face into mind along with the bond they shared.

"...Demeter is now asking for your strength," Hippolyta concludes before looking down. "I don't want to take you away from your family, but the Fates deem it so," she allows them a moment to process.

"Could I bring them back?" He questions if fate will be kind to him.

"I can't promise anything," she answers carefully.

"It's okay," Megara's answer surprises her husband. She cups her hands around his face. "I need you to promise me two things. Be safe but I know that will be broken," she chuckles. "And start a new life with Hippolyta."

The second promise takes the demigods off guard.

"Your eyes could never lie to me," as her fingers trace his cheeks. "You love each other, and I'm not upset about it."

"Megara," he pulls her close. "I'm-"

"Shh. I want you to accept love again. You deserve to be happy too."

He lifts her up to his eye level. "You will always hold a place in my heart. And I promise to always visit you and our sons," he plants a kiss on her cheek.

Hippolyta is still frozen with blushing cheeks. "I-I-I don't even know what to say."

"Just say yes," the former princess encourages. "And if he gets out of line, you can correct him on my behalf."

The mutual laughter breaks her out of her thoughts.

"Do I have to leave now?"

"I think you have a few hours."

"Perfect," he grasps her hand which makes her heart pound. "I want to show you something."

He leads her behind the rocky pillar to her confusion.

"What is this-"

His firm hands gently tilt her head up. His blue eyes gaze into her rubies. Their hearts begin to beat in rhythm.

His fingers play with the ends of her chocolate hair. Her hands wrap behind his head. The space between their bodies disappears.

Their lips meet once again. Love and lust blend as their kisses deepen behind the pillar. The Amazonian queen hooks her legs around his waist to feel all of him. His arms hold her in midair. They break a long kiss with heavy breaths.

"I love you," they say at the same time.

Hippolyta smiles from ear to ear before kissing him again.

Heracles lowers her down with a lighter heart. "Come, let's play and eat," he leads her by the hand.

The warrior queen follows the mighty demigod with their new future in mind. She silently prays that they will both be alive to see it play out.
